Easy and attractive
This is a very nice looking firebowl. It was easy to set up by myself. We bought it last week and have already used it twice. We wanted something we could cook hotdogs and marshmallows over and this really fits the bill, plus it looks nice on our patio. It seemed a little big at first, but it's just right for 3-4 logs, which will give you 2-3 hours of fire. The shape seems to encourage the fire to catch and stay burning. We live in a high-fire area so we've doused the coals with water both times and it seems to be holding up fine under the abuse.

New and improved vs. old and dangerous
I love my firepit which I received as a gift a year ago... I only wish I could purchase the screen top, which was unavailable when I got mine. I have asked in several Target stores, and I am always told that the screen is unavailable for seperate purchase. This is sad... as Target must have sold millions of these firepits sans the screen top.

Great buy!
This litte fire bowl is perfect! We have a small patio and the fire bowl is just the right size for it. We've been wanting an outdoor fireplace for awhile and after doing a bit of research we're glad we purchased this one. The mesh screen comes in handy for reducing flying sparks which is great with the little ones around. This works well with regular sized fire wood, however, the ashes tend to build up alot by the end of the evening. But, that's to be expected. We really like it and would recommend it to anyone who wants to enjoy a relaxing night out by the fire...very cozy!!

Nice.....
This is a really nice fire pit, and it works well on our little patio. It was very easy to assemble and fit our budget. The fire bowl is the perfect size for smaller logs and twigs.

Great little fire pit!
If you are looking for a smaller size fire bowl for occassional use and don't want to spend a lot of money this Char-Broil is great! Ours came with out the top, but we called Char-Broil and within less than a week we had one delivered to our door at no cost to us. The top is a little small, so we don't put it on until the fire is all set to go and then we don't fuss with it. The lid comes in so handy when little ones want to roast marshmallows-no worrying about them falling into the fire. It was super easy to put together and very lightweight. The ashes can be a bit messy, though, so if you don't want them scattered into your pool or yard invest in a shop vac and clean it out following its use. Overall, we are very happy with it. ... Awesome fireplace!!
When we decided to purchase an outdoor fireplace for our patio we looked all over. We specifically wanted a fireplace that was open on all sides so more than 2 people could enjoy it, removable side panels so we could basically open it up and have a non-enclosed fire if we felt like it (and to toast marshmellows!), a large enough base to hold enough standard sized firewood, and a removable ash tray for easy clean up. After searching through stores at every price range we ended up buying this fireplace - the first one we looked at. It did take a little bit of time to put this together as the instructions were not totally clear. It was basically a picture indicating the general direction things were supposed to go with no written steps or pointers. We have built many fires in this and are VERY pleased. The screens are easily removable to add more wood. The handles do get hot so we keep something on hand to open it with. In my experience with this, the base DOES NOT GET HOT as another reviewer complained about. I often rest my bare feet on it with no problem. As someone else mentioned, the smoke does blow out of the sides since they are not enclosed. Since that is typical of most fires we are not concerned with this. After it sitting outside in the elements for 4 months, I have noticed that the log holder inside the fireplace has a few areas of rust however, while looking some of the pricest models we saw were covered in rust from being displayed outside. I have no problem spraying the rack with a high temperature anti-rust paint once a year. Overall, we LOVE THIS FIREPLACE!! Enjoyable, but ....
I actually bought this at my local Target store for my husband for Christmas (our neighborhood is big on fires). It weighs a TON. Someone else said the ash drawer was too small - we empty it every time we use it and haven't had any issues. The removable side screens are nice, however they've rusted really badly in less than a year (it's an outdoor fire place - so yes, it stays outside). The rust is really the only major drawback. Keep in mind that if you put the screens on after lighting the fire...they're going to get hot. Logical, but I've had guests grab them to throw more wood in...we love the look of it and it's very stable. This weekend I'm going to scrub down the screens, ospho them and paint them with black engine (high heat) paint and see if it lasts any longer than the original finish.

Don't bother with this one!!!!!!
I ordered this fireplace for my husband for Father's Day 2004. The screens are too small and the Ash Drawers are too small. I've lost track of the number of times I've faxed customer service asking for the correct parts. It is now October 2004 and I'm going to send pictures. Maybe they will get it with pictures!!! My gut told me to return it right away but I didn't. What a major mistake on my part. Hasn't provided us with one minute of family time which was why I bought the darn thing to begin with!!! VERY disappointed in this item.

RUSTED
Durable, rust-free porcelain finish...where? We received this fireplace as a Christmas present from my parents. After having used it a few times, the finish has burned off and now it has rusted in a few areas. Target is supposed to carry a cover for this but I have yet to find one in stock. We still enjoy it, however, it is not as pretty. Maybe Target should change the description or include a cover with the fireplace.

Can't take the Outdoors
I ordered this from target.com. We received the fireplace and it was chipped and damaged like one other user said. After my husband followed the directions - he realized it was wrong - so he had to take the whole thing apart and start from scratch. After one day this thing began to rust like crazy - the screen, trays and frame. (And it didn't even get rained on) I now have to paint this with rustoleum I guess. LOOKS AS IF IT WAS PURCHASED AT A FINE OUTDOOR SHOP
I purchased this fireplace and find it to be VERY beautiful and well made. It certainly looks as if it was purchased in some expensive outdoor boutique and looks as if it costs a LOT more than what the actual price was. As far as the patina goes, everyone knows that copper changes with weather, time and other elements and I feel it only enhances the beauty of the whole piece. I am very pleased with this and it is holding up just fine.

Let's hope you get all the pieces...
We bought this in-store, and waited awhile to put together (mistake #1). We found out, when most of it was already assembled, that the back mesh panel was warped, which affected the placement of the lid and also allows a gap. Upon further examination of the box, we discovered that there was no manufacturer listed, nor was there anything but assembly instructions in the box. We called several Target stores, but of course nobody could tell us the manufacturer since they have sold out of the item. FInally, we got an 800 nubmer from Target, who was able to give us the maker's contact info, but the maker told us that they don't have any parts, to see if the store has any more fireplaces. So, we are out of luck. And too tired to disassemble the thing. We'll probably patch it somehow. Overall, its attractive, although cheaply made. It was probably made by children in India, which is why the manufacturer's name is nowhere on it! :)

So - So Product
There is no doubt that my wife and I liked the look of this product, and the price certainly is better than many of the competative products we looked at. There are two things to note that we weren't as pleased with. 1) This may be obvious, but don't expect the copper luster on the top of this unit to remain... even with good care. Burning a fire in this unit will obviously change the look of the product, and some may not find this appealling. The larger the fires and more frequent you burn them, the quicker the product will dull and change look. We tried copper polish on it, but it didn't restore the shine. Just be aware of this. 2)The product, although good for the price, still falls under the 'you get what you pay for' tag. I had mine for about 3 months when a hinge on the product came apart at the weld. From the look of the weld, it doesn't look like the quality of the workmanship is too good. I noticed a lot of bubbles in the metal that was supposed to hold it together - a sign of cheaper manufacturing. All together - I'd say the product is ok. Outstanding and easy
We bought this a few weeks ago and have already used it 6 times!It puts out warmth and great atmosphere.We also have a chiminea that burns pinyon wood, so we prefered this to be logs with propane so that it can be turned on instantly!A really great idea!Love it!

VERY HAPPY!!
My husband received this as a gift for his last birthday. We use it to have a safer campfire for us and the kids on those cool nights when we want to be outside. We have LOVED it. The handle for the screen is kind of short, so we bought a $4 longer handle fireplace poker at Target and have been very pleased. Lots of warmth. This added another month to our time outside last year. Looking forward to getting it out again this year.

No cover available and food poisoning?????
I noticed that the newer boxes come with covers- I can't seem to find a cover for this in the stores or on-line. Also, had I known that you could get food poisoning from this item I would have purchased a different item. I had the whole marshmallow roasting in mind when I bought it and now it will just be a temptation to the kids without any benefit. It is attractive though and was extremely easy to put together.

you can't eat the food!
We bought the copper fire pit with the intention of having wonderful family and neighborhood marshmallow roasts. After spending an hour putting the pit together, we read the fine print. We discovered that you could't eat the food you cooked over the pit for fear of food poisoning. It would've been helpful if it specified that on the outside of the box. It's a beautiful, very decorative pit. If your intention is for BBQ's, you're going to be very hungry.

So far...great
I just bought this today and while I've had the fire bowl under 24 hours, I'm very pleased. Very easy to assemble(although for the price I expected something a bit heavier). The reason I feel qualified to write this review is two-fold. One, my fiance is what some people might call a pyro-that is to say he likes to build VERY large fires (but, I guess most guys do). Two, we spent the better part of the afternoon, burning MASSIVE amounts of branches and general yard rubbish. Needless to say, the copper look is long gone, but the patina that remains is attractive. The only thing I wish were different is the length of the handle on the screen tool that is included. However, that is easily remedied by a fire poker of some sort.
