Amazon.com Product Description

The Magellan SporTrak Pro is a feature-rich, fun, and easy-to-use GPS receiver designed for the serious navigator. Its rugged, waterproof, and ergonomic design is perfect for the outdoorsperson needing a compact but powerful navigator.

Included in SporTrak Pro is a 9 MB North American basemap of highways, major roads, parks, waterways, marine navaids, buoys, lighthouses, and more. An additional 23 MB of built-in memory is included for downloading detailed maps from Magellan's MapSend line of CD-ROMs. With Wide Area Augmentation System (WAAS) support, the SporTrak offers readings with up to a three-meter accuracy.

The large display, along with a front facing 9-key keypad, makes it easy to use in any environment. SporTrak Pro software includes seven graphic navigation screens, storage for up to 500 waypoints and 20 routes, a best fish and game time calculator, and BackTrack for finding your way home after a long trip into the woods.

The SporTrak Pro runs on two AA batteries for up to 14 hours. It's housed in rubber-armored, impact-resistant plastic that's waterproof and also floats.

The WAAS difference
  • 100 meters: Accuracy of the original GPS system, which was subject to accuracy degradation under the government-imposed Selective Availability (SA) program.
  • 15 meters: Typical GPS position accuracy without SA.
  • 3-5 meters: Typical differential GPS (DGPS) position accuracy.
  • Less than 3 meters: Typical WAAS position accuracy.
WAAS is a system of satellites and ground stations that provide GPS signal corrections, giving you even better position accuracy. How much better? Try an average of up to five times better. A WAAS-capable receiver can give you a position accuracy of better than three meters 95 percent of the time. And you don't have to purchase additional receiving equipment or pay service fees to utilize WAAS.

How it Works
WAAS consists of approximately 25 ground reference stations positioned across the United States that monitor GPS satellite data. Two master stations, located on either coast, collect data from the reference stations and create a GPS correction message. This correction accounts for GPS satellite orbit and clock drift plus signal delays caused by the atmosphere and ionosphere. The corrected differential message is then broadcast through one of two geostationary satellites, or satellites with a fixed position over the equator. The information is compatible with the basic GPS signal structure, which means any WAAS-enabled GPS receiver can read the signal.

Who benefits from WAAS?
Currently, WAAS satellite coverage is only available in North America. There are no ground reference stations in South America, so even though GPS users there can receive WAAS, the signal has not been corrected and thus would not improve the accuracy of their unit. For some users in the U.S., the position of the satellites over the equator makes it difficult to receive the signals when trees or mountains obstruct the view of the horizon. WAAS signal reception is ideal for open land and marine applications. WAAS provides extended coverage both inland and offshore compared to the land-based DGPS (differential GPS) system. Another benefit of WAAS is that it does not require additional receiving equipment, while DGPS does.

5-0 out of 5 stars Too cool.
I just received my Magellan SporTrak Pro GPS unit, and after about three hours of non-stop twiddling with it, I can safely say "WOW!" I powered up the unit for the first time INSIDE my house, and it started acquiring satellites. Pretty amazing.

Highlights:

- Easy to use
- Dead accurate
- Surprisingly detailed base map
- Well worth the money

The only Down Sides I've noted are:

- PC cable securing screw has a small, floppy D-ring-type handle on it, which makes securing the PC cable to the GPS somewhat finicky. The same type D-ring is used for the lanyard loop/battery compartment screw. It's OK, but nothing I'd design.

- Magellan doesn't make a carrying case for it, but a slightly modified Nokia 5160 leather case works very well!

- The backlight makes an annoying hum. It is barely noticeable at the Low setting, but on High, it sounds like a mosquito. Good thing I detest backlights to begin with.

If you want a GPS, go buy this unit. Don't mess with the "toy" GPS systems that only use "patch" antennas. The quad helix on the Magellan systems is FAR superior.

2-0 out of 5 stars Critical Deficiency
I returned this unit because of an inaccurate trip odometer and will probably replace it with the Garmin GPSMap. The accuracy of the odometer on my Sportrak was off by about 20% at walking speeds. Try the following test: drive a one mile course away from and back to your home with the unit on the car dashboard. You will find quite close agreement (within a couple of percent) of the odometer reading on your car and the Sportrak. Now walk the same course holding the unit in your hand. My unit would record approximately 0.8 miles on the odometer on the same 1 mile course. I have conducted this experiment with a Garmin unit (the Foretrex 201) and found this unit to have the same accuracy at walking speeds as at highway speeds. Since I wish to use the system for mostly walking speed trips the Sportrak was unacceptable to me.

5-0 out of 5 stars I'm happy!!
After lots of research, I finally decided to purchase this Magellan over the Garmin Legend. The decision was based mostly on other websites and reviews questioning the sensitivity of the Garmin. I can't say anything about that, but I know I can usually get enough signal on the 1st floor of my 2 floor house (and I'm away from any windows). In the open, I can usually get 100% signal from 6 satellites and a little from a 7th (it only needs sufficient signal from 3). It's a little bigger than the Garmin, but being an RF engineer, I know that generally, the larger the better the antenna performance. I can't wait to take mine on a hike. FYI The unit comes programmed with fairly detailed maps of the US and very general maps of the rest of the world. If you want more, I guess you have to buy the CD.

Update: I compared my unit to my friend's Garmin Legend and from the window at work, the Magellan did seem to perform better.
I managed to lock on to 3 satellites, while the Garmin only two.

5-0 out of 5 stars The most accurate GPS
The is the most accurate GPS I have ever tested.
It is a good overall unit.

3-0 out of 5 stars on upgrading your firmware, be careful
One word of caution. It's very easy to upgrade the firmware on the Magellans. But nowhere on the "readmes" for the sportrak pro upgrade did it tell the user to keep both the com port and the GPS at 4800 baud (esp. since the GPS can be set for 115,200! You can totally hose the flash memory and firmware by running the upgrade at ANY baud rate > 4800. You CAN go through an arcane series of "keystokes" to get the GPS back into "upgrade" mode..but it's a pain.. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars not an all weather swing
I purchased this swing, the first one that i received had a defective weaving, the cords came apart. I got a replacement, since then i have had the swing out and have barely used it, this summer when i tried to sit in it, the rope gave away and i fell down. Note that this swing was barely sat in.

5-0 out of 5 stars My parents like it.
I gave this as a gift to my Mom...she loves it and says she can lay back in it like a hammok. My Dad has also tried it. They had it put up on a tree in less than an hour after they recieved it from UPS. Mom says she can take it down and put it up easily without Dad's help. When a storm hits, this is a good idea. After visiting the folks, I find that it It fits me(at 6' 2" and 275 lbs) I can now rate it five stars. dispite the thin(looking) ropes, this thing could fit a circus elephant it's so strong(Hehe).

5-0 out of 5 stars Got to love it
This wonderful hammock continues to offer my family a much-needed break from gardening, raking, or playing with the kids. The kids love to pile in and spin until they are dizzy - while I enjoy a much needed break and read a favorite book.

4-0 out of 5 stars Grandma's View
We received one of these chairs as a gift from our daughter several years ago. It has been a great conversation piece, besides being a very comfortable chair. The grandkids argue over who's turn it is to use it. It is very relaxing to sit in it on the patio on a nice summer evening and read or watch the sunset.

1-0 out of 5 stars Get an Aerobed
Don't waste your money.I bought this mattress at Target.Big mistake.I had the same problem with leaking air other people have complained about. It just wouldn't hold air, and I'd wake up on the ground, achy and unrested. The Aerobed, on the other hand was a delight. I bought a queen sized Aerobed when I moved into a new place, planning to just use it until I bought a real mattress.I ended up sleeping on it for many months before diving in and buying a Temperpedic, and giving the Aerobed away to a friend. The Aerobed was incredibly comfortable and durable - easy to inflate or deflate with the push of a button. It is more expensive than this Eddie Bauer one, but you get what you pay for.

1-0 out of 5 stars Just Doesn't Work
In the end, it doesn't matter how comfortable an air mattress may be or what features it has.If it doesn't hold air, it's no good.Such is the case with the two of these we purchased. They were out of air by 3-4 a.m.From now on, I'm sticking with Aero. The air bed of theirs I have is flawless.

2-0 out of 5 stars Don't waste your money.
Actually bought a full size at Target. Don't be fooled by the Eddie Bauer name. After about 3 1/2 months of use the bed would not hold any air. Called Eddie Bauer to see what they could do.Come to find out, Target only BORROWED the Eddie Bauer name, so item is not made by Eddie Bauer company at all, so you cannot get problem resolved by Eddie Bauer.Called Target to see what I could do because refund date had expired. Gave me the manufacturer which was not Eddie Bauer. Bottom line, I got the run around.Ended up wasting my $60.Do yourself a favor and get an Aero bed.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great for everything
My husband and I love this bed.Sometimes we sleep on it instead of our real bed.It stores almost anywhere since it can fold back up and into the bag and be placed out of site.Sometimes we use it so much that we don't even bother storing it away. We've had the bed for 2 years now and it has served us well.

2-0 out of 5 stars flat
We purchase this item at a target. We have used the mattress a few times. The time that we have used it, we woke up flat on the ground. My husband just recently replaced it with a cheaper version. I was upset because I really wanted to get the aerobed. But we will see when we go camping. Will his cheap one hold out? if not, then I'm off to get an aero bed. I will be reviewing that one too. But the eddie baur did not work for us. Maybe for our two little kids, but not for two grown adults. ... Read more

Coolers are usually large and unwieldy, which is why Koolatron developed the Compact Kooler, specially designed to fit in the snug spaces behind the seats of many cars, trucks, and vans. Like many of Koolatron's coolers, this unit features a 12-volt cooling system that plugs into a car's cigarette lighter. The cooler's motor blows cold air over your food and beverages, keeping them 40 degrees F cooler than the outside temperature. The cooler also doubles as a warmer, if you'd rather keep the contents toasty. Outside of the car or truck, the cooler is still versatile, with a swinging, foldaway handle for easy portage and a latchless lid that opens with one hand. Other handy features include a convenient cord wrap and a unique storage spot for the unplugged cigarette lighter. Despite the unit's compact size and weight (only 9 pounds), it can still hold up to 23 12-ounce soft drinks. --Rivers Janssen ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonder of wonder! I love my hammock!
I love my hammock. I actually have 2 now, and they are both in my backyard. I like the white because it goes well with my yard, and sometimes with the multi colored ones you never know what you're going to get. It is also extremely comfortable. If you combine this with the smell of cut grass and a cool breeze and I think you may have just found the key to life.

4-0 out of 5 stars In The Shade...
How wonderful an item that provides comfort and stability at such an affordable price to relax in the evening shade. No yard should be without the ever-enticing hammock - and now available in RAINBOW colors, too! How fun!

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Comfort at Affordable Price

5-0 out of 5 stars That's 6,500 Candlepower alright!
One night I was fixing my speakers in the rear of the car. I used my Scorpion Streamlight to give me some extra light. For some reason I accidently left the flashlight on when it was sitting on the backseat. Meanwhile, several minutes later I smelled some burning and it was the Scorpion slowly burning a hole through my back seat. I was upset but surprised by the power of this little flashlight. Whenever I bust out this little guy out my friends react in awe by how much light comes from this little flashlight. I'm quite pleased but the batteries aren't cheap. My advice on batteries are to look for some on Ebay that run cheaper and buy in bulk. It has a nice rubberized grip for nice handling. I even hold it with my teeth when my hands are occuppied as I look at my engine in my car at night. This flashlight kicks the shizzle out of a maglite but it really drains the batteries if you have it one for a long time.

4-0 out of 5 stars Very good general purpose flashlight
Streamlight Scorpion is a very good general purpose flashlight, as the light is bright, and quite even when the beam is set tigth. The light is easy to operate with tailcap end click-on switch, but there is no separate momentary switch. You can depress the click-on switch halfway down to get the same effect, but that is not as good a solution as a separate momentary switch would have been.

The light is brigth with fresh batteries, but the light dims quite fast as the batteries are used. The light bulb heats up with constant use, and that can melt a hole into the plastic lens. That has happened twice to me, as the light has been clicked on accidentally without me noticing that. The light beam is adjustable, but when adjusted wide, there are some serious dark rings on the beam. The body of the flashlight is covered with rubber sleeve. I like the feel of that, although it is possible that the flashlight can stick to clothing when removed from pocket, but I haven't any problems like that.

This flashlight is a very good choice for general purpose flashlight, and the price is reasonable. It is not suitable for a tactical light (for law enforcement, for example), mainly because it has no momentary switch.

5-0 out of 5 stars Bright Light in a Small Package
The Streamlight Scorpion is a small light that puts out a lot of brightness for its size.

Powered by 2, 3-volt lithium batteries this flashlight is pretty small (both in diameter and length). You'll be amazed how such a small flashlight can light up a room or an object at night.

The pushbutton switch is on the bottom of the light, so that might take getting used to. It's a three function switch (on/off/momentary on). The body of the flashlight is coated with rubber, so it's easy to grip if your hands are wet. However, this makes it difficult to bring out if you keep it in your pants pocket or a holster.

The beam quality is nice: no "holes" or "rings" in the spotlight.

Pluses: small size, bright light, manufacturer with good reputation for quality, lithium batteries have 10 year shelf life.

Minues: Takes 3-Volt lithium batteries (can be expensive), flashlight is fairly expensive.

This is a good light to keep in the car glove compartment for emergencies because it's small and the lithium batteries will keep for a long time.

Would I buy this again? Yes, but because of the cost I would make sure that I don't lose it. ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

Mayan hammocks are considered the most comfortable in the world. A miracle of craftsmanship, this unique two-person bed is 7 feet and 2 inches long by a whopping 12 feet wide and is made up of more than 2 miles of fine cotton cord strung over hundreds of strong white nylon arm strings--a construction that is capable of supporting more than 1,000 pounds. And that's hardly the impressive part. The parade of color on this hammock spans fuchsia, red, fiery orange, sky blue, black, white, and the greenest of greens: a display as delightful as the floating feeling you'll get when you rest on it. Our only caution? When you first open the package you'll probably be overwhelmed by the thousands of tiny strings that look like one daunting tangle. Before hanging, spread the bed out straight on the ground, then pick up one handle at a time and shake gently. The strings should fall out neatly, and you'll be ready to float in style. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Anyone Can Be A Swinger
What is over 7 feet long and 12 feet wide with a kaleidoscope of enthralling colors? What allows you to swing so peacefully as to smile sleepily at falling leaves in the Autumn, bundle up and hide in it during furried snowball fights, or invite a friend or two, or even three to relax and celebrate the coming of Spring under the glow of a full moon? Answer: This extremely well built Mayan hammock by the Omni Corporation.

Made of durable Nylon threading, colors re-creating Mexican sunsets, able to hold up to a 1000 pounds of body weight, this is a beauty of a hammock. My sister has one up at her lake cottage and we almost have to take numbers to get a turn in it! Even the animals love it-it has held up to dogs, cats, squirrels, and five rousting male species--all at one time.

This hammock is easy to hose off for cleaning and wears well in all climates. At this bargain price--I just might have to get her another one, for me.

5-0 out of 5 stars Kids love it
We've had the hammock for a month, now. I hung it between two trees. We use it for relaxing (adults should lie diagonally for the most comfort), and even as a big swing for the kids. We've never tried two adults at a time, but one adult and one kid fit just fine. And, kids can hang onto it easily to be safe while swinging. My daughter loves to pretend she's a butterfly in a chrysalis by wrapping the sides around her. The colors and weave are nice-looking. I'm happy with it!

2-0 out of 5 stars Did i hang it wrong???
I bought mine on Cozumel and hung it when i got home. But when you get into it, it feels like you're lying on a flat board, the sides dont go up around you, and it feels like if you were to turn or shift around, you'd just fall out of it (it's a one person hammock). If I did hang it without doing something additional to it (i just hung it from the loops on the ends), please tell me how to fix it! Thanks!

5-0 out of 5 stars Mayan hammocks rule!
I lived for two years on the Yucatan peninsula and slept in nothing but these hammocks. I personally think that if you sleep in them right they are more comfortable than beds! There's a trick to sleeping or resting in them -- you don't lie in them like a regular hammock (you'd feel like a banana!)... you lie in them diagonally, and if you get it right you won't even need a pillow.

The larger hammocks will let you fit two people comfortably (lying diagonally of course), and they even make good baby swings (wrap the sides up to get some space between the threads, then clasp them up at the top).

I have six hammocks made by the locals in Merida, but if you get one of these you'll not regret it.

1-0 out of 5 stars Ugly
This is one ugly hammock. It was a gift and would not have been my choice. It is large enough to hold two people, which might sound like fun, but you end up practically lying on top of each other because it has no spreaders. You'd be better off spending your money on a different hammock. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars broke after 2 weeks
My children (13,5) have wanted a trampoline for several years. We finally broke down and let the "Easter Bunny" bring us one!Not even two weeks later, all the straps that hold on the blue frame cover (padding that covers the springs) have ripped out.Now there is nothing holding it on the trampoline. This is NOT safe! I can not let my (very upset) children on it until I replace it.....we will see how the warranty is, and just how long I will have to wait. ... Read more

We think they call it "Legend" for good reason: You'd be hardpressed to pack this many tools into the space that the Gerber Legendtakes up. Inside this impressive little package, you'll have access tono fewer than 12 tools, including tungsten carbide-steel blades. Allthe hardware is stainless steel, mounted on a nickel-coated die-castaluminum handle set that feels like it was made for your hand. Thezirconium nitride hard wire cutter insert has three edges, and it'sreplaceable, so you'll never be without a laser-sharp edge. The Legendincludes the wire cutter, a combination edge and serrated drop-pointknife blade, scissors, can opener, hack saw, Phillips, small, medium, and large screwdrivers. Each stainless-steel component snaps into placewith a solid locking system. We think it's the perfect pocket tool.--Kris Jensen-Van Heste ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars The Multi-tool Nightmare!
This multi-tool in my opinion needs re-designed. The pliers do not open wide enough to use on objects bigger than an inch and no can opener for those who go fishing, hunting or camping. You can't even get replaceable Rem-Grit blades.(even from the Gerber Co.) It does have great wire cutters & scissors though!
Two stars is the best I feel to rate it. No wonder I stuck it in a drawer and wear a different brand! After all, a multi-tool that works on small objects of less than an inch when needed can be a nightmare! It is your choice & your money. Just try loosening a water hose on a faucet and then you'll find out about its limitations!

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Multitool of Six
I own six multitools (also custom Gerber 600, SOG Powerlock, a Bucktool, a Shrade Tough Tool and a Leatherman Wave) and I have to say that the Legend is the best one I own.

The Legend has many good points. All of the tools lock and can be opened without opening the entire tool except for, of course, the pliers and wire cutters. The replaceable wire cutters are the best ones going. I have had wirecutters fail. On the Legend you just replace them.

The handles are the most comfortable out there. They are the only spring loaded handles I have found. I especially like how the knife blade and Fiskars scissors have tabs to easily open them. The scissors cut better than any other. The short cutting area is made up by the superior cutting ability. I have cut plastic coated wire with no problem.

The only disadvantage is there is no traditional can opener, just a bottle opener. I have large hands so the size is no problem for me but it may be for some.

The Legend is the most expensive multitool I own but it is not much more than many others and it is worth the extra money.

5-0 out of 5 stars best tool ever made
This multi tool is so good that I had to think to myself is this for real! The tool is almost half the original price and I say worth every penny for the whole price. The scissors cut through my jeans, the spring loaded pliers are great, and the locking mechanism is wonderful. It is perfect for my big hands and is light too. Lastly the wire cutters cut through anything as well as the remgrit saw blade which is REPLACEABLE!This tool is the best off all time and I would recommend this tool to any heavy duty worker. I love it and I think you will to.

2-0 out of 5 stars The Gerber 600 is much better
I bought this for my boyfriend and promptly returned it. I was getting it for him to replace his lost 600. The things that we did not like about this tool were:
1) cheesy black grippy things that looked like they were going to come off if wet, and
2) you can't do the cool thing where you hold the multitool, flick your wrist, and the pliers extend with a satisfying little snap!
It's also a bit larger than the 600, so unless you have big pockets or don't care about size, you might want to go for the more compact 600.

4-0 out of 5 stars Almost there, but not quite perfect.
I have three multitools - and I think I need them all since none of them do everything. In order of preference:

1. The Swiss Tool RS (Rescue and Survival)
2. This one - the Gerber Legend 800
3. The Gerber Pro Scout - stays on the boat.

Of the first two (Swiss Tool and Gerber Legend), the Legend is probably a better design but not nearly as well executed as the Swiss Tool. The Swiss Tool is a thing of beauty, its build like a watch. The blades are much higher quality - same as you find on a swiss army knife. The Legend is a better design - the one handed opening would be huge on the swiss tool but the Legend's execution is just not to the same level as the swiss tool. I'm getting a tiny wear mark on the scissors from the way they store in the tool plus the locks can be painful if you have to use the knife and really bear down.

I like this tool (Legend) for around the house projects. I especially like the one handed opening of the knife and scissors. Doesn't seem like much, but when you have what you need to cut in one hand, and you get your tool out with the other - it is incredibly useful.

Pros:
+ One handed opening.
+ strong, strong, strong pliers.
+ Great wire cutters. Excellent that they allow replacing the cutting edge. In my experience, this is where most multitools die when the edges get pitted and nicked.
+ good blade set of screwdrivers - 3 slotted, one phillips.
+ don't need to open tool to open blades.
+ Blades all lock in place.
+ nice scissors
+ spring loaded pliers - again very nice when you use them.

Cons
- pliers don't open wide enough,
- Case just doesn't cut it. Its cheap and I am constantly hooking the cover on things since it protrudes. Plan on finding another (not an easy task). This is a major beef.
- I don't like serrated blades for most uses. They are hard to sharpen - so you don't and they get dull. This one has a blade that is half straight edge, half serrated - neither fish nor fowl. This and the case are my major issues with this tool.
- no ruler (?!)
- saw seems like a good idea, but i would hate to cut anything of substance with it.
- Its a large tool, so it can be a bit of a handful.

The fit and finish of the swiss tool is superior as is the blade combination and quality. The swiss tool is heavier and longer. However it doesn't have one hand opening. Between these two, I have everything I need. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars my 10 yr. old loves it!!!!!!!!!
To me this is better not on hills. My son got this going on the second day. He had no problem with this product. I don't know why any one else had problems. This product is for 8 years old and up and I thought, finally a great gift that he could get exercise while having fun. Every kid in the neighborhood wants one for christmas now.

This is a joke for a scooter it is only good for down hill and the quality is not that good, less then a year the weld is broke...

1-0 out of 5 stars Good for downhill only
I can't believe this rates higher than 2 Stars. Don't be fooled, this only good for down hill. While it is well built, you can't propel this trike as advertized. Save your money, don't buy this!

2-0 out of 5 stars wrong trikke in box
I purchased this Trikke thinking that it would be a great surprise for my son on his birthday. When I received the Trikke it was missing two pieces. This Trikke came in a box that didnt match the product. It does not fold down at all which makes it hard to pack for trips etc... I am very dissappointed in this product and Razor company should get a great big slap for false advertising. The advertisment also does not state the weight capacity, its say both kids and adults can enjoy this product. The weight capacity is only 175lbs. It does not come with an owners manual, and there is no tool case. The allen wrenches come in a plastic baggie taped with scotch tape. Very Very disappointed.

2-0 out of 5 stars The trikke for less @tru
I thinks it's a small durable toy with lots of fun for kids. Unlike a regular scooker where you push constintly and get tired. With the Trikke you just lean back and forith doing S-turns like a skier... a little push and your off as long as theres no big hills. All in all it's a neat little invention. ... Read more
