An Oasis Outdoors.
My husband and children purchased the Castaway Rope Hammock as a birthday gift for me. I love the detail of the craftsmanship. We purchased a frame from a local retailer so that it can be moved around the yard depending on the need at the time. The 13 foot length just fits in the frame. I wanted the hammock, so I could enjoy the out doors with my family. Do to illness, I have to take alot of down time, most of the time it is indoors, because it is hard to get comfortable outdoors. But now, when I need down time, and everyone else is outside, I use my hammock,the large width even allows my children to snuggle and enjoy our time together. It is relaxing, comfortable and just fits my need for an " Oasis".

Two people? I don't think so!
The ... description says this hammock can accommodate two adults. Not bloody likely! Maybe if those two adults were Kate Moss and Lara Flynn Boyle; but an average-weight woman and man? Uh-uh. You'd be resting on the bar of the hammock stand; this hammock is way too saggy for that.

I'm a little concerned about the fact that it's made of cotton rope; I think nylon rope would be much more durable and weather-resistant. Still, it's not a bad hammock for the price (free with the purchase of the stand), and it is dangerously comfy. Practically every time I lie down on it, intending to spend some time with a book, I end up taking a nap. D'oh!

I'm going to Scotchguard it and probably still take it in when the weather gets icky. We'll see how long it lasts; I won't feel ripped off if I end up buying a better hammock next year.

Try it: You'll like it!
I brought a hammock stand home because I thought it might be something we could enjoy but the store didn't have any more hammocks. I found this one online here at Amazon[.com]. After the hammock arrived, our fun started with hooking it to the stand. We weren't sure how many links to leave hanging; the first try yielded a seat on the ground. It took three tries and a great deal of laughter to get the right height so we could swing, not sit. Now when we can, we thoroughly enjoy relaxing (one at a time, though) in our back yard. I usually take a pillow, the book I'm currently reading, maybe a light cover in case it's a little cool, a clock for when I get curious about the time, and occasionally a snack. Two hours, usually including a nap, can pass like nothing. It's really a neat experience, relaxing and refreshing, and a way to put some calm into craziness. Even my husband, who snickered at the idea at first, has really enjoyed it. He lays on a comforter and says it's totally comfy.

We found the hammock to be well-constructed. It is everything the product description says it is. Somethimes it's hard to judge what a product will be like in "real life" when just a picture is available. However, the description and the product are exact matches. Go for it! You'll have a great time!

Not the best - Only buy it if it is free!
I ordered the stand and recieved this hammock for free with it. I am glad it was free as it is cheaply made. The tag on it reads made in India and it looked it. This hammock sinks to the ground when I sit on it. I am a big guy but not close to the 400 pound weight limit I read when I bought it. This thing is only good for free. I am sure it will not last long.

It's like it's made of elastic instead of cotton.
I got the hammock/hammock stand combo deal... not such a good deal at all. The hammock is attached to the stand as tightly as possible, without any slack in the chain, and this hammock sags all the way to the ground with just one person. When adding a second, you may as well just lie in the grass.
And it's not as though I was pushing the 400 pound weight limit -- hubby and me combine are barely 250 pounds.
The most unfortunate part is that the expense to return it all negates the refund, so this ends up being over a hundred dollars thrown away. ... Read more

Excellent product, easy to handle, simple design
I've been using this stand (and the hammock combo) for about 6 weeks now and I couldn't be happier. The stand is 5 pieces that go together easily, no tools, muss, or fuss. It was exactly what I needed since my yard has exactly one tree.

The hammock that Amazon basically gave away with the combo is not the best hammock you can buy (I mostly use my own) but you can't really argue with free. It is a almost too short for my 6' height and the ropes are quite a bit thicker than the hammock I had previously (and still mostly use). I take this hammock with me on picnics and such and figure it's disposable if it gets damaged while on the road.

I am not a small person, 6' 270 lbs., and I do have the hammock in the highest position using the chains, but I have had no problems with the stand or the hammock. Two good sized people and a child have used the hammock with no problems (still under the stated 500 lb. limit).

Because of the simplicity of design and the easy breakdown and setup I have taken the hammock to picnics and parties in my trunk (I do have to fold the back seat down to fit the long pieces).

My only wish were that the pipe ends had some kind of rubber seal, or maybe a locking pin, that would make it a little easier for one person to move the stand around when mowing (it comes apart easily if you try to pull on one end, but never while using it). If you have two people carefully moving it there is no problem, with one person you have to walk it back and forth.

Cool Stand and Durable
This is a great hammock stand. I bought it for my husband along with a great hammock from amazon for his birthday last summer. This stand is so strong and durable. My husband and I and all 4 of our young children have laid in the hammock and it never wobbled. It's easy to move to mow around and the green blends in with the woods and grass around our yard. A MUST FOR ANY HAMMOCK USER!!

Good but not the best
I bought the set with the hammock plus this stand. I will say it was worth the $99 I spent but it does have negatives. The stand has no interlocking parts. This makes the stand hard to move when it is assembled as it does not lock together. This annoys me as the locking parts would have probably cost an extra $3 on the price. Cutting corners like this seems almost foolish to me as the locks would be worth it. Otherwise the stand seems strong and works well. The hammock I recieved had a tag made in India and by the looks of it labor was not the only thing they saved on. The rope looks kind of cheap and the hammock needs to be hung high or when your in it you will sit on the floor. I guess for free I am happy enough with the hammcok but it is cheaply made!

Omni Swings n' Things Hammock Stand,Green
I purchased the hammockstand and hammock in two seperate orders. I received the hammock than used the Ups tracking on the day they said it went out for delivery,itstated that the carrier refused it due to damage and that it was being returned to sender. The next day the Ups delivered it with an apology from the driver and said that he was told to deliver it to me. The box it cam in was worn,and nothing but tape all around holding the box together. After taking the stand out of the box it went together in less than five minutes. The hammock stand is great with my only complaint is how it was shipped. One thing also is the customer has to supply the hooks and chains which costs around four dollars.

Doesn't Fit
I bought the hammock with accompanying stand. The rope hammock is way too long for the stand. My teenager weighs about 100lbs
and when he gets in the hammock,it stretches so much that he is virtually on the ground. Bought as Christmas present and what a disappointment this summer. Looks pretty, thus one star. I suggest you buy only the hammock and make sure you have two big trees to tie it tautly. ... Read more

great; weight limit & hardware
This is a beautiful, sturdy, well-designed product. At first I thought it would look silly in a New England apartment, but then I sat in it and stopped caring. It's that comfortable. It's also fairly unobstrusive, and in a pinch (toddlers visiting? landlord dropping by?) it's easy to substitute a hanging plant or just unhook the chain from the ceiling altogether.

As far as safety, if you install it correctly you have nothing to worry about; yes, it will hold two people at once. :-) You'll need to buy a length of chain at the hardware store -- ask for 3/16" link, 750-lb test, and get one or two S-hooks that fit through a link. The chair itself is rated to support up to 500 lbs. Finally, a 2" x 4" ceiling joist will support 450 lbs over a 10-foot span before it begins to bow or buckle. Recommended . . . enjoy!

MY WIFE LOVES IT
My wife and kids love the chair, but I don't care for it that much. I thought the chair was a little bit constricting. Assembly was easy. Give yourself alot of room for it, the base is huge.

Nice, but doesn't last outside
I bought one for my wife for Christmas 2 years ago, and it was inside most of the time for the first year, and outside most of the second year, and the small ropes in the seat broke and the chair developed large holes as it raveled apart.
We live in Florida, but it was under a big oak tree, so it was shaded all day.
Ropes also got dirty looking fast.

not an all weather swing
I purchased this swing, the first one that i received had a defective weaving, the cords came apart. I got a replacement, since then i have had the swing out and have barely used it, this summer when i tried to sit in it, the rope gave away and i fell down. Note that this swing was barely sat in.

My parents like it.
I gave this as a gift to my Mom...she loves it and says she can lay back in it like a hammok. My Dad has also tried it. They had it put up on a tree in less than an hour after they recieved it from UPS. Mom says she can take it down and put it up easily without Dad's help. When a storm hits, this is a good idea. After visiting the folks, I find that it It fits me(at 6' 2" and 275 lbs) I can now rate it five stars. dispite the thin(looking) ropes, this thing could fit a circus elephant it's so strong(Hehe).

Got to love it
This wonderful hammock continues to offer my family a much-needed break from gardening, raking, or playing with the kids. The kids love to pile in and spin until they are dizzy - while I enjoy a much needed break and read a favorite book.

Grandma's View
We received one of these chairs as a gift from our daughter several years ago. It has been a great conversation piece, besides being a very comfortable chair. The grandkids argue over who's turn it is to use it. It is very relaxing to sit in it on the patio on a nice summer evening and read or watch the sunset.

Great deal from a true bargain queen!
I searched many sites to find an affordable hammock that was also durable. I was replacing a hammock that was brought back from Panama, and wanted equal craftsmanship, not the uncomfortable & awkward braided type. Most others I saw were $60 - $160. This hammock is perfect for lazing around off my back porch. My 3 year old won't stay out of it! You didn't have it in stock for Mother's Day, so I kept it for myself when it did finally come in. Thanks again for one of life's simple pleasures that us parents seems to miss out on ~ relaxation!

Not comfortable, doesn't hold up to weather...
Hammock is ok quality, and a decent price, but it isn't the most comfortable. You feel like you're slumped into a sling, and you need large trees or posts to tie it to. If you want a comfortable hammock, or you want to use a stand, get hammock with wood bars. I bought one from ExoticHammocks for about $50 and gave away my Amazona. Also, look for a hammock with nylon or polyester. Cotton hammocks rot and fade.

For the price this hammock is 6 starts. I mean, when you look around and see prices ranging in the 150's, to only drop just 40 makes this baby an easy sell. It has so far been a delight to lie in and with my newly purchased Tiki torches ...and some starving wannabe actors chained to my back porch I feel just like I am in Survivor.

Sleep in comfort
I have been sleeping in hammocks for five years now. I have had problems sleeping in beds for years. Because of my wide shoulders I cannot sleep on my side without "throwing my back out". I had purchased a bed that cost a couple of thousand dollars and when that did not take care of the problem, I did some thinking about how people have slept over the course of human history.

It occured to me that peoples who slept in hammocks seemed to stay with them longer then societies that slept on mats or beds of various kinds. I also found that hammocks seem to have evolved in all of the warm climate areas and since we no longer sleep out doors (not here in Maine anyway), I thought it made some sense to give it a try.

I have been sleeping very comfortably in a "Mayan" style hammock for these five years and needed to replace mine. I bought the "Taino" and found it to be more comfortable to sleep in than the "Mayan" style. It does not sag in the center as much, so that my arms are not pressed up against me, that might be something you would enjoy, but not I. Over time the smaller threads of the "Mayan" style get snagged and broken and repairs can be a little difficult when more then one are broken. Because of my three dogs, I need a hammock that can withstand some abuse (Yes, one of them has learned to sleep in the hammock with me) and the thicker cord is a positive in that respect.

My wife asked me to buy her a new "Taino" hammock to replace hers, so I ordered another one today.

If you are looking for a great nights sleep, this is the hammock I would recommend.

Worth it!
It was more than I expected. It was easy to hang, looks good, and most of all it is as comfortable as advertised. Too bad I don't have more places to hang more hammocks.

Better Than a Bed
Proof positive that you don't have to hanging under a palm tree on a white sandy beach to fully appreciate the hammock experience! These hammocks are perhaps the most blissful place one can rest, and it really doesn't matter whether they are hung between support walls in your living room or strung between two trees in the backyard. I have spent countless hours perfecting my hammock posture and in the course of this perfection have test-driven a whole bunch of hammocks. I can, with absolute certainty, tell you that this hammock is the stuff dreams are made of. It is constructed of a durable and soft cotton that breathes with you and doesn't cause itchiness or that unpleasant "Plastic" feeling. When it is strung up right, you can either lay horizontally or vertically - it matters not because it's amazingly comfortable either way. Some of my most peaceful sleep and dreamiest dreams have come from hammock-induced slumber. I strongly recommend it for any and everyone considering their sleeping alternatives. Wonder of wonder! I love my hammock!
I love my hammock. I actually have 2 now, and they are both in my backyard. I like the white because it goes well with my yard, and sometimes with the multi colored ones you never know what you're going to get. It is also extremely comfortable. If you combine this with the smell of cut grass and a cool breeze and I think you may have just found the key to life.

One negative point about the hammock
I rated this hammock with four stars. Overall I really like my hammock. I like the feel of the hammock, the size of the hammock, and the nice crochet art work. I rated this hammock with four stars due to the fact it has no spreaders. I would like this hammock even more if it had spreaders.

The feeling of being engulfed in the hammock is actually an asset. The extra material in the hammock is to allow the user to stretch out comfortably. The traditional hammocks do not use a spreader bar to open the hammock up but rather use the object in it, namely you. A traditional hammock is meant to be lain in at a diagonal. This opens the hammock up considerably and flattens the curve of the hammock out. Try it. You have much more space and stability than a spreader bar hammock and he comfort is unsurpassed.

Great-looking!
Looks aren't everything, though...this is a beautiful hammock, but a single person using it is just engulfed in it as it folds up with their body weight! No crossbars on the ends to keep the hammock open, which makes it difficult to use at best. We're novice hammock users, so don't know if there's a trick to this or not. If there is, we haven't yet figured it out.

sturdy construction and support a lot of weight
nice stand, paint has faded a bit after a year being stored outside exposed to the elements, but isn't peeling or exposing any metal. There are 3 segments, they all fit together easily and are reinforced to prevent breakage or bending, but they're freely attached. So if you need to move your hammock stand you'll need 2 people unless you push it, if you pull it, one of the angled arms will slide out of the horizontal bar. You could probably fix this yourself by drilling a hole through the bottom (horizontal) bar and into one of the arms to screw in a bolt, but the steel is very thick, about 3/16" or 1/4" thick.

missing parts
After 2 tries finally got it; my wife ordered it for me(to go w/matching hammock) and after a month Amazon had to credit her cc because UPS sent it back due to damage. I order it and get in 2 weeks.It's easy to assemble/disassemble. If you buy it go out and get 2"S" hooks mine were missing(seems other reviewers had same issue). I did call their 800# and was happily accomodated by the pleasant operator who apologized and is sending out the hooks. I still give it high ratings based on easy assemble. I can't wait for my hooks--going out to see if I can find some today so I can enjoy it w/our 16mth old son!

This stand assembles easily and is perfect for large hammocks. Don't forget to get hooks and chains when you buy a hammock to fit this stand.

who's suppose to supply the hooks?
I was surprised to find someone with the same problem. Neither the hammock stand package nor the hammock package contained the necessary accessories to hang the hammock!
