1-0 out of 5 stars Waste of money! Be Warned!
I thought that this would work since it had the trusted name COLEMAN on it. HA! I have had this crappy trap running in my backyard for 2 weeks now and not one mosquito has stuck to the fly paper.

Sure the mosquitoes swarm around it. Just before they come over to the deck to bite me!

This garbage does not work. Shame on Coleman!

1-0 out of 5 stars Disappointed buyer
I have many mosquitos around my home.I read the directions to this device thoroughly and properly set up the "catcher."After three days, it did not catch one single mosquito, fly, or other insect.Do not buy this item.It is terrible.Thank goodness it comes with a 60 day money back guarantee. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Sweet
After spending last weekend sleeping on hard-packed soil, I bought an air bed tonight and picked one of these up at the same time. The air bed is a cheap full size non-Coleman brand and this little bugger filled it to a very comfortable pressure in about 5 minutes.
Inexpensive, efficient, compact and lightweight.
I'm very impressed.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good
The pump functions well, with good airflow, durability. The batteries have lasted for quite a while, although it takes 4 D. It worked on my non-coleman bed and comes with a special adapter nozzle, so I would not worry about that. I was going to buy an aerobed until I found this pump. The rechargeable pump was not available. I disagree with the comments about its strength and the nozzle.

1-0 out of 5 stars Not versatile
We bought this pump thinking it would work with all air matresses - not so.The nozzle only works with the QuickBed.Guess you can't believe everything you read in advertising.

5-0 out of 5 stars works like a charm
I got this pump for my coleman quickbed and it works wonderfully. It fully filled the airbed once I figured out the trick valve on the quickbed itself.Takes a couple of minutes to fill but way better than trying to blow it up yourself!

3-0 out of 5 stars Okay but not all it could be.
I have this battery powered pump and it works, but the electric version will fill the mattress to a much more firm comfort. It would be nice if the pump was AC/DC like a radio, and came with a longer cord and cigarette lighter adapter. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best I Found So Far
The material is very durable. The mattress is worth every cent. Comes with extra fabric if you need to repair it. When deflated, it's a little bigger then the box it came in, but not much. My Dog loves it to. Every time I turn around he's sleeping on my bed.

5-0 out of 5 stars Coleman maintains its cool
I've had this cooler for about six months. I find it to be a lot classier and better made than the plastic cooler it replaced. Despite what seems like a loose lid and flimsy latch, this cooler maintains it's cool in the heat, which is the primary reason I bought it. The lid is solidly hinged. I gave it five stars because it's a good deal for the money (I paid ~$85). Though someone complained that this cooler is not bear-proof, I have to ask whether there is such a thing. I recommend this to anyone who wants to have a reliable, good-looking cooler.

5-0 out of 5 stars classy and functional
We bought this to sit out on the porch when we have guests over (frees up space in the fridge), it's awesome!! Guests make comments about it all the time. Oh, and it keeps things cold too--definitely longer than a plastic cooler.

5-0 out of 5 stars Really keeps things cold for a long time
We bought one of these a year ago because 1) it was really stylush and 2) because my fiance believes that the steel coolers are better than the plastic ones. And she was totally right. Ice last a LONG time in the steel cooler. I'm sure a lot of it is due to the fact that it's silver and reflects the sun and heat.

We liked it so much, we got a second one and took it with us to the Burning Man festival in the Nevada desert, where it was quite hot. The steel cooler performed great. My only slight complaint is mentioned in other reviews is that the latch is kind of wimpy. It's not gonna spill your stuff, but it can be forced open easily. I wish they sold a non child proof replacement latch.

Anyway, after a week in the desert, we STILL had a little block ice left in second cooler. Mind you we didnt' open this one as much, but I was shocked to find ice in it after a week in the black rock desert.

This cooler rocks. Give it an option for a non child proof latch and it would be unbeatable!

3-0 out of 5 stars not quite the cooler you grew up with
Since Im willing to pay for quality, I broke down and bought this cooler. My family had the larger green 60s model that we used for decades. Im on the verge of taking this back however, as the latch doesnt completely seal the lid to the body when fully closed. From the looks of another review here that may be intentional, in case a (very small) kid somehow climbs into this and gets himself locked in, but I dont have kids like this either. You wont notice the large disclaimer stamped into the body of your expensive stainless steel cooler warning of possible suffocation until you get it out of the box, but the fact that its there supports this theory . Might just have to return this and keep my eye on garage sales to get the original.

4-0 out of 5 stars The good and the bad on this "cool" cooler
The good is that the cooler works great. I've used the cooler 4 times camping in Big Sur, Anza Borrego Desert, Sequoia, and Big Sycammore Canyon and the cooler keeps the ice for 5-days as advertised. My friend has to keep buying ice every 2 days to fill his plastic Coleman and Igloo coolers because he's got nothing but water left. The cooler also looks great and has sturdy handles to carry the cooler. On the bad side, my 6-year old daughter opened the door too far back and partially ripped the hinges off the lid. The lid didn't come off, but you can see the insulation in the lid around the hinges. This happened the second time I used the cooler, so I'm bummed. I'm just a little surprised that the lid ripped so easily. Also, the latch does not hold the lid tight shut, but this does not appear to affect the performance of the cooler in terms of keeping ice for 5-days. I do recommend this cooler. It's "cool" in terms of looks and performance! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars A great spotlight with several minor flaws
Before I start, I should advise that my version of this spotlight has a grey metal body with black plastic trim. There are several other variations I have seen; (red/black, "safety yellow", blue/white, camo). The functional differences appear to be these:
The position of the area light feature.
The grey model is aluminum; I think the others are all plastic.

I am writing this review after my initial inspection of the spotlight. The light is currently on its initial charge cycle; I will come back and complete the review when I have had an opportunity to examine the bulb performance and battery life.

First, let me say this this thing is _huge_.The pictures simply do not express the monster size of this lamp. The dimensions, as quoted from the owner's manual:

Height: 12 in (base to top)
Width: 7.4 in (across front of beam reflector assembly)
Length: 9 in (front to back of spotlight head)

This lamp is probably larger than most automotive emergency kits can accomodate.Still, I can think of no better lamp to have in a roadside emergency, and that makes it worth working around the bulk.I keep it in my car's trunk, in a large rubbermaid storage bin that accomodates both the lantern and several essentials for emergency repairs (fluids, a toolkit, etc.).

Some users may find the weight an annoyance. This lamp weighs in at a hefty 7.8 pounds, and may be uncomfortable to hold for extended periods.Given that most of the weight comes from the two lantern batteries, I will be disappointed if the lantern does not boast considerable battery life (I will return to report on battery life after the first charging cycle).

The spotlight is powered by two rechargeable 6V lead-acid lantern batteries. The first resides in the spotlight's base, adding weight where it's needed to maintain freestanding stability. The second battery is in the top, and while this does lend the unit a semi-topheavy balance, I don't think it would fall over except in a high wind.

The spotlight body is made of aluminum, which I found particularly impressive (as I expected plastic).Although this adds to the spotlight's already considerable weight, I think it's a great trade off for a heavy-duty lantern like this. The front and back of the spotlight are molded plastic "safety caps" (as they are called by the owner's manual). These I am not impressed with, as a "safety cap" should protect the unit.Cheap plastic offers no significant protection, and given the weight of this unit, the "safety cap" will undoubtedly break if it is ever dropped.I think these provide more marketing hype than they do actual safety. That being said, no lamp like this will survive unscathed if dropped from any significant height, so just don't drop it.

The big lens at the front of the lamp is surrounded by a protective rubber bezel.I think the bezel is hefty enough to absorb most normal shocks, and provides the best protection possible without compromising beam projection. This light would be made far superior if Vector exchanged the plastic "safety caps" for more rubber like the excellent front bezel.

The spotlight can be held by the pistol-grip style handle (I prefer the basket-style handles of some of the competing lamps, but it's a small compromise for what is overall a much better lantern). The spotlight also comes with a shoulder strap, which may make the weight a bit easier to cope with.Of course, it can also be left freestanding (though there is no way to angle the lantern up or down to illuminate a higher or lower work area).

The lantern has a 12 V receptacle in the front for running anything that can be plugged into your car's cigarette lighter (cell phones and the like). The safe current limit of this receptacle is 10 amps.A small rubber boot closes over the receptacle when not in use. This boot could have used a redesign, as it does not fit tightly inside the receptacle (it merely flops in and out with no insertion or removal force). This reduces the weather resistance of the spotlight; hardly an oversight one expects in a light advertised by Vector to be "water resistant".Annoying, but fixable with a bit of weatherproof sealing tape.

The back of the light has a three-position switch:

1.area light
2.single (one bulb lit - 1.5 million CP)
3.twin (both bulbs lit - 3 million CP)

The area light is more of a gimmick than a useful accessory. It's not bright enough to light up an area of any meaningful size. This fact means that anyone who needs both the spotlight and area light functions will end up buying a separate area light anyway, thus making its inclusion here redundant (though its inclusion does not detract from the quality of the excellent spotlight).

The spotlight is activated by sliding the rear selector switch to "single" or "twin" and squeezing the trigger.Sadly, the trigger does not lock "on" and "off"; as soon as you release it, the spotlight goes out. This is particularly disappointing, as the owner's manual advertises this as a "simple two-position lock trigger".The diagrams in the manual even show a lock switch on the side of the pistol grip that is mysteriously absent from my model. If this trigger locks, I can't figure out how (and the manual doesn't specify). The primary benefit of having a freestanding spotlight is the ability to ignite it, point it at your work area, and walk away. This frees both hands to work while the light provides illumination.I plan on resolving this by strategic application of a plastic zip tie.Not a perfect solution, but better than trying to change a tire with my right hand while balancing an 8 pound spotlight in my left.

The spotlight may be recharged by two methods:

12V / 500mA AC adaptor (included)
12V DC car cigarette lighter adaptor (included)

The instructions indicate a full charge cycle requires about 24 - 30 hours, and warns not to charge for more than 36 hours. This suggests that no overcharge protection circuitry was included in the AC adaptor's design (bummer).Fortunately, the base of the lantern has four LEDs that progressively indicate the current battery charge level. When all four LEDs are lit, disconnect the charger. The charging instructions repeatedly offer the dubious advice to recharge the batteries after every use (even on a partial discharge). What I know of Ni-Cad rechargeables tells me they should be drained completely prior to recharging, but I don't know if the same principle applies to lead-acid batteries.

Curiously, the AC and DC adaptors each use separate connections on the back of the spotlight.I assume this is attributable to 2 factors:

1.The AC adaptor is a trickle charger (a full charge takes over 20 hours). The DC (cigarette lighter) adaptor charges in 3 - 5 hours.
2.The AC adaptor can only recharge the batteries, while the DC adaptor can recharge the batteries and simultaneously power the spotlight (if your car's cigarette lighter can pump out the required 15 amps -- enough to nuke most cigarettes).

Both of the recharge connections are exposed to the elements (no rubber caps to speak of). This is another unfortunate oversight in a lamp that claims to be "water resistant".Vaguely annoying, but again, correctable with a bit of weatherproof sealing tape.

The lamp bulbs are a pair of automotive fog lamps (type H3 quartz halogen - 12V / 55W), easily found at any auto parts store.I purchased a pair of extra bulbs at Wal Mart for $8 (though you can spend up to $40/pair if you want the fancy blue ones).Unfortunately, changing the bulbs cannot be done without a Phillips screwdriver, which may be inconvenient if a bulb dies when no tools are available to disassemble the lamp housing.Consider it just one more reason to keep a toolkit in your car.

Pros:

Cool LED charge level indicator.
Solid aluminum construction.
12 total amp-hours of battery capacity.
Freestanding.
Handy 12V DC accessory charging receptacle.
Includes convenient carrying strap.

Cons:

Trigger does not lock, despite manufacturer's claim.
Not as water-resistant as advertised.
Portability is limited with a lamp this large.
No way to angle the lamp head up or down in freestanding operation.
Apparently useless area lamp feature.
No toolless bulb replacement.
AC adaptor has no overcharge protection circuit.
12V charging receptacle boot cover is a poor fit.

Despite the numerous minor complaints I have about the design of the Sport Spot, I am still very satisfied with my purchase. All of the flaws I've observed are either minor or easily corrected (or both).I have examined the competitors carefully, and I am confident this is the best lantern to stow in your car's emergency kit.

I will review the following aspects of the lamp's performance, and I will return to complete this review once I have gathered more info on:

1.Brightness
2.Battery life
3.Cost of replacement batteries
4.Support (yes, Vector offers a toll-free support line; and I intend to try it out)

5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic
Better and brighter than I ever expected. It makes my car headlights look dim in comparison. I couldn't find a tree far enough away that I couldn't illuminate!

The earlier comments about it being like a helicopter spotlight - absolutely true! 10 out of 10.

5-0 out of 5 stars this is like carrying a piece of the sun around!
very solid and brightest light i have ever used

4-0 out of 5 stars can't miss
This'll double as a Highway Radar Gun for tax-challenged counties, as a peacemaker for shotgun-bereft homeowners, and an adequate Interrogation Light for third-world tyrants without dependable power grids. Both Stevie Wonder and Ray Charles ought to see the light with this sucker. Water-resistant? Dunno. Type of sealed battery? Dunno. Vector's previous 9-pound 3-million candlepower twin-halogen torch, the VEC139Y, a.k.a. ASIN B000077CPB, uses environmentally unfriendly Lead-Acid; what about the VEC-120S? FYI, CCFL means Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp. When the conversation dies down, point out the Battery Status Indicator's current reading... Since love is blind, 'tis better to study one's potential consort REAL good beforehand with the Vector 120S or 139Y. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Perfect Pack
This pack is great, i use it for snowboarding, white water rafting and some hiking. extra storage pockets come in handy. very durable.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Hydration Pack vs. camelbak
I actually have the bag that's just smaller than this but they both use the same two liter cyclone bladder. Unlike some of the reviews here I have yet to have a single problem with my bag. I bike to and from work 22 miles one way, five days a week. Part of the instructions that come with this bag is to squeeze the bag to insure no leaks after filling. I have yet to have the bladder leak on me. I made sure the hose is securely tightened into the bladder and that the cap is properly tightened also. I also carry keys, bug spray, headlight, wallet etc. etc. in my bag everyday. I haven't had one problem yet and highly recommend this hydration pack to anyone considering it.

4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Hydration Pack
I really like this pack-- I have used it to MTB and run. I noticed other people commenting on the water pouch leaking. Check to make sure the water tube is screwed on tightly where it connects with the pouch. After having mine for over 4 months mine started leaking after I read the reviews (go figure!). By screwing the tube on tigher the problem was fixed. The only cheap thing about this pack is the cordlet zipper pulls-- I had one pop off-- but it was an easy fix. Much cheaper than a camel back, and in my opinion a better value.

4-0 out of 5 stars just fine
I bought this pack last year and have used it many times over. I have used it in Arizona under extreme heat and in California and Nevada. Never had any problems with the bladder. My only complaints are that the bladder is only 2L not 3L and there isn't an insulation tube around the exposed tube leading to the bladder. The water in the tube has a tendency to warm up. I love all the extra room, I can store my personal items plus extra food and water bottles for the dog. I would highly recommend this pack to others.

4-0 out of 5 stars Handle With Care
I bought this pack back over a year ago and broke it within two hours....but it was my fault...I dropped a full bladder on a concrete floor....and bam....split the seem. After replacing the bladder...I've filled it with water as well as, first aid, a lot of food, rain-gear, GPS, sunglasses, knife, wallet, film, and a very bulky, very heavy 35mm camera....I'll vouch for this bag. the other hacks using and breaking it may need a bullet proof water bladder....handle it with care and it will go far. I've done without the over-priced camel-back for a year now. This is a good bag....never leaked a drop on me. I hiked up Guadalupe Mountains National Park with it...and have done all the trails at Mammoth Cave with it. I love this pack ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

Designed for use with large-scale deep-fry pots, theelectric oil pump from Eastman Outdoors extends the life of cooking oiland cuts down on cleanup mess. The pump transfers oil from a cookingpot to a storage container, with the option of filtering particulatesalong the way to make oil cleaner for reuse. Powered by an AC adapter, the device takes oil in through a long nozzle, pumps it through afilter cap, and releases it through a hose. Assembly and use is simpleand tidy, though some dripping is inevitable. The pump is not suitablefor purifying oil or for filtering other liquids, and it should only beused when oil is at or below 90 degrees F. --Emily Bedard ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Works with reservation
This pump is a step backwards from the previous two battery version (this one has three batteries). The additional battery make it too heavy on the top so it doesn't sit well in the pot. It has a tendency to tip over, or at least shift from the position you set it at.

I would agree with some of the other reviews that it seems to loose power after the first use. The thicker the oil, the harder a time it has. If you heat the oil before filtering, it works much better. Note that you don't want to get the oil too hot - perhaps nothing hotter than 100 degrees. I cracked the clear tube in my old two-battery one by running boiling water through it (requiring the purchase of this model).

If you can find the older version, I highly recommend it, but the three battery version is definately a step backwards.

1-0 out of 5 stars Pump dies during first use
I had bought the battery version of this pump as gifts for other turkey fryers and bought the electric one for myself two months ago. Used it for the first time today, all was well until the pump lets out a little smoke and quit after pumping 4.5 gal of room temp oil. I called the Eastman Outdoors help line and they were very good about offering to ship out a new unit but had no advice on why the pump died or whether this has been a common problem.

I'll see how the replacement unit works out the next time I do a turkey. Now I'm wondering how the battery versions I bought for gifts worked out in comparison.

1-0 out of 5 stars The easy way to poor out the oil (after cool)
This is a must have for anyone who has trouble lifting 5 gallons of oil in a slippery cooker. The pump is the same as the ones that pump kerosene. So you can get the same thing cheap locally if you don't want to wait for shipping. Fast, self priming, easy.

*** Don't try to move hot oil *** Do turn off flames ***

Hot oil will quickly melt the plastic pump and the plastic will stick to the sides of the fryer and ruin your oil and machine. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars FANTASTIC TENT FOR FAMILIES
I'M A REGULAR CAMPER (30 YEARS AND MORE) AND WE BOUGHT THIS TENT LAST YEAR FOR THE FAMILY. IT WORKS GREAT...WE HAVE 4 KIDS AND ITS BIG ENOUGH FOR ALL OF US WITH SOME ROOM TO SPARE. WE PUT AIR MATTRESSES IN EACH OF THE SIDE ROOMS AND THE KIDS DOUBLE UP 2 TO A SIDE. WE PUT A SLEEPING BAG INSIDE - UP ON THE FLOOR IN THE MIDDLE ROOM LIKE A CARPET (IN CASE SOMEONE CRAWLS OUT OF THE SLEEPING BAG DURING THE NIGHT). YES, IF IT RAINS YOU GET SOME WATER, BUT ONLY WHERE SOMETHING TOUCHES THE SIDES - THAT'S TYPICAL ON ANY TENT. OUR ONLY COMPLAINT WOULD BE THE ZIPPERS..THEY RUN TOP TO BOTTOM,THEY SHOULD GO BOTTOM TO TOP . THE SET UP IS NOT THAT COMPLICATED - IT DOES GET EASIER WHEN YOU'VE DONE IT A FEW TIMES.SO IS THE PACKING UP. WE CAMP SPRING, SUMMER AND FALL - WE'RE ON OUR SECOND SEASON WITH IT AND SO FAR VERY HAPPY. ITS A GREAT TENT. A LITTLE PRICY - BUT WORTH IT.

2-0 out of 5 stars Soaked in Big Sur!
I have purchased many Eddie Bauer products in the past and I have been pleased until now. I am very disappointed with this product and will never stray from Coleman again. Some of the reasons I picked this item was because of the price and features, such as the gear lofts. However after putting just one item within it, it broke. The zippers, mainly on the front door were continously getting stuck in several spots all the way around which was pretty aggravating. Although the forecast for our camping weekend was supposed to be dry until after we left we did put on the rain flaps just in case, but to no avail because it suddenly started raining and did so for the next eight hours straight and it leaked like a siv almost the entire time! There wasn't one dry spot to be found inside this tent just four hours into the rain. It made for a cold, wet and miserable camping trip. Another very important point, and just to note that this was not an isolated incident, is that we were camping with three families between two campsites and one of the families had a tent identical to ours as well as using it for the first time, they experinced IDENTICAL problems! They threw theirs out the next day, I just wish I could get my money back.

5-0 out of 5 stars Dependable Tent!
This tent did the trick! We took a couple of trips this summer and the tent is easy to set-up, and did not leak in (light) rain. I'm not a die-hard camper, so I wouldn't know how this tent compares to more expensive ones. With all of our gear, it fit 2 adults and 2 kids pretty comfortably--any more gear or people would have been too crowded. Good value for the $.

4-0 out of 5 stars Strudy Tent
An incredibly sturdy tent! The first time we used this tent, it survived a severe thunderstorm and tornado. Where other tents could have blown over or the have the poles bent, this tent stayed intact throughout an entire night of violent storms. The only drawback was that the seams leaked a little from the horizontal rain, but during a lighter rain, it kept us dry. This tent is easy to put together and roomy, we slept 3 adults plus all our provisions. The tent gets great ventilation and has lots of storage space. It is a great deal for the price.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Times, Great Tent
My husband bought this tent for our first camping trip. While he started the fire, I set up the tent. It was soo easy. It is large enough for three adults, but two adults and a kiddo allows for breathing room. It was well worth our money and I am looking forward to future trips. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Heats great, but found small problem
I've taken this heater camping about 4 times and it works great. I try not to use it all night, so I turn it on while we are getting ready to go to sleep and keep it on for an hour. I then turn it off and turn it back on in the morning for about 30 minutes before getting up. The push-button starter is very useful and allows me to turn it on fairly quick without having to look for a match or lighter. This unit stands on the floor and blows the heat at an angle. This is great since it can heat the tent across the sleeping bads. Other units heat up and you don't get the heat across the tent and it goes straight up to the ceiling of the tent. However, the threads on the unit where the propane bottle attaches are wearing off. I'm having problems attaching the propane cans as they fit in an angle and are hard to align.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good heater, but...
This heater is great. It puts out a good amount of heat, and the fan does a good job of projecting that heat. My only gripe is the advertised life of a can of propane. It's supposed to last up to eight hours in this heater, but it hasn't come close yet. If you're lucky, you'll get six hours. It sucks when it goes out in the middle of the night and the fan continues to blow cold air. This thing is great as long as you plan on getting up once in the middle of the night to change the propane can.

4-0 out of 5 stars a fantastic heater!
Just back from a cold and rainy columbus day weekend camping trip in the White Mountains, and this heater was the item that saved the weekend! on a cool night(45deg.) this easily brought the temp inside my large coleman tent above 70(it was downright hot!). On a raw rainy afternoon my daughter and I could tough-it-out in great comfort in the tent. and the following 35degree morning was nice and toasty inside! This will definitely increase the enjoyment and comfort of your "shoulder season" camping. In an emergency I've little doubt that this could easily heat a 9x12 room.
Lights quickly with no matches, wide base is very stable, fan is quiet and really makes a difference in heating a larger area, no odor/fumes. unit is larger than it looks, standing about 15" tall...but it fits in an old bookbag size backpack for easy transport.

oh and this price on target is surprisingly low, I paid more!

4-0 out of 5 stars Portable, safe, and easy to use
This heater works well for local heating rather than trying to heat an entire room. We put it near the couch while watching tv on chilly nights -- to just take the edge off. It starts easily and works for a number of hours on a propane canister. The fan makes a big difference but does eat up batteries fairly quickly. Update (2/2004) -- The front screen simply fell off after over a year of heavy use and I was unable to reattach it. I plan to buy another. ... Read more
