Lovely to look at - attractive to birds
I was concerned that the birds would not come to the feeder because of the concealed feeding holes, but I brewed my first batch of nectar a little stronger as the instructions recommended and they were feeding within an hour of putting it up. I have another feeder - a traditional one - in another part of the yard, which they prefer (it has the resting arms that the other reviewer recommends) but this is a nice alternative for the birds that are chased away from that feeder. Because of the complex structure of the mobile, I've not had any trouble with ants at all, as I do with my other one! It's also amazingly easy to clean. I've found with other feeders, the little plastic flowers eventually break off. The glass globes can even be washed in the dishwasher (but be sure to rinse them afterwards to get rid of any detergent residue that can harm birds).

The birds love it!
We have had a wonderful time watching the hummers use this feeder. They are especially active at twilight. We often get 6 - 8 birds fighting over spots and one evening I counted at least 10!

I have had no problems with leaking and the feeder is really easy to refill. Good thing because I have to fill it at least twice a week.

Pretty to look at...but ours is a LEAKY MESS!!!
We are having bad luck with the hummingbird feeder. It leaks the liquid sugar solution all over the patio. Hummingbirds like it, but not as much as the ANTS!! I will try to get a refund or exchange it...maybe ours is just a reject!

A work of art
One of my best catalog purchases ever, it's simply beautiful. Has survived many strong wind storms. I just love it.

Beautiful and sturdy
We received this feeder as a Christmas gift and were delighted with it. It survived two rather violent wind storms this spring(gusts upwards of 55 mph)-- though one globe blew down, it did not break, or even crack. The only loss has been the bottom cap for one of the globes (eaten by our dog) so now we can't fill that globe. Like another reviewer, I wish that part were sold separately. The glass is red
The bit about red colored solution being bad for the birds is true, but this particular feeder has a red-colored *bottle*. You should still put clear feeding solution in it.

I actually own a much older version of this product, which has a purple bottle and no etchings. Same thing though, and it still works well several years later. I don't find it easy to clean if you are not faithful about cleaning it though. The narrow neck of the bottle makes it hard to remove any residue that may build up.

But it's easy to use and looks really great. Worth the money.

This product is everything I was looking for. I wanted a RED feeder because red really does attract the hummingbirds & I refuse to use food coloring or anything other than 4 parts water to 1 part sugar to my feeders because anything else can make them sick. The feeder is a perfect size, I don't like the real big feeders because I change the nectar every 3 days & the big feeders just waste the nectar. This feeder is also very attractive & adds a unique look to the garden. The way the bottom is shaped allows the little hummingbirds to take a break & perch which is so cute to see! The feeder is also very easy to clean, I use a long bottle brush I bought from a dollar store & it works even in the smallest of spaces. I highly recommend this feeder especially if someone is trying to attract hummingbirds but hasn't yet- the red really catches their eye! Plant some red Bee Balm (latin name Monarda)near this feeder & they wont be able to stay out of your yard!

Form & Function Meet
I have owned one of these feeders for several years, and I am pleased with its appearance and no-hassle care routine. The feeder is made from high quality materials and is well-crafted. I am confident that (as long as I don't drop it onto concrete of course - it's glass) it will last for many years. For the most part, feeders I see at my local chain pet store do not inspire me with the same confidence.

The shape makes it easy to clean with a long-handled bottle brush, unlike some bulbous or other creatively shaped feeders that, while decorative, would make cleaning a chore. (Keeping hummingbird feeders clean is important for the health of the birds.) I use Schrodt's brush, but it stands to reason that any long-handled bottle brush will do just fine.

As has been mentioned in other reviews, yes, it is more expensive, but if one intends to seriously pursue an interest in hummingbird-watching, this is a feeder that will last and whose unobtrusive beauty would enhance any area in which it is displayed.

quite pretty and functional
This is a very pretty hummingbird feeder made with red glass so you don't need to color the solution. The etchings on the glass are pretty and it's easy to refill the feeder, which comes with instructions. It's expensive for a feeder but the quality is very good and I am happy with the purchase.

False Flipper
This Squirrel Proof feeder is a great idea in theory. But they fail to tell you until you open the box and read the instructions that their Yankee Flipper doesn't work with Red Squirrels. I am now the proud owner of an expensive Red Squirrel feeder. Their claim of a Squirrel Proof feeder sounds like false advertising to me.

Absolutely works!
I have had my Yankee Flipper for more than 2 years now, and it works perfectly.I am almost disappointed that the Squirrels don't try anymore - except for the occasional rookie who quickly discovers that there is no food to be had here.

A couple of points I wanted to add to the other reviews:

1. Droll Yankees customer support is excellent. Some squirrel(s) managed to scratch or bite a small hole into the clear tube, right below the top of the feeder.One quick phone call, and a new feeder tube was in the mail to me at no cost.Impressive!

2. I initially charged the feeder while it was hanging on my deck, until the squirrels chewed up the cable where it plugs into the wall.Afterwards I bought two sets of NiMH batteries (Better than the NiCD that come with the feeder) and I charge them in a wall charger.This way I always have a fresh set ready, and changing them only takes a couple of minutes (unscrew three thumbscrews on the bottom of the feeder, swap batteries, replace screws).

It is a lot of money for a bird feeder, but well worth it!

Yankee Flipper has the answer!
I previously wrote that I had a squirrel that was able to lock up the ring. I contacted customer service and they were so professional and helpful to send me a replacement motor. Well the new one is stronger and faster and no squirrel can stop it! It is almost as awesome as Yankee Droll's customer service! I take back my 4 stars happily. Enjoy the show!

Satisfaction at last
OK, I'm an engineer.I even mounted sheet metal panels along the land and airborne assault routes the squirrels would use to get to the feeder.As a result the house looked like a battleship but the little robber-barons were still on the feeder chowing down the seed.I had to fill it nearly every day.We did not want to move the feeder from our rear window, and the Mrs. was not keen on me escalating to the next level of defensive measures!The Yankee Flipper has done the job, provided us great entertainment, and its large capacity means far fewer reminders to "please fill the bird feeder." ... Great feeder, but watch the raccoons
Yes, it's a great feeder-it provides a variety of feeds for a variety of birds. We have had an older non-copper (looking) model for two years in two homes and ,up until now, it was industrictible. Yes, we had to position it to keep off the squirrels but the feeder kept a lot of birds (and us) happy. Unfortunately, a group of raccoons recently discovered the feeder and my anti-squirrel measures have not worked. The worst part is that the heavy weight of a raccoon landing on the tray has caused it to break, spilling the entire contents of the feeder on the ground. They too were very happy. The bottom tray and the tabs that attach it to the tubes are plastic, like the rest of the feeder, and will break, given enough force. If you don't have any raccoons, this is still one of the best feeders that I have seen. In fact, I will order another one because I've since discovered a better way to keep the critters off.

This gift was a perfect house warming gift for a friend. Something they could admire outside there new family room window. It's attractive and functional and does not impose on the decor of a new home.

Functional Feeder
This is an attractive-looking, well-designed bird feeder; a best buy. Warning: It loads up with a massive amount of seed--a positive--but it'll crash heavily and destructively to the ground unless you secure it well (not fault of feeder--due to my stupidity). I'm buying an exact replacement feeder now, wouldn't consider any other brand.

I read the other reviews for this product so I was made aware of the fact that this feeder is made of plastic & not copper. I wasn't concerned because the feeder is absolutely gorgeous anyway! I had recently purchased other copper feeders & houses & this one fit right in with my decor. It is indestructible but squirrles do get thier share of food from it because the bottom is large enough for them to sit in. I don't mind because I adore squirrels & the birds get plenty of time on it also. I recommend this for anyone who likes the look of copper & if you don't want squirrles to use it be sure & hang it from a place where they can't get to it. The extra large top of this feeder does pose some problems for them but they are persistant & can figure out ways around it.

Holds a lot of seed
The birds and I are quite pleased with this feeder because it holds more than a week's worth of seed and has several perches to accommodate multiple eaters. Note that the top and bottom are plastic, not copper, but it is an attractive product. Mine is hanging on the front porch so the seeds stay dry, the squirrels can't jump onto it, and I can watch the birds from my kitchen window. Feeding hummingbirds
Since I have used this feeder for many years, I ordered three new ones. The glass construction is the best, because the glass does not cloud up like plastic does. The size is great because we have a lot of hummingbirds in our desert home area, and the liquid food goes fast. I refill once a week, and refrain from filling it to the top, in order to not waste. I have tried other feeders through the years, but this is the best.

Hummingbirds' Favorite Feeder
I have three of these feeders on my front porch now and am thinking of purchasing three more because they seem to be my hummingbirds' favorite feeders. During the months of August and September each year we have between 70 and 100 hummingbirds at one time coming to 15 different types of feeders hanging on our front porch. Nice design but poorly attached hanger
I have had one of these for four years, and it's a nice feeder, except, as others have noted here, the plastic part you hang it with is just glued on, and it fell off not long after I got the feeder. Luckily the feeder was hanging over soft mulch in the veggie garden and not the rocks by the foundation of the house, so the glass globe did not break. I re-attached the hanger with Plumber's Goop (ranked next to duct tape in importance as a "Handyman's Secret Weapon") and it held OK. The problem seems to be that whatever Opus is using for an adhesive simply does not bond plastic to glass very well. Also, the little hole for inserting the s-hook is pretty small -- I ended up using thin wire instead. Yet another problem is that the glass globe is difficult to clean inside by hand (we don't have a dishwasher) because the hole is too small to admit the average bottle brush. Because of all this futzing around, I'm only giving it three stars, even though the hummingbirds love it and it look pretty when the sun shines through the glass.

major design flaw
I purchased this model last summer. The plastic hook broke off very soon after it was hung. It appears to have been simply glued onto the top of the feeder. I have made several unsuccessful attempts to to reattach the hook. The feeder is now useless.

OPUS 447 Garden Song 10-Ounce Glass Hummingbird Feeder
I have enjoyed using this Hummingbird Feeder but find it difficult to keep cleaned. But the size if perfect for hummingbirds and works well in my yard.

Broke it as soon as I got it
Maybe it's just me, but as soon as I went to pinch the s-hook hanger provided with the feeder together, the glass eye the feeder is supposed to hang by broke. It would have been better to provide some sort of ring already in through the hole so pinching the s-hook together wouldn't cause the feeder to break.

Well, now it's hanging by a makeshift cord "holder" I created. I gave the product 3 stars because it is easy to fill, easy to clean, and the hummingbirds in my yard had no problems switching from my UV weakened bottle-feeder to this feeder. I deducted one star because my birds seem to like a perch and this feeder doesn't have one, and one star for not providing a hanger already in the glass eye that the feeder hangs from. Hey guys, guess what! Glass is fragile, I'm an idiot, make it idiot-proof!

THE BIRDS LOVE THIS!!!
The birds in my yard are attracted to this fountain like crazy!!!

Birds are attracted to the sound of running water-- and this fountain is just what they love!

Finches and many other types of birds love my fountain- they not only drink the water- but they also love to play in it, splash around and clean themselves. It is fascinating to watch them!

Since it is so essential to offer water to birds- this type of water source is, in my opinion, the absolute best.

It supplies clean, running and a constant flow of water-- and it is so convenient because you don't have to keep filling it up every day like traditional bird baths.

My only (minor) complaint is that the little plastic spray tip does seem to pop off easily- but you can find replacements at hardware stores.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

Birds Galore!
We were worried that the water spilling over the edge would be a problem, but it isn't at all ( we turn it off at dark). Actually, we put a pile of rocks underneath the bath and created a spot to collect the overflow, and that created a bath place that the ground birds love. The water is always clean, and you never have to go out and fill it! We have had the bath up for several months and there are birds in it every day, all day long.

The VERY BEST birdbath on the market!
This is the very best birdbath I have ever owned... and I have owned quite a few. Prior to owning this one, I hadn't had much luck attracting birds. With this birdbath, I now have beautiful birds of all kinds flocking (sorry, I couldn't resist) to the birdbath! And, they actually splash around and *bathe* in this thing! It is quite a sight to see and everyone who visits comments on it.

I surrounded it with plants that like "wet feet" since it does produce quite a bit of overflow (if you turn it up all the way, which is how my birds like it).

If you're serious about attracting birds and butterflies, buy one.

Great Clean Design
Unlike a lot of birdbaths, this one has a very clean design (i.e.: lacking cherubs, fake birds, Romanesque column, etc.). This simple design in redwood and copper (which patinas to green) looks great in a natural or Japanese style garden. It is also very durable, and repairing it would be very easy (should the mister nozzle become clogged or lost). We've had ours 3 years and have yet to replace the nozzle. I was initially concerned that the nozzle would become lost, as the copper bowl is pinned in place only by the tiny black plastic nozzle (mated to the water tubing within the copper standpipe). I used silicone to prevent large birds or errant gardeners from toppling it (gluing the copper bowl to the redwood pedestal), though this may not have been necessary (though it didn't change it's appearance). In any case a spare nozzle was included and they are readily available at large garden/hardware stores or from the manufacturer as another reviewer states. The amount of water if left running all day is fairly minimal and -bonus- it will make for happy plants around the base (our strawberries do very well! -with plenty for us and the birds.) Another suggestion would be a water timer, so that you can control for what hours it runs... though we often leave ours on continuously. ... Read more
