Leave no hedge untrimmed: The 24-inch Hedge Hog eats up branches up to 3/4-inch thick without blinking. The dual-action blades work smoothly and quickly with less vibration, further dampened by the full-sized, three-sided soft-grip comfort handle. A lock-on switch prevents trigger-finger fatigue, and the lock-off eliminates accidental starting. Electric power is environmentally friendly and quieter, too, plus it’s always ready when you are. The super long reach of the 24-inch dual blades is a nice switch from shorter varieties, meaning less dangerous reaching for the user. No assembly is needed: Open the box, plug it in, and trim.--Kris Jensen-Van Heste ... Read more

  • Exclusive blade design cuts branches up to 3/4"

5-0 out of 5 stars Cuts thick woody bushes like they were butter!
I bought the B&D HS2400 electric hedge trimmer after a fiasco with B&D's CHT500 cordless trimmer. (See my review of it.) It's already assembled, so there's nothing more to do besides remove it from the box and plug it in.

The handle is comfortable and easy to hold both horizontally and vertically. Its good balance makes it very easy to handle. The trigger is large and easy to depress. The lock is a bit difficult to engage, and I find it easier to just hold the trigger down.

But, this trimmer really shines when it comes to cutting. I have about 100 feet of honeysuckle bushes that grow to be about eight feet tall every year. They're incredibly woody and difficult for smaller trimmers to cut. The first thing I did with the HS2400 was to sweep it across the honeysuckles about five feet off the ground. It cut through them like butter. The dual-action blades virtually eliminate vibration, and I easily guided the trimmer through the bushes. The 24" blade reduces the amount of time you spend trimming as well as helping you make a straighter cut. The trimmer worked equally well on the front sides. I cut through those bushes faster than my kids could stack the branches. My wife was cutting the front sides with our old B&D 16" trimmer and it was faster for me to just do the whole thing with the HS2400.

Black & Decker states that the trimmer can cut up to 3/4" branches, and it does that with ease. Most trimmers struggle when they reach their maximum capacity, but the HS2400 just lops them right off. If you don't hold the trimmer steady, a few branches might be a bit ragged at the ends, but it's easy to trim them again to clean up the edge.

The hook that holds the extension cord to prevent it from being yanked out of the pigtail is a bit small and the opening a bit tight. I'd like a slightly larger opening and a larger hook, but it holds the cord. In about three hours of use, it only fell out once. It would be easy enough to use a small PVC cable tie or rubber band to improvise a different way of securing it, but I don't think it's worth the effort.

Please keep the extension cord in mind when using an electric trimmer. Buy a bright orange or yellow cord. In my opinion, despite their neon color, the bright green ones are less noticeable in bushes and grass. Also, buy twice as much cord as you think you'll need. You want to have about fifteen feet of cord next to you, and patio furniture, trees, and other obstacles inevitably reduce the amount you have available. Spending an extra two dollars for another fifty feet will ensure that you don't have to worry about your extension cord. Plus, you'll be especially glad of the extra length if you have to trim the other side of a hedge. Trust me--my old fifty foot cord has two sets of electrical tape where my old trimmer bit through it because it was too difficult to manage a shorter cord.

Update: I finished the hedges today and, although I was careful not to hit my chain link fence, I didn't notice a bean plant holder. The trimmer doesn't cut through 1/8" steel rod. In fact, it torqued one of the teeth so badly that the blade is ruined. My fault. I'll see if it can be repaired cheaply enough, but if it can't, I'll buy another one. That's how much I like this trimmer.

HS2400 summary:
Cuts incredibly well, even 3/4" woody branches (but not steel)
You rarely need multiple passes.
Well-designed and balanced.
Easy to maneuver. No vibration.
Comfortable handles and easy to use horizontally and vertically.
No vinyl blade sheath (unlike the CHT500--why?).

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best Electric Hedge Trimmer
Like the other reviewer, I am exclusive to electric garden tools. This Hedge Hog is the longest and most powerful hedge trimmer made and it is by far my favorite tool. It makes light work of most shrubs and really allows for precise sculpting of shrubs. I have even used it to chop up branches in my compost bin, which it was able to do with aplomb. The controls are safe, and I find that tying the extension cord a second time around the handle leaves it secure. (The danger with the extension cord becoming unplugged is if the tool is locked "on" when you plug it back in.)

My only complaints are that this Hedge Hog is slightly heavy and I wish that it were 36" long when I'm trimming bigger hedges. Nevertheless, this is so far the biggest size they make. I would buy it again and again.

1-0 out of 5 stars Piece of garbage
This trimmer works great when you get it home. But after a few uses, the teeth wear down, get pitted and dinged. I keep my tools clean, and it was disheartening after each use of this trimmer to note the progressive wear on the supposedly hardened steel teeth. I probably wasted all that time cleaning it after each use because it ended up in the trash so quickly. This hedge trimmer is essentially disposable.

After 3 uses, you start to learn which teeth won't chew through a branch. After 6, it won't cut anything bigger than 3/8 inch. After 10 uses, it won't cut through 1/8 inch. A couple more uses, and it won't cut through tall grass.

Unlike other B&D models, you can not buy replacement blades for this model. Why not, you ask? I suspect it's the dual action design, which means it'd be tricky to tune the blades if you did replace them. And what's more, they're not really something you can sharpen yourself. The teeth have an odd spur on them, so a file won't do the trick.

But let's say you're like me. You sharpen your shovels, you sharpen your drill bits, you sharpen your saws, so you take a stab at sharpening the trimmer teeth. What you'll discover after the first few strokes of a file is that the steel is soft. The good news is, it won't take long to sharpen each tooth. The bad news is, there's 42 of them, and each one has two sides. But the deal killer is that the edge won't last more than a few uses.

Get a different model, even if it's a couple of inches shorter. You'll save time and money in the long run. And remember, a dull trimmer is a dangerous trimmer, especially if you're on a ladder.

5-0 out of 5 stars Powerful and easy to use.
It seemed to me that this would be a big improvement over the manual hedge trimming I had done in the past. I was right. This machine is terrific. This is especially true because some of my shrubs are older and a bit overgrown with larger branches (I am NOT a master gardner). This machine goes through the small stuff like it isn't there. You caan sculpt your bushes quite easily and quickly with this great device.

I had no trouble with the trigger, buttons, or the cord. I like the safety features that help me keep my hands far away from the moving blades.

This is one of my favorite tools. It makes trimming your hedges a breeze.

4-0 out of 5 stars Better than other electrics, but not ideal
This B&D Hedge trimmer does a far better job trimming hedges/shrubs than any other electric I have ever used. It's main feature is that it can handle branches much thicker than most competitors. (I find it very useful when trimming my out-of-control holly trees.) However, don't expect this to be a tool sturdy enough to pass down to your grandkids.

When doing trimming of twig-size branches, it does about as well as any electric; you just pass it over the branches, and they just fall away. However, that is work you could be doing quite easily with a good pair of manual trimmers.

Where this really shines is with the thicker stuff. Because of the way the blade is designed, it makes steady work of any branch that will fit in it's substantial blade. However, while you are cutting these thick, woody branches, it doesn't exactly cut them like a pair of scissors; instead, it shakes like crazy while sawing away at the branch. You just have to keep applying gentle pressure to the branch (you don't want to stall the motor), and hold on tight. It isn't going to wrench itself out of your hands, but it may wander off target unless you keep a firm grip.

Many other electrics cannot handle branches larger than about a 1/4". (They claim 3/8, but who are they kidding?) This one can handle branches up to a shade over 1/2" without too much trouble. If you expect to do a lot of large branches, you really need to get a gas trimmer. ... Read more

From extra seats for a party to a comfortable perch for the front porch, these stylish chairs serve a variety of indoor or outdoor needs. Plus, when you’re through, they fold neatly for storage. Combined with Strathwood’s matching round folding table (not included), they make an attractive bistro-style suite for al fresco dining.

If they’re left outdoors, slotted seats allow rain to drip through rather than collect and damage the wood. Both chairs made from kapur wood, a high-density Southeast Asian hardwood with excellent weather-resistant properties. Light enough to move easily around deck or lawn, kapur requires no finishing and is exceptionally-sturdy--with enough oil to repel the ravages of rain, sun, and dew. Rust-resistant hardware and mortise and tenon construction also add to the pieces’ strength and durability.

Beforeshipment, your new furniture received a generous applicationof teak oil. Teak oil provides protection from the ultravioletsunrays. Left untreated, Kapur will weather to a soft warmshade of gray similar to the weathering of teak. If you preferto prevent this weathering process, you may apply additionalcoats of teak oil. 1-0 out of 5 stars You get what you pay for.
These chairs are cheap, unfortunatly they are of poor quality.I weigh 200lbs and the chair did not support me and broke under my weight.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good value for your money
We've had the 30-inch table and four dining chairs for a year now. We placed the set out on the west-facing balcony for 8 months (took them in between November-March)and it has done pretty well in Seattle conditions of occasional rain and cold overnight temperatures. I think they are a great buy for the money and they look much more expensive than they are (of course don't expect teak craftsmanship for $100).

The finish could be better (it looks like it could use another round of sanding, that's why I gave them 4/5) and their unusual dimensions make finding cushions for the chairs impossible. But they are really confortable and an ideal size for a balcony, and the table comes with a closable hole in the middle if you'd like to add an umbrella. Some other buyers said their chairs broke but we did not have any problems like that. My husband weighs 230lb and he has no problem seating for 1-2 hours on these chairs. However, they do look like they are better off with less weight on them. Well, again... don't expect a super A quality product for the price.

All in all it's a good, B+/A- quality set, and you can't beat the value for the money. Just remember to brush them with some teak oil once or twice a year so they can retain their wonderful, warm color.

1-0 out of 5 stars Be Very Careful!
These chairs are not sturdy, and ultimately dangerous.Does not hold a 150 male - the chair broke apart into pieces causing a very hard fall.
Not Amazon quality, sorry to say.

3-0 out of 5 stars Serviceable
These chairs are of acceptable structural quality but feel a bit undersized -- especially for American rear ends. The finish appears to be easily scratched but that can be repaired with a little tongue oil or other wood finishing product. Comfort level is decent for occasional use but not for lengthy sitting periods.A reasonable chair for the money when free shipping is considered. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent quality for price
I did not know anything about Kapur wood when I saw this table on Amazon.com. I did some research, and after being satisfied by what I had read concerning Kapur, I purchased the table. It arrived in excellent condition, and was easy to assemble - you simply need to attach the legs. The finish is beautiful and comes with a generous coat of teak oil to protect it from the elements. The table is very sturdy and looks gorgeous on my patio. Looking at the wwod, you can tell that Kapur is a very dense and durable wood. This is an excellent substitute to teak, which I find simply too expensive. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The best and most fun cooking tool!
We bought the Big Kahuna Burner with the gigantic 22" stainless steel wok. It is absolutely the best cooking tool we have ever bought! The burner gets incredibly hot, between 65-85,000 BTU's, making dinner easy to cook in 10 minutes. Stir fries are absolutely simple, with the meats incredibly tender without any special coating or marinades. Tonight we just made the best and lightest fried calamari ever, using the recipe from the Simply Ming cookbook. The kitchen never gets hot with this outdoor cooker, and there is never a problem with ventilation :) Highly highly recommended! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great garden addition
I'm a big fan of "glow in the dark".I enjoy them a lot and am always looks for interesting and "off the wall" items.I requested this as a birthday present and even though my partner thought I was a bit "odd", I received this as a gift.I love it!!The blue doesn't glow, but the "white swirl" does -- quite brightly and for a long time.I have a very small lavendar garden and have this as part of that garden, so it gets a lot of sun during the day, with no shadows.By night fall, the swirl is very clear. It won't light up your backyard, so if you want a light, this isn't it.If you want a unique addition to your garden and a spark of interest in a otherwise dark area at night (which is what happens at night in a garden), this is a great addition.

5-0 out of 5 stars Plant Gazing Globes in Full Sun for Best Results
I have this gazing globe among several non-plant features in my gardens, and can tell you the "secret" to getting the most glow from it:You have to treat it like a plant.Garden and landscape designers know that some plants do best in the sun while others prefer shade. It may seem strange, but the same is true for hardscape features such as arbors, fountains, statuary, and even gazing globes.

Just as exposure to sunlight directly impacts the success of plants in a landscape, the interaction between light and hardscape features determines whether or not the object is pleasing to the viewer. And while most plants purchased from garden centers include information on sunlight and soil preferences, the placement of hard features is typically left to the buyer.(But that's okay - that's what keeps garden designers in business!)

Any type of "glow-in-the-dark" garden art - including this Illuminarie Gazing Globe from Echo Valley - needs to be "planted" in exposure to full sunlight if the evening glow is important to the viewer.

When using lighting as a garden design element, there are two very different forms of lighting:active and passive.Active lighting requires a power source, whether from household current or batteries. Passive lighting, which includes "glow-in-the-dark" items, typically uses some form of coating which "absorbs" light energy -- from sunlight and/or artificial lights.Once the sun goes down or the artificial light is turned off, the coating gives off light - it "glows."

Like any other storage system, the amount (intensity) of the glow is directly determined by the amount of light it has received.(Think bank account: you can only take out what has been put in -- and in this case there is no `interest' added!)

The glow starts "paying-out" even before full darkness, as both the incoming and outgoing exchange of light are both gradual - it's not like turning a switch on or off.Be sure the glow-in-the-dark gazing globe is in constant full sunlight; if it's shadowed by trees, buildings, or other garden features -- the glow-back will be compromised.

Here are a couple "tricks" used by garden designers to get the most out of lighting features:

1) Just before an evening garden viewing (outdoor party, whatever), "load-up" glow-in-the-dark features by turning on as many outdoor lights as possible. You'd be surprised how much of a "charge" those gazing globes receive from a standard 150-watt flood light!

2) Create a simple "cheater light" by placing a nightlight inside the neck of a gazing globe.A nightlight with an automatic on/off light sensor is the best - you don't even have to remember to turn it on in the evening!(Make sure the light sensor is below the neck of the gazing globe and facing the sun.)

1-0 out of 5 stars Disappointing and dim
I bought this globe based on the image that accompanied the Amazon ad. In it was shown a deep glowing ball at dusk casting a blue hue to nearby objects and so I naturally assumed that's what I was getting. Instead I got a globe that looks like a plastic beachball during the day and glows for about 10 minutes at night. And when I say glows I'm really stretching - you'd have to be pretty good at seeing in the blackness of night to even know it was glowing.

Not a fan of having to squint at things that are supposed to "glow in the dark". As a daylight garden object d'art it's barely passable - very disappointed with this item.

*** Additional - the above review must have been written by someone with a vested interest in this product since that's the only item they reviewed - glowingly I might add (arf). Suggesting a glow in the dark item should have a bulb placed in or near it is the single most ridiculous thing I've heard this week. But it sort of proves that this product does NOT glow in the dark and should not be advertised as such. *** ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

Portable charcoal grills are great for taking the picnic on the road, but they can make it difficult to cook for more than two or three people at once. If you're looking for a mobile grill that allows you to sizzle enough burgers for the entire family without them having to eat in shifts, Weber's Smokey Joe Platinum charcoal grill may be just what your cookout needs. This handy grill is the big sibling of Weber's popular Smokey Joe Gold grill and sports an 18-1/2-inch cooking grate--large enough for a moderate feast.

Like the Smokey Joe Gold, the Silver features a lid lock that makes the grill much easier to carry without messy spills and can also be used to support the lid and create a shield against the wind. The grill unit and lid are porcelain-enameled to prevent rust and fading, and the cooking grate is triple-nickel-plated to prevent corrosion and facilitate easier cleaning. 5-0 out of 5 stars Simply the best
I purchased an original Smoky Joe back in 1984. With the exception of replacing the grate, it still looks brand new. My in-laws gave us a gas grill and after trying really hard to like it, we ended up back to charcoal in less than one season. I'm so impressed with the product, I bought a 2nd one to keep out at my hangar and planning on purchasing a Weber Performer for those times when size matters. You can't beat the product for durability and taste.

5-0 out of 5 stars Stop looking for a grill, buy this one.
This is the best tabletop grill you can buy. Having an apartment where space is limited, I wanted a tabletop grill for small parties and the 18.5 inch grill was the perfect size. Also, it packs up neatly to transport on outdoor adventures. This grill will easily handle several burgers or kabobs at a time. It is so easy to use and the included guide makes it even easier with clear instructions and even a cookbook of simple recipes to try on your own. Get this grill.

5-0 out of 5 stars The best Charcoal Grill
I've had a Jumbo Joe (now called Smokey Joe Platinum)for about 10 years. Its seen heavy use and its always been stored outside. It ought to be a basket case by now, but I have yet to replace any part of it, though the grates are rusty. In contrast with the previous review, I find the little Joes too small for two people. This model will easily handle a roaster and sides, plus it fits in my trunk with the lid upside down. I'd buy one again in a minute.

4-0 out of 5 stars Weber Jumbo Joe
The Weber Jumbo Joe is a very good charcoal grill. It is well built, has some nice features and cooks delicious food. I really like the "lid lock and handle" feature. It makes it easy to bring the grill with you to tailgate or to just pack it up to put away after use. My only word of caution is that the grill is relatively large. It's meant for cooking more than just a couple of burgers. So, there is a sizable charcoal commitment every time you use it. So, if you typically feed four or less people, the 14.5 inch regular Smokey Joe Grill (or Tuck and Carry) may be a better choice. If you feed more than four on a regular basis, "Go for the Jumbo". You won't be disappointed! ... Read more

What sets this trimmer apart from the pack is its clever AFS line-feed system. It automatically senses when more line is needed and feeds it in fractional increments without bumping through centrifugal force. The spool is surprisingly easy to replace, too. When you’re done trimming, convert the unit to an edger by rotating the Groom 'N' Edge head 180 degrees in just a few seconds.Unlike other trimmers, this one has an auxiliary handle that adjusts to the user’s height. A sturdy guard protects you from flying debris, a good thing because the motor keeps the string moving at 11,800 rpm. The flip-down edge guide makes edging a snap. 4-0 out of 5 stars Great Value
I recently purchased this grass trimmer from Amazon.com. I wanted a cordless model so I did not have to bother with gas or lugging a plug around the yard. I received it very quickly and was able to pull it out of the box and have it ready for it's first charge in about 10 minutes.

I used it last night for the first time and was very happy with it. I needed it primarily to remove the grass/weed growth (that that our mower can't reach), that was climbing up the fence separating my and my neighbor's yards as well as the weeds that grow around our garage. It worked perfectly. I had some grass/weeds near the fences that was at least 12 inches in height and it blasted right through it. It never got stuck or jammed. I probably cleared about 150 -200 feet of fence that had grass and weeds climbing up.

I did try to use it on a section of dense pulpy weeds near a corner of our yard where the grass meets concrete. The weeds are very low to the ground and have very thick stems. It did not work so great on these but I think it is due to the thickness and density of the weed growth. I wound up just pulling them up out of the ground (this was even hard to do). But, since I bought it for purposes of removing the grass/growth along the fences on my property, it works wonderfully.

The only drawback is it does get heavy after using for a while, but the helper handle is a great plus. Since I don't need to use it for excessive lengths of time, that is something I can live with. I would recommend this trimmer.

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't do it!
I would like to update my last review of this machine...

After less than a full season using this "toy" I now realize how cheap this thing is. I have spent more time "re-threading" the spool after the string wears down to nothing or more often than not, breaks off, than I have trimming. You only end up with about 3" of string during the lightest of trimming. And now the lower bearing in the motor is worn out. I guess I'll strip the battery out of it and trash the rest.
If you need to trim anything but the LIGHTEST of grasses, this machine is not of any value to you.
And, customer support from Black &Decker is nothing more than a bunch of form letters... and they are automatic and have nothing to do with your queries.
I was poised and ready to purchase their cordless mower, but with the experience I have had (or lack of) with their "customer support" and the quality of this product, I have purchased another brand.

4-0 out of 5 stars AFS is a disappointment..
I really like going cordless and gasless with this trimmer, but the "auto feed" system is very poor. Most of the time the user actually only gets about three inches of trimming cord to use. Too bad they don't offer a "bump-feed" system, that would make it a great machine!

3-0 out of 5 stars I'll keep it ...
I like this trimmer. It's a little heavy on the fore arm if you have 10 minutes or more of trimming to do. It does a very good job of taking care of lighter trimming.

I was hoping it would power through 6 to 8 inch high wet grass that accummulates under the 5 spruces I have - no such luck. It seems to have too much build up of grass on the guard, lack power and trim line strength to do that job. I have been using a 10" with the electric cord and heavier trim line and hope I wouldn't need to use it.

However, the cordless trimmer makes it a lot faster to do the trimming and easier to keep up with the 1/2 acre yard work. So maybe the dense grass problem won't occur.

The verdit is out on the auto feed as it seemed to chew up the .065 trim line very easily especially around tree bases. This makes the operator haver to exercise more care. However, the auto feeder seems to work flawlessly.

I haven't used the edger feature, nor would I as I have a lot of edging to do.

For normal trimming the CST1000 powers its way through. It sure beats lugging 100 to 150 feet of cord around.

One more thing. The unit handle was damaged in shipping. Two plastic mounting posts broke off inside the handle. The handle halfs, while not showing damage, would easily separate. The exterior screws that fasten the two halfs could not hold the halfs together. It appears that the problem is in the Black and Decker box as it does not seem to protect the handle from the weight of the battery.

5-0 out of 5 stars A very nice product.
I have been using this trimmer for about six weeks and I'm happy with it. I had an inexpensive electric trimmer, but I wanted freedom from cords. At first I considered buying a gas trimmer until I realized that was ridiculous since I'd be using it to trim a property less than one-quarter acre. I also didn't like the fact that the gas trimmers all had wide cutting paths. That is an advantage only if you are cutting grass rather than just trimming grass around a wall, shrub, flower bed, pole etc. A comparably powered trimmer with a larger cutting path isn't going to trim grass any faster since you're really only using the tip of the line to cut the grass. This trimmer has a smaller cut path so you can trim in and around tight areas, and do so without accidentally cutting something you don't want cut (like flowers). I think the power of this model is very good but according to Consumer Report, some cordless trimmers aren't as powerful as electric models. If you are a power freak you probably will want a gas trimmer.

Black and Decker makes another cordless model (Grass Hog) with a 12" cutting path. Frankly, I think this (9-inch) model is a better choice because it operates at a higher rpm. That means the tip of the line is moving at a higher speed. Taking into account the circumference of a 12" and 9" circle as well as the rpm of both models (6,800 for the 12" and 11,800 for the 9"), I calculated the "tip speed" of this model at 316 mph while the 12" cordless model is only 243mph. Although I haven't used the 12" model I assume this one cuts better for that reason.

It also performs nicely as a light edger. Switching from trimming to edging takes just seconds. It's really a great feature. It's so convenient having an edger at hand that I edge much more than I used to.

One thing I don't like about the trimmer is the auto feed system. I don't like not being able to feed new line whenever I want. New line is fed only when the existing line has been considerably shortened from use. Also, when the line frays and splits (as it often does) you either have to wait until the auto feed kicks in or trim the line with scissors. I carry a small pair with me and occasionally cut the line when it gets frayed. You can probably also use nail clippers.

Cordless trimmers are heavier than electric models and some of the lighter gas models. They are better balanced (than electrics) though and more comfortable to use in that respect. The weight is near your hands as opposed to being at the front. I find it more comfortable to hold this trimmer than some of the lighter electric models I picked up in the stores.

Most of all, what makes this trimmer great is the fact that it's cordless. You just can't beat the convenience.

Shop no further, Amazon's price is excellent. I didn't get it any cheaper and I bought mine at a huge retailer who is known for great prices (you know who they are).

Pros

- cordless!
- well balanced
- smaller cutting path
is advantageous for trimming tight areas
- switches quickly to an edger

Cons

- Auto feed system
- weight ... Read more

This is an excellent grate. This is a must have for a charcoal grill. Terrific.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great for long term cooking
When I am cooking ribs or a chicken which can take a few hours, you definately will have to add fresh charcoal. The beauty of this grate is that you can add more fuel without removing the grate which puts you at risk for losing you food on the floor. Simply lift up one corner of the grate and add prelit coals.

For best results use the Weber Chimney starter to start your coals.

5-0 out of 5 stars No more burned fingers!
What a fantastic idea Weber has with this new grill accessory. Before we purchased this grate in order to add charcoal my husband would take the tongs and have to lift out the entire grate resulting in burned fingers or burn marks on the deck railing where he would lay the hot thing. Now he simply flips up the hinges and adds the charcoal directly to the kettle. Thank you Weber. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Innovative Sprinkler Design by Gilmour
I have used this sprinkler now for two months. It's great. It solves the problem of watering a rectangular area with a sprinkler that waters in an arc.It does this by allowing you to adjust the spray distance throught the entire arc.No other pulse sprinkler does this.Takes a bit of playing with to get the pattern right, but once set it distributes the water right where you want it, without overspraying some areas and underwatering others.Very affordable too!

5-0 out of 5 stars An above ground sprinkler system
The pattern master sprinkler is the closest thing to installing a sprinkler system, without all the labor and costs associated with the usual in-ground system.I am about to buy my third Gilmour pattern master. One was involved in a vehicle fatality, and the other two finally gave into South Texas weather conditions. However, the two surviving sprinklers dedicated three - four years each to keeping my yard green.I have a front yard divided into four individual squares by sidewalks. To complicate matters I live in San Antonio, where water restrictions are a year round issue. This sprinkler allows me to water accurately, eliminating accidental watering of sidewalks and the front porch. The back yard is wide and long. This sprinkler allows me to water the entire yard, and adjust the spray so that I don't water the storage sheds or plants not requiring any water. The only draw back is that with our water pressure, if you place the sprinkler on a flat surface - example driveway or sidewalk - it will travel on you.I just weigh it down with a brick or stone that I have in one of my planting beds. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Gardena flow control nozzle
I've been using these hose nozzles for almost 10 years and I really like them. They work well and have great "feel" but, unfortunately, they're somewhat fragile. Figure on replacing it annually, maybe once every 2 years if you're REALLY careful. One drop onto concrete from waist height and it'll break. Leave the water on 24/7 and the pressure will crack the body. Still, they're light and the plastic body means less potential for paint damage when washing your car. Despite the fragile factor I keep buying these because I haven't found a nozzle I like better.

4-0 out of 5 stars Gardena Products convenient and reliable
I have used Gardena Products for years and love them. They are convenient and reliable. This nozzle is another great example.

But the 4 pound shipping weight on this item is rediculous. Including shipping materials the shipping weight is no more than a half pound.

This is a very well made and durable product. It attaches easily to the major portion of the Ryobi and has a very smooth action. Trimming just became a breeze. This 4-stroke Ryobi engine continues to start easily and with assurance too. Love not having to mix oil and gas with this one.

I just purchased this little beauty to maintain my shrubbery. It would have helped if I had read the instructions before starting. I was having a little trouble keeping the motor running on the power head, and she didn't want to start too easily either. But after consulting the manual I realized I was trying to run it at half choke! OOPS! The only reason I didn't rate this 5 stars is because of the frequent maintanence requiring the removal of an access plate to apply lubricant. Aside from this fault - I was impressed with the ease of operation and the height I could trim to.

5-0 out of 5 stars Finally getting control of those hedges.
This is ANOTHER great add-on for my Ryobi trimmer! I hated using my old cordless trimmer, and the hedges in my driveway showed it! This new trimmer is making short work of that chore. 5-0 out of 5 stars Bounty Hunter Tracker IV - No Experience Necessary
I figured that any metal detector would find the '32 Chevy buried in my backyard, but I wanted to find coins, rings, and Civil War relics in my 5 acre woods. It took 5 minutes to assemble the Tracker IV and about 15 minutes to review the instruction manual. Round up a few coins, a gold ring, and some nails and run through the demonstration on page 5 of the manual. It will give you an idea of how different objects respond to the 3 detection modes.

I borrowed my wife's headphones (highly recommended) and headed for the woods. Within minutes I found beer cans, shotgun shells, nails. The detector will pinpoint an object close enough that you can dig it up with a few scoops of a garden trowel. On my second attempt I found a man's silver ring.

Tracker IV appears to be well constructed and a good value. I don't have any experience with other detectors, but I can't imagine that any are easier to use than this one. Tracker IV is a great choice for your kids to use, if they can get it away from you!

4-0 out of 5 stars Impressed........nice features
I bought one used for [$$$] on .... I started scanning my Girlfriend's yard (house built in 1940's) and immediately picked up all sorts of signals. After a day I became used to the different tones and began discriminating what to and not to dig. That day I found 3 spoons, one of them is silver, and 5 wheat pennies. The next day I searched a sledding hill and found about [$$$] in change. I think its a great deal for the money.

4-0 out of 5 stars It's good, but.......
I collect rare bottle caps, and try to take care not to lose any of my collection. I was coming back from a convention recently and one of my collection boxes hopped out of the back of the pickup as I was crossing an old hump-back bridge, and fell into a small stream.

So I bought the metal detector to try to get my valuable collection back. This one said it is waterproof so I figured it might do the job.

Well, after three weeks of wading up and down the stream I have had mixed fortunes. A Celtic chalice, the silver cumtach (cover) from a medieval bible, two viking swords, a couple of daggers, a mound of celtic, roman and viking coins, an array of viking hacksilver, medieval broches and buckes from shoes and belts, delicately filigreed celtic gold jewellry and most notable of all (since the Romans never made it to Ireland) the metal fittings from eight complete and six incomplete sets of roman imperial legionnary armour.

OK, so I am famous now amongst scholars of the Romano-Celtic world. I have been awarded three honorary doctorate degrees for my finds, and I have been given freedom of the cities of Dublin and York, and I had to decline a Royal knighthood offered by the English Queen (I do have principles and I am an Irish Republican). But what is all this fame? I have lost a box of 200 bottle caps and not found a single one with the detector.

In that collection was a rare 1950's Kirin blue, a 1945 victory V double diamond crown cap and most valuable of all a Grolsch porcelain stopper from the first ever commercial batch. What does it profit a man to gain the world if he loseth his bottle cap collection?

If you buy the metal detector I hope you have more luck than me!

5-0 out of 5 stars Thrilled in Michigan
I bought this product for my 13 year old son's birthday, and he was thrilled. I was thrilled because it was easy to put together, works great over many different terrains, and is so easy to use, the whole family has enjoyed it! It is the perfect Tracker for us.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fun and Easy to Use
The Bounty Hunter was exactly what I was looking for. My 11 year old son and I wanted to expore metal detecting together. I didn't want to invest a large amount of money in something that was too high tech or that he would lose interest in. I didn't want to spend too little and get a cheap product. This item was priced right and so far has proven to be a quality item. It was easy to assemble (maybe 5 minutes), takes 2 standard 9 volt batteries and is lightweight enough for my 11 year old to handle with ease. The shaft adjusts in height so when I finally get my turn, I can adjust it to fit me.

We are having a ball so far with it. We haven't found any high dollar finds yet, but the neighborhood kids have gone with us the last few days and made it a fun treasure hunt. In our search of a couple vacant lots, we have found 17 cents, lots of nails, an old bottle cap, a saw blade and other misc items. We plan on taking this into the mountains soon, as it is waterproof so you can look for gold in the rivers. We can't wait! ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars False Flipper
This Squirrel Proof feeder is a great idea in theory. But they fail to tell you until you open the box and read the instructions that their Yankee Flipper doesn't work with Red Squirrels. I am now the proud owner of an expensive Red Squirrel feeder. Their claim of a Squirrel Proof feeder sounds like false advertising to me.

5-0 out of 5 stars Absolutely works!
I have had my Yankee Flipper for more than 2 years now, and it works perfectly.I am almost disappointed that the Squirrels don't try anymore - except for the occasional rookie who quickly discovers that there is no food to be had here.

A couple of points I wanted to add to the other reviews:

1. Droll Yankees customer support is excellent. Some squirrel(s) managed to scratch or bite a small hole into the clear tube, right below the top of the feeder. One quick phone call, and a new feeder tube was in the mail to me at no cost.Impressive!

2. I initially charged the feeder while it was hanging on my deck, until the squirrels chewed up the cable where it plugs into the wall.Afterwards I bought two sets of NiMH batteries (Better than the NiCD that come with the feeder) and I charge them in a wall charger. This way I always have a fresh set ready, and changing them only takes a couple of minutes (unscrew three thumbscrews on the bottom of the feeder, swap batteries, replace screws).

It is a lot of money for a bird feeder, but well worth it!

5-0 out of 5 stars Yankee Flipper has the answer!
I previously wrote that I had a squirrel that was able to lock up the ring. I contacted customer service and they were so professional and helpful to send me a replacement motor. Well the new one is stronger and faster and no squirrel can stop it! It is almost as awesome as Yankee Droll's customer service! I take back my 4 stars happily. Enjoy the show!

4-0 out of 5 stars perfect !
I revised this review because of the awesome service of Yankee Droll. The new flippers rule!

5-0 out of 5 stars Satisfaction at last
OK, I'm an engineer.I even mounted sheet metal panels along the land and airborne assault routes the squirrels would use to get to the feeder. As a result the house looked like a battleship but the little robber-barons were still on the feeder chowing down the seed.I had to fill it nearly every day.We did not want to move the feeder from our rear window, and the Mrs. was not keen on me escalating to the next level of defensive measures! The Yankee Flipper has done the job, provided us great entertainment, and its large capacity means far fewer reminders to "please fill the bird feeder." ... Amazon.com Review

Most coffee roasters and tea buyers recommend using a coffee or tea press to enjoy the beverages at their best, but the devices have typically offered one major disadvantage--the brewed coffee or tea cooled quickly within the glass carafe. The Bodum Columbia thermal press overcomes this shortcoming with its double-walled stainless-steel construction, which insulates hot coffee or tea to keep it warm for up to two hours. The end result is a rich, flavorful beverage with perfectly extracted flavors and aromas.

To use the Columbia press for coffee, grind fresh beans to a coarse consistency, add 2 tablespoons of coffee for every 6 ounces of water, then add hot water and brew for four to five minutes before plunging the press. Tea brews in the same manner, but with whole tea leaves instead. The press holds up to 48 ounces of liquid--enough for 12 small cups of coffee (4 ounces each)--and features Bodum's patented safety lid to keep the contents from spilling. For best results, users should dedicate the press to brewing one beverage only, as coffee and tea flavors tend to cross over when brewed separately in the same vessel. The Columbia coffee and tea press is dishwasher-safe. --Rivers Janssen ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Haven't Had A REAL CUP OF JOE or TEA Until You Have A Press!
This product, along with my Bodum Assam tea press are the BEST purchases that I have made to date from Amazon. This thermal double-walled stainless-steel coffee & tea press insulates hot coffee or tea to keep it warm for up to two hours. The top part of the stainless steel filter has a closed position to keep the heat in & a strainer position when you need to pour. The end result is something that you can't get from an automatic, vacuum, drip, percolator, or tea bags. You get, instead, a rich, full, smooth, flavorful cup of joe or tea with perfectly extracted flavors and aromas. Since there isn't a paper filter to soak up the rich oils in coffee beans, the oils stay in the coffee where they rightfully belong.

The best practices for this press are the following: For a fine cup o' joe, grind fresh beans to a coarse consistency, add 2 to 2 1/2 tablespoons of coffee for every 6 ounces of water, add boiling hot water and let the grounds brew for about four to six minutes, depending on how strong you like your coffee before hitting the plunger on top to stop the brewing method.

Tea brews in basically the same manner, but add 1 to 1 1/2 tablespoons of loose tea leaves for every 6 ounces of water, add boiling hot water for black & oolong teas and almost boiling (170 degrees) for green, herbal and white teas, let the grounds brew for about four to seven minutes, depending on how strong you like your tea, too much longer and you will get a bitter cup of tea, press the plunger and voila... a lovely spot o' tea!

I highly recommend this product! It is crafted of the best quality, is esthetically pleasing to look at & use and will last a lifetime!

5-0 out of 5 stars I'm hooked!
I bought my Bodum coffee press before Christmas and quickly became "hooked" on the great flavor of the pressed coffee. The pot is very sturdy and cleans up great. I use it every day now.

I would definitely suggest this pot to any coffee lover.

5-0 out of 5 stars nice design, great for guests
I own both the 8- and 12-cup presses, and recommend them highly. They're durable, easy to clean, heat-retentive and easy to use when serving. A few hints: do follow the mfg.'s suggestion and use each vessel either for coffee or tea, so there's no transfer of coffee oils to your other brews. Also, it helps to retain heat if you keep the lid turned so that the spout is closed between servings. I also find that a spritz of vinegar before a thorough washing keeps you quality coffee/tea tasting its best. Having tried all sorts of other steeping devices, I can say that this Bodum is a winner, and worth the money.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic
I have tried several types of brewing methods (drip & vacuum), but this coffee press is my absolute favorite. I am able to make hot and robust coffee. Since you control the brew time, water temperature, coarseness of the grounds, & amount of water, you can make your coffee to suit your tastes.

It took me a few pots to tinker with the variables mentioned above, but it was well worth it. It is a little more trouble than a drip machine, but I got much smoother yet richer coffee with this method.

The pot is sleek and easy to clean. It does a decent job of keeping coffee hot, although a lot of heat seems to escape through the top once you press the coffee grounds down. Also, it makes 12 FOUR ounce cups. Most drip machines are measured in SIX ounce cups, so choose your pot size with care. Occassionally a tiny amount of grounds get through the filter (common with this brew method), but for the most part I have been happy with the filter.

Amazon.com Review

Serious barbecuers need serious tools, and this 18-piece set is about as serious as you can get. All the pieces are constructed of commercial quality stainless steel with wooden handles, and the six large tools feature textured rubber finger-grips. Held neatly contained in a durable plastic 23-by-12-by-3-inch carrying case, the set makes an impressive gift for the avid outdoor chef, and is covered by a five-year warranty against defects.--Ann Bieri ...
