With a powerful 20-horsepower Briggs & Stratton Twin Intek engine under the hood and AutoDrive transmission with cruise control and foot pedal control, this mower’s got it all. Its 18-inch TightTurn steering radius will let you maneuver the 42-inch twin blade cutting deck all over your yard, around trees, along tight curves and zooming down the straightaways. It’s built like a tank, too, with a cast iron front axle and rugged frame. We particularly like this one for its clever step-through frame, making it easier to mount and dismount that most lawn tractors. The seat is comfortable and adjusts easily, too. This Yard-Man is a winner.--Kris Jensen-Van Heste ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars best
i love this lawn mower it has more than needed power and the price was great

4-0 out of 5 stars not my dream tractor...
....but a good, reliable machine. I have five acres of fast-growing Florida lawn and this tractor performs dependably. I think the biggest drawback is that you cannot mow in reverse; any corners, narrow spaces require disengaging and re-engaging the mower deck and leaves some places "unmowable". Power steering would also be nice...but that'll be the tractor I get after I win the lottery. For the money it's a very good machine.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent price for an excellent tractor
I shopped long and hard for the perfect tractor for my 1/2 acre + lot, and nowhere else could I find so much tractor for such a low price and free shipping. What used to take me an hour and a half now takes only half an hour, the 20 horse V-twin motor is flawless (kind of sounds like a muffled Harley Davidson when it starts...very cool) This tractor can mow through the heaviest of grass no problem. My only issue is with the lame headlights...they shine straight up, but I don't mow at night. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars BEST GARDEN CLEAN-UP TOOL I EVER SAW!!!!!
I MADE A DETAILED REVIEW OF WHAT LAWN VACUUMS WERE AVAILABLE. MY PRIMARY NEED WAS TO CLEAN OAK LEAVES OUT OF 7 DIFFERENT FLOWER BEDS. SOME ARE PLANTED WITH IVY AND OTHER GROUND COVER AND ARE REALLY HARD TO CLEAN OUT. I BOUGHT THE HOSE ATTACHMENT FOR THIS VAC AND COULD NOT BELIEVE WHAT A JOB IT DOES. I CAN KNOW DO IN 4 HOURS WITH THIS MACHINE WHAT USED TO TAKE ME 4 DAYS WITH MY ELECTRIC B&D VACUUM. IF YOU HAVE FLOWER BEDS TO CLEAN, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS ITEM. COMPARED TO OTHER VACS I LOOKED AT, THIS IS DEFINITELY FAR SUPERION IN CONSTRUCTION.

4-0 out of 5 stars I am happy
We bought this from Amazon.com. We had very quick delivery and it assembled pretty easy. I think its a great product. The "Vac Suction" is not as great as they make it seem... but overall, I am happy!

1-0 out of 5 stars Rude Factory service and lack of information
I shopped for the machine locally and had a courteous service person call the factory for the information I requested, since they didn't have it in stock.
While I waited, he was connected with three different people; he reported how each was abrupt and rude. Finally the person who was in charge answered with a recording saying he would be unavailable for two weeks and to leave a message. Thelocal salesperson apologized in their behalf repeatedly.
Needless to say, I won't be buying this machine.

4-0 out of 5 stars Yard vacuum works fine as long as you don't need help
Yard vacuum is fine, now. At first it wouldn't start at all. Nearly killed myself trying. Called for factory help and didn't get much except I was given a local service number to take it to. I then found that that company didn't service MTD products anymore. Then got a second number and took (lots of trouble because it is very heavy)it to them. Service guy finally figured that something was missing(not sure because he had never seen one of these). We finally unplugged a safty switch which is supposed to be depressed by a lever mounted on the nozzle. I works fine with safety disconnected. The lever was left off in manufacture. When I called the warranty department of MTD I was told I mhad to take it back to service place. I asked for the lever to be mailed to me since it is so hard for me to get it there, the person (who would not give his name) got very rude when I told him it was a lot of trouble for me and it is brand new, they should try to help. He was rude and hung up on me. So much for factory help, ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Piece Of Equipment And It Was Cheap! :-)
I bought this @ Fred-Meyers in Portland,Or. (No Sales Tax)

They ran an ad for 50% off all clearance items, and I found this little beauty sitting on the display rack for a clearance tagged price of 279.99

Yeah... You get the picture.... 140 bucks!!!!

1-0 out of 5 stars Yard Man Warranty not reliable
The Yard Man wheeled string trimmer is a great product when it works properly. However, 10 minutes after I started the mower and began to cut grass, the belt came off. I put it back on but it would not stay on when the mower was engaged. I took it to a certified repair center and they would not repair it under warranty. I paid $20.00 twice to have the belt put back on the mower. Yard man customer service told me that I needed a part to fix the mower and after giving me the part number, told me to go back to the repair shop and tell them to order the part. They would not order under warranty because they told me Yard Man would not pay. I refused to pay to have it fixed because it is supposed to be under warranty. I have emailed Yard Man but did not get a response. I have other Yard Man products and have been very happy with them. I am unhappy with this purchase, but have been uanble to return the mower or get anyone to fix it for me. I'm disappointed because I like to buy "American made" and I expect a merchant to stand behind their warranty. I have disputed this charge on my VISA because I have not other avenue. I would not recommend buying this product through Amazon.com.

5-0 out of 5 stars Takes no prisoners
I bought this mower because we let the weeds on our one acre property grow too high to mow with a regular mower. This trimmer/mower did the job. The cutting height can be adjusted easily, and everything else about it is accessible, even for a mechanical dummy like me. It not only hacks down the tallest weeds, but if you then back up and run over them again, it will nicely mulch them up, so you don't have to haul off the weed corpses.
The string that comes with this is pretty wimpy and wore out quickly, but Orchard Supply (and probably a lot of other places) sells a tougher string that you can cut to size yourself and save a lot of money.
The oil is supposed to be changed after the first two hours of use. We (I, my husband and our college age son) could not figure out how to drain the oil without getting oil all over the flywheel, etc. So I took it to a lawnmower shop where they PUMPED it out and charged me $... Not too bad, considering that the next oil change is after 50 more hours of use.
I honestly can not find any faults with this machine. It does what it's supposed to do. What more can you ask?

5-0 out of 5 stars WeedWhacker Supreme
Bought this here and am happy with it. Cuts through areas overgrown with weeds quickly and (almost) easily. So far starts up with no problems. It arrives ready to run except straightening out the handle, tightening a couple wing nuts by hand, putting in the supplied oil, and adding gas. Worth spending a few bucks more compared to department store "name brand" ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great machine for moving a lot of snow !!!!
I was reciently in the market for a new snowblower , I had just sold a 10hp mtd snowblower . I wanted something newer and more reliable . Living in eastern Canada we are acoustomed to large snowfalls of 50cm or more , three feet or more . I wanted a big rugged machine . After doing some research and looking at different models I chose the yardman 13hp 33"cut model . The store I purchased it at gave me the machine for $300.00 less by just asking the store manager .
I have used the machine now to clean my driveway about 6 times now , and snow removal is now fast, fun, and efficient . The yardman is a big brute of a machine with lots of power . No comparisan to my old machine . Also this unit has power steering which makes the big snowblower handle great . You also have locking controls on the auger , so you can adjust the shute without stopping . You could handle this unit with one hand .
Also starting is easy with electric start , but even on the coldest days one pull will bring this machine to life !
I think this is a great snowblower and one that will last me for years .

2-0 out of 5 stars Be wary of MTD quality control
We purchased an MTD snowblower(13 HP Tecumseh Snow king engine with a 33" cut)via an Amazon affiliate: The ToolShed in North Dakota. This particular model was manufactured in Canada and shipped to us last year.Unfortunately in SE Idaho we were experiencing a drought and did not have a chance to test it. This year has been dramatically different. As I write this review,a blizzard is howling outside with gale force winds. My wife and myself spent $1500 dollars on machine with piss poor quality control. The headlight shorts out causing sparking between the shift handle and the notched stop.Remedy:disconnect it for the time being. The right hand axle coming off the differential was never drilled to accept a shear bolt, consequently the right hand auger never functioned. Remedy: Spend one and one half hours and three carbide bits later drilling through a hardened steel axle. Fortunately MTD supplied extra shear bolts with this model. The lever that adjusts the angle of the discharged snow at the chute does not work. A retaining bolt that connects this lever with a plastic cam is missing.Moving the lever up and down causes the tip of the discharge to do the same.Remedy: jury rig it for the time being. No where in the operators or the engine manual are there any instructions on identifying the oil drain plug and how much oil to add.We had to go the Ariens web site to access this piece of info.Once this machine is up and running, it is an absolute beast. With both augers functioning it will hurl wet snow 20-30 feet in the air without bogging down. With the Snow Hog tires and independant traction control this 250# machine is easy to wheel around. It steers like a bulldozer. The adage "you get what you pay for" certainly holds true. Other snow blowers with this size engine:Toro, Simplicity,Ariens and Honda will cost in excess of $2000.In hindsight, it might have been worth the extra $500.

3-0 out of 5 stars no brakes
I just baught this product. I have a very long sloping driveway. When I tried the snow thrower my first problem was to stop the thing from rolling down my drive way. Given that the snow thrower is about 400lbs some kind of braking machanism would really help. I guess most of the kind do not have brakes. So be careful, if you have to deal with slopes buy a lighter one. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great snow blower
This snow blower is a great investment,if you want a snowblower. It was shipped fast the, handle and shifting rod was the only thing to assemble. It was simple to raise put 4 wing bolts on and connect shifting rod. I gased it up and read how to start and it started and ran perfectly. The first snow of the season was about 8 inches deep where I live.Took me about 20 minutes to do my drive way,I have about 60 foot driveway,I did my moms about the same time she has about same driveway length as me.I also had to cut thru the plowed up snow from the townships snow plow,NO problem, went thru it like a hot knife thru butter! It handled 8 inches deep snow with no problem what so ever. This was a better price then I could find anywhere. I am VERY pleased with this Snow King. Heres a tip if you have a leaf blower,it makes it easy to clean up and put back where you store it. Took me 15 minutes with a leaf blower to blow out all snow and ice, from the snow blower, blew it dry in about 10 minutes. No mess or dripping water from the snowblower. My neighbor has a 5 1/2horsepower, he had problems clearing 8 inches,This 8 1/2 horsepower blower has plenty of power, throws the snow farther, and doesnt hesitate in 8 inches.I think it could handles alot more! My neighbor is taking his 5 1/2 hpback and is going to get a 8 1/2 hp. More snow expected this weekend. I CANT WAIT!

4-0 out of 5 stars Powerfull but not holding together
Ive had this one for two years now. The good parts first: its powerfull, throws even heavy snow a long long way, lots of traction in the tires. The power steering is a VERY nice feature, as is the electric start. Decent gauge steel in the chassis. Auger drive is beefy (a real problem with low end achines). Plenty of torque, runs smoothly, starts well. If you run over chains and rocks and logs, the shear pins function perfectly saving damage to the rest of the unit (Ive seen other snowblowers ruined when the shear pins didnt shear). The price is even very reasonable. But...

The problems started just a few days off the sales lot. First the chute screws dropped out. Not bad - just a few new bolts from the hardware store. Later the power steering trigger screws fell out - those were special order parts. Over the next few months all the accessory screws fell out. Going into the third season anything that hasnt come loose by now is safely rusted. In fairness to Yard Man, all these were probably screwed in by some flunky at the store where I bought it. Still, each one leaves you stuck in the middle of a snowstorm with hours or days to get the proper replacement part. For some things thats not a problem; snowblowers, at least up here, have to be more reliable. Yard Man should be using less flimsy screws and more positive-locking hardware, and preferably rust-free. Its worth noting that NONE of the major components or bolts have rusted - only the teeny little screws you wouldnt look twice at.

Other annoyances: the headlamp is nice, but doesnt shine anywhere near where youre working. It just lights up the snow shooting out of the chute and casts a huge shadow of the snowblower 30 feet out in front of you. Its almost easier to see with it disconnected. The shift coupling has an annoying tendency to slide off while youre working. Shift to reverse, then forward, and the coupling drops off leaving you in some random gear. Sure it pops right back on, but for me it always happened in the worst place possible. In the second season the power chute control started working intermittently. This year it didnt work at all. Opening it up, the electric motor seal was never installed right at the factory, so water got in and rusted the motor out. If I had a choice next time Id get the hand crank.

Still, this has seen quite a few nor'easters. Every snowstorm is 3 passes over 200 feet of our driveway, 2 neighbors driveways, then the street where the plows dont bother, then finally a quarter acre skating pond. A good storm can be 6 hours straight of 18" snow, and this model took it easily. I was going to give it three stars for the defective motor seal, but had to give it more credit for the extreme abuse Ive handed it for the last two years, and the quality of its major components.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Snow Thrower for the Suburbs
I've got one of these and in a word, it's "Awesome!". We had one of the biggest storms of the last 20 years here in the Philly suburbs and it saved the neighborhood. It threw the snow over 15 feet from the machine when needed, and ate not only the original snow, but really came in handy when it had to clear out over 15 neighbors driveways AFTER the snow plow came thru and blocked them up again. I ran it for over 2 hours out of every 8 hours throughout the 3 day storm. It never quit.Be advised, it's so powerfull, the daily paper that is buried below the snow, and unseen, zooms through it at the speed of light. ( If you like your paper delivered in pieces). The light really came in handy after 5:00 PM when I'd be out keeping up with the snowfall after dark.Highly Recommended. And the Electric Start is BEAUTIFUL. It seems powerfull enough to propel the USS New Jersey Battleship across the Pacific. Electric Start... the only way to go.A Full tank of gas ( about 1.5 gallons is my guess) lasts for about 2 hours out in the cold. The engineers really did a great job designing and building this one... and I'm originally from North Dakota, so I know snow. ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

After a snowy night, clear sidewalks and driveways of slippery powder with this efficient, two-stage snow thrower from YardMachines. An 8HP four-cycle Tecumseh engine powers the thrower as it effectively blows a 26-inch wide path through snowfall up to 21 inches deep. Equipped with six forward speeds and two reverse, this thrower also has an electric starter. Its mechanical, governing, compression release function ensures constant power and easy starts on cold mornings. A clutch lock allows users to operate the thrower with one hand, leaving the other free to adjust a 5-inch polymer chute. The chute’s construction prevents clogging, rusting, and freezing, rotating up to 180 degrees to send snow away from walkways. A 12-inch impeller and a serrated auger design help eradicate hard sheets of ice or snow pack. Sturdy, 15-inch SnoHog tires provide traction in slick winter conditions.

The machine handle bar folds to save space in storage sheds and garages. For added convenience, the machine arrives fully assembled with oil in the engine. Gasoline must be purchased separately. In the event of a malfunction, YardMachines offers thorough troubleshooting on their website. In addition to online support, the tool is covered by a two-year limited warranty. The thrower measures 215 by 28.57 by 31.13 inches, and weighs 215 pounds upon shipping. --Jessica Reuling ... Read more

Tackle the longest driveway or brave the toughest blizzard with this rugged powerhouse.
