a bit of heaven.
We have 3 woodstock chimes outside our bedroom window. Our neighbors keep thier bedroom window open just to hear the chimes.The peaceful harmnious sounds, are truly what heaven must sound like.

Pleasent sound
I got the whole set of Woodstock Percussion Gregorian windchimes from the Soprano, to the Baritone.

Besides, it's weather resist, I own the original Olympic sound for over 6 years and still good as new. Definitely worth the money and long term enjoyment.

I recently received the Woodstock Percussion GAS Gregorian Alto Wind Chime. As the owner of several windchimes I must say this is my favorite. The sound is absolutely mesmorizing. The harmonic peaceful tones sound in the slightest breeze. I am ordering other chimes that harmonize with the Alto. If I only had one chime - this would be the one!

Deepest Sound
This chime was a gift for my wife last Spring. We loved it so much I've made all the different tones of Gregorian presents for special occasions. Now we have them all, so I'm starting at the top again to put more on the other side of the house. These need just a little wind to make a nice sound. The Baritone is amazing and worth getting first. The wind catcher is balanced nicely butit will take a bit more wind than for the smaller models. Consider putting it higher where more breezes will make it chime. Put it outside, near a window to enjoy the sounds indoors. A great and gentle addtiion to any outdoor setting.

Woodstock chimes
Woodstock has the best sounding wind chimes I have owned. They can be tolerated by most anyone - even those who dislike the tinkling of most other chimes! Everyone who comes over comments on the beautiful sound of the chimes. Since they are properly pitched, musicians can even enjoy these! The baritone is my favorite, with its rich, warm lower tones.

Perfectly tuned
When I received the chimes they were smaller than I thought they would be, probably my mistake for not reading the dimensions carefully. They are of excellent quality. Although, I do not have any musical background, I felt they were perfectly tuned within a certain range. High pitch. (but not the aggravating high pitch, very appealing) If you are looking for deep baritones, try looking at the Woodstock Percussion BWS Bali - (Silver) available on Amazon for [$$]. I find having a range of sizes and tones gives a very nice blended sound.

Beautiful sound... when you can hear them.

I bought these chimes because of the beautiful tone they produce.However, it takes a very strong wind to make the chimes sound.It appears that the wooden center piece is set too far away from the tubes (i.e. it's too small) and the sail is a little small.

I've seen other Woodstock chimes at Lowes recently, and those had different wooden parts that created a sound with a smaller wind.

Best chimes I've ever owned!
My wife and I purchased the Tenor Chime this spring. We now realize you get what you pay for. These chimes have the best sound we've ever heard. It doesn't take much of a breeze for them to play.

seems to be a supply problem
Problems with shipping and getting merchandise. I've had two orders in for windchimes, one since mid May other mid June. Still hasn't been delivered. AMZN. sends these non-helpful responses to my complaints. First time i've had this problem with AMZN. So dont purchase from here if you need a windchime before the summer is over.

These are great windchimes.They have a beautiful and pleasing tone.They catch the wind just right, so they are not constantly ringing, but chime just enough to be enjoyable.

These chimes are wonderful!! I bought this windchime thinking it would probably be like others I have purchased in the past. Little did I know that this beautiful windchime would bring such joy when I hear it play. There is a lot to understand about Feng Shui...a practice which Asians have used for many generations and which is based on solid yet unseen principles of arrangement which are affected by unseen energies. Nice idea, but it is tiny. The 2 1/2 inches in the description refers to the diameter of the largest bell, which I should have figured out before I ordered it.

Lovely!
I have been looking for a chime that didn't have a "cheesy" appearance or one that had a comforting sound. This one is it! It is attractive and I enjoy the sound of the bells immensely! When I first showed my husband he rolled his eyes - but as he looked at them, he commented on how nice they looked too. I hung them on our deck so when we eat al-fresco, we can enjoy them!
My goal this summer was to provide a dreamy family haven - and this was a wonderful addition to my decor. I think that they are very classy!

Like the rater below - I have two sets of these, and they are in my meditation room. I love them. Worth the money. They aren't too big, and they hang easily. If you have an asian style decor - they will fit right in.

We have several thousand Hare Krshnas as our permanent guests at the moment, most of whom brought similar bells with them. Myself and my colleagues were not even slightly perturbed by their presence here in the 7th chamber of Hell, and merrily went about our daily tasks of administering torture pain and suffering. Resonating tone
I love the sound of these chimes. The tone resonates for what seems like 30 to 40 seconds. The area I live in does not have a lot of wind this time of year. Usually around 8pm and 7am a breeze kicks up for about an hour to two hours and starts the chime in motion. However a good strike is needed to resonate the chimes. I have three other chimes and they are sounding off alot more than the Orpheus chimes. But it is definitely worth the wait of a brisk wind to hear this chime sing. The Woodstock chimes produce a higher quality tone than the other chimes I have. I definitely recommend the Orpheus if you live in an area that has 8-12mph winds. They are beautiful sounding and worth the money.

Quality and a Great Price
This is a very well built chime that sounds great. You really can't beat the price. I saw it for sale up in Cloudcroft NM .... Luckly I checked Amazon first. I have it at my cabin in the Sacramento Mnts. I liked it so much, I bought two more before they run out. ..one for a gift and one for my home in Mesilla.

Soothing Sounds
I first discovered this melodious windchime when my wealthy neighbors carefully set it up on their expansive back deck. As with most of their display items, this one is of the highest quality and in all sincerity is one of the sweetest sounding wind chimes my soft ears have had the pleasure of hearing. Unfortunately, it can become rather irritating on long lonely windy nights and several weeks ago something happened to it (I don't know what). Luckily, the neighbors are heavy sleepers and have yet to replace the chime. My recommendation: Don't buy a wind chime unless you have no nearby neighbors. Great sound... but......
it rarely chimes... that is, unless there is a gale force wind. The sound is beautiful, and has wonderful rich tones that resonates long after the chime has been struck. My only complaint is the frequency of the "chiming". Light, even moderate winds barely get the clapper into motion, and unless its a very windy day, or before a storm (which you dont want to be outside anyhow) it rarely makes it voice heard.

WoodStock Tibetian Prayer Wind Chimes...
I bought this chime set and have enjoyed it greatly! As a result of my enjoyment, I've also given several WoodStock chime sets to friends and family to share the joy. The reason I rate 4/5 instead of 5/5 is because this particular chime set requires a heavier breeze than the others to get it to chime but I have no regrets and recommend it highly.

The Japanese Composer
Just a comment on Jeff's customer review. In my editorial review of the Windchime, I identified the windchime as "inspired by the work of famous Japanese composer Toru Takemitsu" because it is. It's not that the sounds reminded *me* of Takemitsu (it sounded like, well, a WINDCHIME to me!), but that the notes were specifically chosen by Woodstock Percussion to honor Takemitsu's work.

I do indeed write floridly (since I write many of the Outdoor Living reviews "florid" seems appropriate, if you'll excuse my pun), but in the case Takemitsu I was simply stating the facts, ma'am. Er, sir. ;)

Deeper tones than the usual chime.
I bought this chime for my sister's new house. She loves it. I'm not trying to make a value judgment here, just tell you what you're getting.

The average wind chime has much smaller diameter and shorter tubes, with a high-pitched tone. Because most chimes are also lighter, the chimes more easily touch each other, and so chime more often than this one does.

The Tibetan chimes have a deeper tone, which is very soft as well. I couldn't hear them as well as most chimes, through the wall of the house. It is clanged by a wooden clapper about halfway up the length of the chimes, driven by a small wooden triangle below the chimes, attached to the same string. I have noticed that because of its design, it does not chime nearly as much, especially in light winds. The wooden triangle seems to spin around as much as it pulls the clanger into the chimes. All the materials are very good, and I expect it will last for years.

I've got to say, the florid verbage in Amazon's and the manufacturer's reviews seem a bit much. Perhaps some people think of Japan's great wind-chime master when they hear a chime, but I just think they sound relaxing, which is reason enough to have one. I don't intend to worship at it anytime soon, however.

Packaging Problems
The gong is great now that I repaired it. The box it was shipped in was open, there was no packing paper to protect it. The leather strings used to hang it were very flimsy, and one of them was broken. I had to replace those, but once I got it hung, it looks great. I would only suggest that the company pack the merchandise a little better.

Who Knew?
Who knew there was room in my life for a $60 gong? Certainly not me. Like the last reviewer, I found this gong recommended to me by Amazon, and my mind raced with flights of fancy, dreaming of the myriad uses I would have for it. Perhaps it could be used for those times when I might find myself in the middle of an argument with my significant other. *GONG* ...whoah, time out honey! Or I could reenact episodes of The Gong Show. Or sneak up on the dogs whilst they're asleep and...well you get the picture. This gong will surely provice someone with minutes, um, I mean, hours of fun.

I decided to review this item when, for no reason I can discern, it was recommended to me by Amazon. I am not currently in the market for a gong, Chinese or otherwise, however I can assure everyone reading this, that when, on some special day in my future, an inner voice importunes me to furbish a particularly meditative sector of my home with a large reverberating metal platter, that this specific one will be amongst those given special consideration for purchase.
