5-0 out of 5 stars Satisfied Lawn Boy/Amazon Customer
I own the Lawn-Boy model# 10363. The difference being my mower is self propelled. The mower was shipped UPS to my door step in perfect condition. I unfolded the handle, and added the included oil, and I was ready to cut some grass.

Someone mentioned in their review they bought this mower because it's a 2 stroke motor? It's powered by a 4 stroke Tecumseh engine. I have owned the mower 2 years. I never changed the oil, serviced the spark plug, or even cleaned /replaced the air filter, and it starts on the first pull, and runs like clockwork. The only servicing I have performed is sharpening of the blade. During season I mow my dense Floratam lawn on every third day, and once a week in the winter. My mower doesnt get a break. It is in service 12 months a year. I have had zero issues with my Lawn-Boy mower.

1-0 out of 5 stars more troubles...
Not long after my previous rant, I had the displeasure of having one of the wheels on my mower all but disintegrate, literally. The plastic center of the wheel broke entirely away from the bolt. This wasn't brought on by a loose bolt, excessive force, or any other bizarre act of god. Rather, it was through normal wear and tear (keep in mind I only used the mower 6 times before this happened). Upon calling Lawn Boy/Toro, I was basically told in so many words that they wouldn't send me a replacement wheel, and that it was my loss. Needless to say, I went to Wal Mart and purchased a steel wheel for $5.97, which was consequently of a better quality than the wheel that actually came with the mower in the first place! Also, while on the topic of wheels, for those of you who know a thing about mower wheels, the small hole in the middle of the tread of a mower wheel is for adding lubrication to the moving parts via means of a small oil can. Well, after taking the wheel off the mower, I quickly noticed that the standard rim on a lawn boy wheel is a 1/4" inch solid piece of plastic that is entirely separate from the actual tread. Thus, it is IMPOSSIBLE to actually put oil on the moving parts. Rather, the oil just lays inside the tread. This mower is junk, the customer service is poor, and I'll never purchase another Lawn Boy in my life, period, or any other product of the Toro family. Finally, to add to the other individuals who wrote responses, this mower is HEAVY. Between the 14 gauge deck, and the 6.5 hp engine, it's is virtually impossible to use on a steep bank without cutting off a foot. Oh, and one other thing. This mower really doesn't leave your lawn looking spectacular. It really only gives you an average cut. In fact, the only product I despise more than a Lawn Boy is a Craftsman. However, my neighbor gets a much better cut from his Craftsman than I do from my Lawn Boy. barlett@usachoice.net

1-0 out of 5 stars Do not buy!
First of all, this is a very poor machine.

I have a lot of steep hills on my property and was forced to purchase this item for the two-cycle engine.

Toro/Lawn-Boy brags about the 14 gauge deck: all this means is it is a cheap deck that will not hold up over time. Please note that they use a plastic housing underneath the deck... This is a cheap, poorly designed product!

Lawn-Boy/Toro brags about the staggard/off-set wheel design: all this means is that you will not be able to cut close to any thing, that it will dig into your lawn and the spinning blade will be damaged. (Keep in mind that they use a plastic housing in this area and they do not offer parts for this, I had to purchase a used deck when the blade destroyed the plastic housing.)

Toro/Lawn-Boy brags about repeat customer loyalty: I will not be a repeat buyer.

This machine does not mow, mulch, or do much of anything else for that matter. After replacing the cheap blades made by Toro/Lawn-Boy three times in one season, I had a custom blade made for it.

I also contacted Toro/Lawn-Boy to find out if they made a standard deck that would fit the engine. It took two calls, three letters to Toro, and a complaint letter to the BBB, before they would answer my question... based on this, customer service is very poor. All I needed was a yes or no, after all that I found out that No they do not make a standard deck which would work with the engine... Again Customer Service/Support is very poor.

Do not buy this machine! Do not buy this machine! Do not buy this machine!

2-0 out of 5 stars I'd go a different route if I had to do it over
I wanted a simple lawn boy mower, with none of the bells and whistles (i.e. self propelled, electric start, etc.) that inevitably end up breaking. As well, Lawn Boy has always been known for its quality....which this product lacks. First, I was completely amazed that this model has NO throttle control cable at all. Who designs a mower with no throttle control???!!!! (some whiz kid who never actually mowed a lawn). Second, although the staggered wheel design works in theory, it creates many problems when applied in the real world (i.e. the mower constantly get's hung up in minor depressessions, because there is no wheel in the front right corner, which causes the mower to bottom out). "Easy to start"....what a joke. The injector system on these things doesn't even come close to injecting fuel into the carburator. Rather, its just a worthless button (I still have to pull the cord 3 times before it will start). Finally, I purchased the bagging system that is just as much a pain as the rest of the mower. The diagram for installing the thing is confusing and worthless. The real problem occurs when the bag fills up. once full, the chute that feeds the grass from the deck to the bag clogs, forcing the user to shove their arm down the chute to remove the grass. Oh, and back to the throttle control. Sure, the mower mulches wonderfully when the grass is only 3.5 inches high and completely dry. Otherwise, the mower constantly gets bogged down, yearning for more power, which one can't provide. When you finally do buy the mower, the bagger, and a throttle control cable, you would have been better off purchasing an entirely differnt mower (I would recommend the Cub Cadet with the caster wheels). This is not the same Lawn Boy mower from 20 years ago. The quality and design are both poor, and consequently would not recommend that anyone purchase this product, or any other Lawn Boy product for that matter. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A Really Practical High-Tech Toy... I mean Tool!
I asked for this Imow as a Father's Day gift.Wife was skeptical at first but she went along. It took some time to install the wire boundary for the whole yard but the mower worked quite well.Wife is impressed enough to consider getting one for her dad - maybe next year Father's Day.

The whole box weighs around 100 lbs so be really sure that you want and can use it as shipping to you is free but returning freight won't be.

Before you buy, go get a copy of the user manual from the manufacturer .. and verify that your yard terrain is within specs. Then do some paper layouts of the mowing plots. The thing uses a zigzag pattern to cover the area. You want to avoid bottlenecks/strait-like areas to allow it to traverse the plot.I found it more efficient to break a large block into smaller plots as the zigzags overlap with shorter distance between boundaries. My yard totals about 10000 sq ft with 4 plots. The smallest takes about 40 min., the largest 100 mins. With those work durations, it fully recharges overnight.

It is kind of fun to watch as it follows the boundary wire during the edge mode (very precise turning). The mowing is a triangular zigzag. Not entirely random though, I noticed it seems to track obstacles that it bumps into and maneuvers to avoid that area later on (my firmware is rev 3.2...)In any case, the pattern looks inefficient compared to the path a person would do.Just let the thing work and with enough time the grass becomes even.A couple trial runs and you can determine the correct time for each plot.

On dry days with long enough grass, I let it loose on a plot as I return from work.It is very quiet and can hang out thru dusk and night time w/o risk of West Nile, Eastern Equine Encephalitis and other nice effects of mosquito bites. And holy cow, I get to do other things on the weekend!

Finally, automation gets to the yard!I guess my son will have to do part-time web authoring for spending money in the future...

4-0 out of 5 stars IMOW is our new pal!
Well, first off, my wife thought this was crazy. Sometime in the shopping process I did too. I mean, is it *that* hard to mow your own freakin' grass?

I grew up in Florida, where lawnmowing is an ugly chore, in 100% humidity, with sticky, hot grass all over your shoes, legs, etc.
Bad lawnmowing memories.
Now that I needed to buy a lawnmower of my own, I had always wanted to pick up one of those Freindly Robotics robomowers... When I saw Toro private-lable these things, give them a bigger battery, and then the prices kept falling, and then they had the refurbs even cheaper... I thought, heck, why not do it?

Report that I'm pretty pleased. I started the thing in the dusk, so I wouldn't be embarrassed by neighbors seeing this thing eat my flowerbeds, or small children if things went terribly wrong. Ended up with my wife and I with big silly grins as IMOW just ate our grass while we watched it (or tried not to watch it and look cool while the neighbors gawked and found excuses to come over and watch it - we're meeting a lot more neighbors now) The kids like IMOW ("Daddy, IMOW likes to mow ALL BY HIMSELF!") and so do I.
The down side is that there aren't quite enough pegs, especially if you have lots of obstacles that need the guide wire navigated around. The refurb didn't ship with a video or charger, I am assuming Toro will make good on parts if you didn't get everything in the 'open box specials' though.
If you have a relatively flat, square lawn free of lawn gnomes and junk, you are a prime hassle-free IMOW candidate.
Hey, go for it. It's a cool little mower. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Mower
I did not order this mower from Amazon, bought it locally, but I wanted to review it for others that might be interested. I was most worried about the personal pace system, and it performs BETTER than even I could have hoped. The more pressure on the handle, the faster the mower goes. My old self propelled mower went very slowly...the personal pace system goes as fast as you want it to go. Very nimble. Cut very well. Started on the first pull. I'm glad I chose this over single or 3 speed Honda models I was comparing it to. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Electric Start Disappointment
I purchased this lawnmower at Home Deport because of the electric starter. Physical problems make this a necessity for me. After a few starts, the fuse blew. Home Depot does not stock the fuses. The auto parts stores do not stock because it is a lawn mower fuse. Toro website says purchase parts only from authorized dealers. The authorized dealers do not stock these fuses, but they will order them - shipping for a $1.00 fuse is $8.00. The mower itself is wonderful, but I have literally thrown away the extra money for the electric starter, and I will never purchase a Toro product again. ... Read more
