The Tool Box Grill tools and tray combo renders your Tool Box Grill even more self-contained. Designed to nestle inside the gas or charcoal version of the grill, the set simplifies both cooking and transport. Crafted from steel for durability, the sturdy, shallow box offers ample room for the included tongs, spatula, meat fork, and knife. There’s also space for other tools, like your favorite basting brush or grill brush. The tray comes finished in matte gray paint, and the handles on the tools look like squared-off, bright red screwdriver grips, in keeping with the tool box theme. The utensils may not be the most heavy-duty pieces, but the tray is quite sturdy, and the set earns its keep with its convenience. --Emily Bedard ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A Great BBQ and Conversational Tool!
I saw this item on-line, took a lot of time deciding between the normal size or jumbo. In my opinion the jumbo was for me, I can cook 8 burgers at once instead of 4.

The grill is solid, like an old metal toolbox, does not get to hot on the side and cooks well. There is not much more I can say about it other than it does the job and looks good too!

Wait! The Toolbox BBQ Tools in the jumbo are a little small and will slide around a bit. But they add to the entire concept, and while I have had better BBQ tools they work well, and complete the conversational piece.

I would buy it again, recommend it! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars There is no reason not to bar-be-que
My husband received one of these gas grills for his birthday. To this day, we are surprised how much we use it. In the Spring and Summer months, most of our food is prepared outdoors, and it has been so nice to have a portable grill that we can take just about anywhere (the beach, tailgaiting and even camping). Most of all we use it in our backyard!!! My husband thinks nothing of starting up the grill now. What a wonderful and novel gift to give. It has proved to be durable and efficient. I'll be giving a few of these out around Christmastime.

In response to some of our customers wanting more heat when grilling on the gas Tool box grill, Hans Plads, the manufacturer of the grill, is offering a new heat diffuser plate. This new unit replaces the one on our older units and allows significantly more heat at the cooking surface. The new diffuser plate is standard on our 2004 gas grills.

3-0 out of 5 stars Review by Motor Home User
When the unit arrived, the first problem was that the box it is shipped in doesn't hold up to UPS handling, and parts of it were badly bent. We were able to bend them back most of the way they were originally and started to cook. Better packaging is needed by either Amazon or the manufacturer to protect the unit during shipment.
The best way to look at this unit is that its cooking method is different than one that uses lava rock or real charcoal. It does cook well if an aluminum cover is put over the items being cooked. If cooking two hamburger patties, you will waste the heat of 75% of the grilling surface. We are still in the trial mode with the unit, but one must understand that it is just different.

2-0 out of 5 stars Poor design, poor heat.
I found that only one side of the grill gets hot enough to cook on, and even that side produces sad, grey burgers and grills corn in three or four times the time it would take on a charcoal (or full-size gas) grill.
The grill is constructed so that it is impossible to cook with the lid down, which further limits its usefulness.

If you want a moderately convenient way to heat up hot dogs, this might suit your purpose. I don't think it's good for much else. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great for backyard fun and portable for picnics
I bought this (and the tools that go with it) as a birthday present for my husband. He loves it. It's just the right size for grilling for two or three people and the results are delicious.

The grill cook evidently finds this box much easier to keep clean than other small units we've tried. After a dozen outings or more, this thing still looks great. It is also easier, because of its uncomplicated shape, to stow away when not in use. And yet it is sturdy, especially by comparison to other grills of this capacity. In other words, it's heavy, but not bulky. The heft is simply quality material beautifully fabricated. The design concept is so simple that it is hard not to wonder why this style has not been the standard for small grills.

Perhaps the best endorsement of this little wonder is that we may well pop for the larger version, as well, just because we are spoiled by the convenience and ease of working with this model and would rather use something like it for larger groups instead of the bulky, tinny, harder to clean grill we are used to having to wheel out.

This is a great little grill. I recommend it without reservation. ... Read more
