Grills may get a lot of outdoor cooking attention, but nothingdelivers a moist, flavorful meat like a smoker. The Char-Broil 4754512electric water smoker can smoke up to 50 pounds of meat or fish at atime, and since you use it outside, you can smoke year round. With a6-quart water pan in the belly and an electric heating coil in thepower base, this smoker heats up quickly but doesn't dry foods out. Thesteam it generates penetrates meats while they're cooking, for bigflavors and tender textures. Fixed rack settings in the smoker's mainchamber support two 15-inch chrome grates with ample room for a turkeyor multiple roasts. The smoker stands on three stout legs cantedoutward for extra stability. In addition, Char-Broil designed this unitto convert to a tabletop grill. Convertability isn't just gadgetry inthis smoker, either. In its grill configuration, the components fitsnugly and securely for efficient cooking and power use. The smokertakes under a half an hour to assemble. --Emily Bedard ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Good smoker for the price...
Just what the title says. It's a good smoker for the price. You WILL get smoked foods if used properly, and it is easy to use. The two complaints that I do have is that when your bottom rack is full, it's difficult to add water to the pan. Adding charcoal is easy, but because of the placement of the inside bottom rack, it's very difficult to add water. The second complaint is that the lid doesn't fit. I think it's more of a quality control issue than a bad product, but gaps can let heat escape and cause for irregular cooking temps.

If you're new to the art of "cue" and don't want to invest a bunch, it's a good buy. If you have experience, you may want something else.

1-0 out of 5 stars Won't get hot enough.
We have not been able to get food cooked above 120 deg. F. We live in the desert above Palm Springs and tried for 5 hours to cook a 1/4 chicken and were unable to get a satisfactory temp. The supplied temperature guage never gets to ideal and the meat never gets to a safe temp. using an instant read thermomerter,( we tried 3 differant ones). Very dissapointing. Don't buy this smoker!

4-0 out of 5 stars Great for the price
I have used this smoker about 10 times now and really have no complaints. The only thing I had to add to complete this product was my own thermometer (~$3-5) so I could get actual degree readings, but I would have likely gotten one even if the included lid thermometer did show degrees b/c I like to measure temperature at grill level.

Overall quite the smoker, especially if you are only looking to doing occasional smoking or are just starting out.

1-0 out of 5 stars I agree - Don't buy it!
About half way through assembling this smoker, I realized the legs were missing from the package. I called customer service, and they told me the legs were on back orde, and that I would most likely recieve them in 10-14 working days. Furthermore, the lid does not fit snuggly. There is about a 1/4 inch gap. I read the positive reviews on which convinced me to purchase this particular smoker. I wish I hadn't.

1-0 out of 5 stars don't buy
We are on our second Charbroil Electric Smoker! The thermostat cords have melted down on both smokers we have purchased. We will not buy one more Charbroil Smoker! ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Good product for the money
For the price, you can't beat it. I've had mine for about 3 weeks now and have done pork butts, brisket, and ribs, all of which have come out awesome. Follow Chris Cox's advice for the modifications or it wont cook good at all. The WSM(Weber Smokey Mountain) is a much better smoker but if cost is an issue, the Char-Broil is the best choice. Don't rely on the temp gauge supplied, go buy a digital instant read thermometer to monitor grill temp. They sell remote monitoring thermometers with dual probes, 1 for smoker temp and the other for internal meat temp. You place both probes in the appropiate place when starting then use the remote to view real-time temps. You can program it for certain temps so it'll beep when the food is done or the smoker temp drops too low. It's made by Redi-Chek, Remote Smoker Thermometer but other companies make them. Can't wait to fire it up again this weekend. Happy BBQing.

4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent smoker for the money
I've used this smoker for over 8 months now and love it. I've used other more expensive smokers before and cannot tell much of a difference in quality of end result foods. This smoker does in fact have a few flaws that are suggested in previous reviews, however there is nothing keeping you in the way of assembling and making a wonderful unit. I add a few coals every 45 minutes to an hour just to keep the fire going strong. You won't be dissapointed. This smoker cleans up very easily too as long as you use tin foil to cover the coal pan (bottom pan).

2-0 out of 5 stars Poor construction
We purchased this item and saw great uses. However, just getting it out of the box indicated a problem. The base unit was out of round and I struggled to get the top packaged in it out. The top was perfectly round and the base could never be "squeezed" just right to allow a proper fit. There was always a gap of at least 3/8" on one side. I took it back to the store and because of my time putting it together, they offered me an upgrade for the same price. Same problem on two more so I said forget it got a refund. Poor workmanship and quality control.

3-0 out of 5 stars Good value, but seriously...
This smoker is the bargin member of the smoker family. For the money it's a good starter unit. Don't buy it if you plan on getting serious about cooking with smoke. We found it effective, but labor intensive to maintain a temperature for longer smokes. It produced great smoked salmon filets in less than 2hrs but on the turkeys and ribs, it was a lot of work. If you're handy, you can modify it as suggested in another review. We ended up with a Brinkman All-in-One gas unit and wouldn't trade it for anything. It's a 160k btu burner for deep frying birds or boiling lobster. It grills, charcoal or gas. It smokes, charcoal or gas. It has vents to get air inside the charcoal pan. We mounted a professional grade themometer in the lid and with gas, can maintain smoker/bbq temps between 150 and 300+ indefinetly.

5-0 out of 5 stars SECOND REVIEW.... Now it's been tested good...
I left a review after we tested it once. Well, we have used it a lot and we just think it's one heck of a smoker and one heck of a buy. We have smoked fish after catching them ourselves. WOW what a treat. We now have fresh salmon and tuna to smoke. My son wants to do a turkey soon. Don't pass this one up. You can learn how to do it after the first try. It's worth it. By the way, the CABERNET WOODS CHIPS made that fish just perfect. ... Read more

This versatile grill/smoker in one is ideal for the grill master who likes to cook entire meals--or even every meal--on the grill. The Big Easy works as a gas grill, operating at 36,000 BTU to heat the three stainless-steel VersaFlame burners evenly for perfectly cooked meals. The porcelain-coated cast-iron cooking surface enables you to cook just about anything on this grill. The Big Easy’s grates are perfect for traditionally grilled meats, such as chicken, steaks, or hamburgers. A two-sided removable griddle fixes pancakes and eggs on its smooth side that taste like they’re right from the campground, while the opposite ridged side is ideal for grilling peppers, onions, or other veggies. Additionally, The Big Easy has a cast-iron deep dish that makes great stir-fried or deep-fried foods on the grill. A flush-mounted side burner, operating on 8,000 BTU, heats up baked beans or other side dishes from your cast-iron deep dish without taking up valuable grilling space. After grilling, all cooking surfaces are easy to clean for the next cookout. When you’re ready to prepare smoked foods on your grill, simply fill the SmokerTents that are protecting the burners with wood chips and you’re ready to go. This cooker’s large hood can accommodate a big ham or even a Thanksgiving turkey to feed a crowd so there are no limitations to what you can smoke. The Big Easy has a condiment basket for holding all your extras, and an additional weather-resistant side shelf for holding plates of food or grilling tools. The Big Easy sets up in just minutes and comes with its own gas tank, which is easy to replace with the grill’s unique Tilt Tank feature. Char-Broil provides a lifetime warranty on The Big Easy’s cast-aluminum top and bottom, a five-year warranty on the burner system, and a one-year warranty on all other parts. --Cristina Vaamonde ...
