Weber's One-Touch Platinum kettle is a serious grill for serious cooks. Its sturdy, compact design makes great use of space. The cooking surface (22-1/2 inches in diameter) is big enough to accommodate six large steaks, twice as many burgers, or up to a dozen kebabs, and the grill's classic kettle shape keeps flare-ups to a minimum.

The grill's work surface, made of durable Thermoset plastic, provides a handy place to rest platters, cutting boards, and condiments; underneath, hanging hooks keep barbecue utensils right where you need 'em. Inside the grill, convenient movable baskets hold briquettes in tight clusters, allowing you to either focus or disperse the grill's heat to suit the cuisine. Rolls Royce of Charcoal Grills
Wow. It came last week - just before Memorial Day weekend. It only took about 30 minutes to assemble. I like the quality construction. One reason I was attracted to this product was because it seems to have quality workmanship - won't rust anytime soon and doesn't have flimsy parts that will wear out.

I had looked into gas grills, but the $200 ones just seemed very cheaply made. I wouldn't mind getting a $400-$500 Weber gas grill, but my wife held me back on that. I had to sell her, then, on spending $200 for charcoal instead of gas.

Okay, so this grill may not be the "Rolls Royce" of charcoal grills - the Weber charcoal with a gas starter may be - but spend another $200 for it? No way!

You know what? If you buy a $10 chimney starter, there really is little prep time for the grill to get hot. If it takes only a few minutes longer, then why get gas? Food tastes much better with charcoal anyway.

After reading the reviews here, I determined that this grill can last me many happy years. I've only used it 1x so far, but I love it!

Bottom line - I went to Lowe's and Home Depot - they both have Weber charcoal grills, but little selection. Get it at Amazon instead because Amazon offers much choice (The blue is nice and bright!). I was even able to get a discount which equated to free shipping.

Best Traditional Charcoal Grill Available
First of all, I'm a barbecue fanatic. I grew up with a Weber grill, and my dad still has his yellow 22.5" Weber from 1973. He's used it on average 2x a week for 30 years, or over 3,000 barbecues. So I am definitely biased towards Weber. Several years ago, I got a Smoky Joe for a graduation present and started using it in '99 when I got my first apartment. I used it about 1-2x a week for 4 years and it's still in fantastic shape. I recently bought a new house, and decided to get a "real" barbecue, something more serious, and I immediately decided to get a 22.5" Weber. I was going to get the Gold, but ended up getting the Platinum because of an excellent price. I've used this grill 1/2 dozen times, and it is amazing. All the features of my dad's plus hinged upper grill to add coals, briquette holders for indirect cooking, hooks to hang your utensils, a work table, and a rack to hold the starter chimney or whatever else you need. Gas may be faster, but my grill is ready for food 15 minutes after starting, so gas is only 10 mins faster. I can't say enough about this grill. If your idea of barbequing is burgers and hot dogs 4x a year, then save yourself the money and get a cheap brazier type grill. If you are like me, prefer charcoal, and barbeque roasts, turkeys, ribs, steaks, chicken shish-ka-bobs, potatoes, veggies, etc., and barbeque year-round, then get the Weber 22.5" I also have the warming rack which is a great way to cook potatoes, rolls, veggies, and other items that need slower cooking, while the meat is on the main grill. I am certain this grill will last me the next 20-30 years with minimum care, making the annual cost about $7-$10/year. Not bad, really. I wholeheartedly recommend all of the Weber grills, whether your preference be gas or charcoal. Everyone I know who has a Weber, it has been their last grill.

If you are interested in a charcoal grill, then this is the best choice! The additional side table makes a perfect place for you to set plates such... and the hooks are perfect for spatulas and other accessories. You can easily find a grill cover for it at your local super center (for a very small price), and the wheels make it easy to move around. Go and get one today!

The table is not a thin piece of plastic it is very rugged and sturdy. Assembly is very easy. A 7/16 socket will save you time over using an adjustable wrench. I was done in 30 minutes.

gotta love this grill
This is a quality grill. It arrived in perfect condition, and we put it together with minimal effort. The parts are sturdy and well-fitting. Several thoughtful little details (such as the flip-up panel on the grill that allows you to add more charcoal) make things easy for BBQ beginners like my husband and I. The catch bin at the bottom is simple to use, prevents ash from blowing all over the yard, and you can make several dinners on the grill before needing to empty the bin.

A chimney starter accessory is a must. No more lighter fluid, no more endless waiting for the coals to get hot enough to start cooking. It makes the difference between a barbequed meal being an hours-long production and a casual "Hey, why don't we barbeque that?" just before dinnertime.

Weber Kettle Grill
This is an outstanding grill. Excellent, excellent product. However, it twice arrived damaged. Severe cracks on the grill lid and on the body, removing the coating. Do not know if this is a manufacturing or shipping problem. Weber is replacing the damaged parts for my grill. This is a fantastic product, but sadly it may take some time to get one that is not messed-up.

Easy to use; well-designed
Don't know much about grills or grilling, but this seems to be a quality product from a serious company. I appreciated all the recipes and detailed instructions that came along with the barbeque. The grill itself was simple to put together (not too many parts), but is admirably sturdy. The ash-catcher is a useful feature, especially if you keep your grill on a balcony or somewhere possibly windy; I'm glad I paid extra for it.

A Must for Fans of The Simpsons or of Grilling!
I didn't really need a new Weber kettle, as my 10 year + model still grilled fine, but when I saw the Simpsons model I HAD to have it!

I must say that Weber has made a great product even better. The new ash catcher is a big improvement, and this model even comes with the hinged cooking grate (for long-cooking turkeys & such).

But more importantly, this grill is a beauty. The yellow color is just right, not too bright, and the blue handles are the color of Marge's hair. The graphic with Homer and a skewer of food is well done and is not a decal; it is baked in the enamel. Delivered in a box with a special Simpsons label, this is a must have for Simpsons fans or anyone looking for a quality grill. Good job, Weber!

get the gold
I just got the Simpson Edition grill over the holidays. I feel happy as a kid. I put a One-Touch Gold kettle on my wish list because of the grill's ash-catcher. I want to cook with charcoal from time-to-time, but I hate cleaning up the mess after cooking.

I'm delighted with the One-Touch Gold grill! The grill cooks superbly, and it's really convenient to own. You can leave it out for a few days with the lid on top, and there's no muck to scrape out after it rains. When you do dump the ashes, you won't get dirty or spill. It's great. It's not much of an extra effort to use the kettle than a gas grill. Using a Weber chimney to start the fire helps.

There seems to be a big bump in the price mark-up for the Gold kettle compared to the Silver, - though the Simpson Edition on Amazon is a terrific deal. I'd argue that the Gold model at retail seems to be value-priced rather than cost-priced. It's worth it, I think.

I have a Weber Genesis gas grill sitting next to my One-Touch Gold. I like grilling. I grill all year long despite rain, sleet, or snow. The Genesis is great, but it's been dormant for a few weeks. I've been playing with my new kettle. Well, no one at the table is complaining, even if they think I'm a little nuts.

My results with charcoal using the Weber kettle are FANTASTIC, right out of the box. What helped me is that the recipe booklet's cooking time recommendations were good for everything I've tried so far. The look, aroma, and taste of the food has been great.
