Sturdy but poorly packed.
Mine arrived missing two of the screws that hold the little rubber feet to the underside of the base. The product box was far to flimsy for shipping, and was ripped open along half the seems and not much stiffer than tissue paper by the time I received it from FedEx Ground. Amazon would have been happy to pay the return shipping, but when I told them that all I needed was the two screws, they gave me the manufacturer's phone number, whom I called and who quickly mailed the missing parts to me.

Otherwise, the stand is solid, sturdy, very heavy, and has no problem holding my 9 foot market umbrella all by itself, without the need for a table. Unlike another reviewer who reported a plastic screw, my stand uses a steel bolt to attach the support tube to the base. And, my umbrella stood straight upright as soon as the two set-screws in the support tube were tightened against the umbrella pole.

Not worth buying it by itself - comes free with the market umbrella and that is the only value --- it is crooked and probably works best, as written in the other reviews, as part of an outdoor patio table.

you need a table to add support
you will need the additional support of a table to use the nine ft. umbrella with this stand. the knobs are plastic and break easily. the recommended 9ft umbrella leans slightly in the stand, ie. wont stay perpendicular. overall, you get what you pay for...

I Did It!!!!
I was able to put this bench together by myself in a half hour! The quality is superb and the price is fantastic.

An elegant, well-made garden bench
This Oxford Designs garden bench lives up to all of its promises. It was exceptionally well-packed - interior straps and styrofoam blocks made wiggling (and denting) imposible. The curved seat was fully assembled in the box, and the other pieces tapped together easily with wooden pegs and some out-of-sight wood screws. A New Outdoor Space
An unused outdoor patio was transformed by the addition of the Oxford Chadwick Armchairs and other coordinating Oxford pieces. I had initially wanted to purchase teak furniture but after visiting several garden stores and searching on-line I was discouraged by the high price. One of the garden stores suggested shorea as an alternative, sighting the similar qualities to teak less the high price. Remembering an insert in the Sunday paper I search Amazon.com plus several other sites. I choose to make my purchase from Amazon.com because of their reputation and also I could not find a better price anywhere!

The pieces arrived and were very easy to assemble. The quality is as good as any of the higher priced garden stores. My once unused space is now furnished better that some indoor rooms of my house!

I was so pleased I told a friend who purchased a table and 4 matching chairs!

Quality and Style -- Take it from a Wood Worker
I was surprised and pleased to receive the four Chadwick Collection Oxford Garden Designs armchairs I ordered only three days earlier. As a wood worker myself, I was amazed at the quality of construction, elegance of design and sturdiness of the assembled chairs. While the first chair took about fifteen minutes to assemble while reading instructions, the remaining three took only about five each. More importantly, the shorea wood came very close to matching the teak wood table I also bought (just a shade more red and with a bit less distinctive wood grain), thereby saving me about half the price of teak chairs. Moreover, the shorea wood chairs are noticably more substantial in weight and therefore would seem more durable. The only negative with the chairs was some small glue spots which became apparent with dampness. About ten minutes of light hand sanding corrected the problem for all four chairs. I couldn't be more delighted with the quality and workmanship of the chairs and have considered taking off the metal labels to encourage friends to think I made them!

Pleased, but...
I spent an hour today putting together two of the Oxford Garden Desighns Chadwick Collection armchairs, plus the rectangular dining table. They were really easy to put together - so easy, in fact, that I'm a bit worried that they won't hold up. They are very attractive, however, so I have my fingers crossed. In all seriousness, they do seem at least as well put together as what I found in stores (and for much less money). The only drawback is that imperfections in some of the wood pieces, which I understand are normal, can't be easily dealt with (or swapped out), as would presumably be the case if I'd bought these locally. ... WOW..now that is sturdy!
These chairs, I bought 4, have the wieght that Adirondack Chairs SHOULD have! They are very heavy - so I am sure they will not ever blow away. The wood has a wonderful grain and smooth finish...best to teak oil them and then they'll look like a million bucks for a LONG time. The construction is tight and sturdy with durable bolts.... the assembly is a bit of a pain in the neck (it always is) BUT you will have them for a life so well worth the effort considering the quality and great price. Good sitting and proportion.

Easy Assembly
I couldn't believe how easy it is to assemble this chair. All the pre-drill holes lined up nicely and the 14 screws goes in easily. I was able to assemble the entire chair in less than 5 minutes. Even faster than assembling a bookshelf.

Since it been raining outside, haven't had a chance to try it outdoor. But as a temperary indoor chair, it is quite relaxing sitting on it to watch tv.

Chair designs come and go; this one endures
This chair will endure in more than one way; it's made of a very sturdy and durable wood (shorea.) With the judicious application of teak oil, the chair can weather anything (well, nearly anything. I'll be putting ours down in the cellar away from the snow.)

Great Table reasonable price
Compared to teak this furniture is very reasonably priced, yet it looks just like its more expensive cousin.It went together in about five minutes with no effort.Outstanding.Fit and finish was perfect.I would highly recommend this product.

As with teak wood, this product will age to a silvery gray color.If you like the natural wood tone, just finish it with teak oil about once a year (I did this before I put it on my porch eight months ago and it still looks great.

A little rough around the edges
All in all, you are getting what you pay for. The furniture is solid enough, but within a month, we are experiencing some big fissures developing in the wood. Nothing that will cause structural integrity issues, but bad enough that it catches your eye. Then again, we are paying about a third less than true teak stuff.

parts don't line up
I bought this chair and the 48" bench. The bench assembled easily and all the parts lined up. Unfortunately, the chair did not. The parts did not line up. Since the dowel rods used to assemble the chair do not come out easily, I was stuck. Fortunately, with a cushion on the chair it's hardly noticeable. If you buy this chair, I would suggest placing the pieces together to make sure they line up. Something I should've done. Once you start assembling, you can't start over. I would also suggest getting a cushion for the back. This chair is uncomfortable if you sit in it for more than 20 minutes.

ADD A "ROOM" TO THE HOUSE!
It started with those high priced catalogs full of teak and it made it's way as usual to Amazon.com to see what they had...I was pleased to find a great english shorea wood bench and bought it, I love it and it's made so well that I ordered the cocktail table to match, they are great and comfortable and I even found a doormat to add to it...I sealed them all with tung oil on a rag and made a beautiful place to hang out...for what I would have spent on teak I could have built an addition but with this fantastic line of furniture I bought everything and had enough left to order a nice birdbath too!! and flowers and tikitorches...you get the idea. High quality outdoor Furniture
Oxford Gardens high quality product is worth a few extra dollars. This furniture is made from Vietnamese hardwood and stands up to weather and insects. Low cost pine and cedar furniture is much much lighter and less dense and needs oil and maintanance to last. I've also found Oxford Gardens customer service to be outstanding. It's a shame the prior reviewer didn't just call to have her chairs replaced or fixed.

We ordered 4 of these chairs, and two had legs that were uneven!!! When we applied the recommended teak oil on the first chair, we found about twenty areas on the seat and one on the back where wood putty had been applied. The stain made these spots JUMP out at you--and now that they are put together, it is too late to return. The only saving grace is that we bought cushions to cover the seat but that won't help the back. I would never purchase anything this large that is difficult to return again!!
