The hummingbirds favorite . . .
I've had this feeder for about three years and it's the favorite for the birds. I also have the strawberry ones but they seem to like to perch on the supporting ring on this one.

The water where I live is very heavily treated and I did notice that it made a BIG difference when I started using filtered water to mix with the sugar.

The red and yellow coloring at the base of the feeder seems to be enough color to attract the birds. It's easy enough to clean and the plastic has gotten a little darker but not significantly.

For the price and the enjoyment the birds get from this feeder it's well worth the price.

Lonely & neglected, but the ants like them
The hummingbirds in my yard, skip over this feeder. I have five feeders, and two of them are this one and the birds don't touch them. The other three I have to fill twice a day, these two never empty. The ants love them, I always have ants inside these feeders. The bottom comes apart for easy cleaning, but it also leaks easily and the plastic bottle discolors quickly.

What a pity!
I am a bird enthusiat who was given three of these feeders for my verandah as a gift. They are attractive easy to maintain etc. all the features that befit a good feeder. They work well in attracting the hummers, perhaps too well, for as they frequent the stations, those lovely faux flowers have a tendency to break off. This is due to the constant probing by the birds. What a pity ! This a major defect, the flowers do not glue back for long. As the nectar containers long outlast the stations, I would keep them if replacement feeding stations could be purchased. I am on my third feeder, two flowers remain.

Excellent Product
The shiny silver colored dome not only keeps squirrels and rain off your feed, but it also attracts dozens of birds within a few days. After a week I had over 14 species visiting regularly. Before purchasing this feeder, I had a less [costly]tree hanging feeder that did not attract a single bird for months, even though I was using the same bird feed. It did not take long before I had to buy a second baffle though, because the squirrels figured out how to get in. So now the feeder has a top baffle and a bottom baffle (purchased separately) and it seems to be keeping the squirrels off.

UPDATE: One year after purchasing this feeder. It is still up and working. I have put it through the dishwasher several times without problems. Squirrels have tried to get in, but have failed every time. Some of the perches broke off, but clinging birds can still feed from those ports. Non-clinging birds can rest on the bottom tray.

Thrilled!
I received my 5103 for christmas this past year. I was very excited, because I had picked it out my self. I had forgotten all about it until I unwrapped it. I could not wait to fill it and hang it out side. I was very excited that is was easy to fill! I hung it near my kitchen window so that I could watch the birds, it was a different location than normal and it took the birds almost a week to find it. And when they did they loved it. Every morning they were jockeying for position. The best part was that the squirrels couldn't seem to get to it. And the birds got all of the seed. Every day I watched the squirrels try to get to the feeder they always seemed to miss. One time I heard a hugh crash and a squirrel went running away I think he tried to jump on it and slid right off. A couple of months later I think that he got even, because when I came home from work my new birdfeeder was in about 50 pieces on the ground and the squirrels were have a banquet! I will have to ask Santa for another one for this christmas, because the 5103 is the best birdfeeder around. It was easy to fill, you didn't have to fill it every couple of days and the birds loved it. Thank you.

Birds Seem to Like It
The Opus feeder has 12 feeding ports that will accommodate most birds. Within a couple of weeks I had over 14 species of birds regularly visiting the feeder. If you have squirrels, they will easily defeat the pole on which the feeder is mounted, so you will need to buy an extra baffle to attach to the bottom. The feeder tray becomes easily soiled and will require frequent cleaning in order to prevent disease. It can be removed, but you will need to find an object to plug into the bottom of the feeder in order to prevent seeds from spilling out. Without the tray, seeds simply fall onto the ground. This can actually be benificial since several species of birds actually prefer ground feeding, such as Cardinals and Doves. Not having the feeder tray also reduces the number of large birds that can perch on the feeder and prevent smaller birds from accessing the feeding ports. Sadly, the metal bands around the feeding ports began to rust within two weeks of placing the feeder outside. I am surprised that the manufacturer did not use a more rust resistant alloy. The feeder does not have a thistle seed port, so it is designed for large seeds only. I mixed some niger into the sunflower seed and that seems to work without too much spillage. Finally, the metallic color of the feeder baffles probably attracts birds more than other colors if it is placed in a visible location. Overall, an excellent feeder, but can be improved with owner modifications.

great size, not durable enough
I loved the size of this feeder since it held enough feed to last for about 5 days. However, like another writer, disliked the vulnerability to squirrels. Rather than be discouraged by the hood, they hung by their back toes from the ring on top, stretched down to the edge of the hood, chewed it back, dropped down to the perches, pulled them out and spilled all the seed. It took the squirrels all winter to destroy this feeder (which, by the way, they reached by dropping from 18 feet above it), but they did it. I was hoping for more.

Great feeder but prone to squirrel damage
This is really a great feeder. It holds a lot of seed and the optional perches allow you to customize to your bird preferences. BUT... It's not squirrel-proof. Mine lasted a little over a year before the squirrels chewed through the plastic top enough that one morning the feeder and its hanging aparatus parted ways, the feeder hit the ground and broke.
