They DO kill mosquitos
These things really kill bugs. I hate bugs and have no mercy on them. My daughter is violently allergic to mosquitos and looks like we have been burning her with cigarettes after a few bites. The mosquitos had to go! The beneficials largely fly during daylight and those that don't better stay away from my yard. Hey guys answer me a question - if mosquitos aren't attracted to light why do the professionals use "mosquito light traps" to attract and sample populations? The light is a white light but it includes the blue spectrum. Google it and see. I am convinced the "mosquito magnet" "sonic web" makers made up the BS that these do not kill mosquitos. Mine certainly does. I sat out in Memphis TN last night for two hours and didn't get one bite. My arms would have been in constant motion swatting bugs three weeks ago. I had a sonic web last year and it didn't get squat. Thank God for online auctions.

These things slaughters bugs. I have two at opposite ends of my house and couldn't be happier with them. Now to see if they last.

P.s. Get the 80 watt version. Every review on the web touted its bug killing over the 40 watt versions. Also spray your soffit, porches, underside of decks, window overhangs, and shrubs with carbaryl, permethrin, or malathion. (I know bug lady is probably stroking out now!) They have a good residual and will kill daytime roosting mosquitos for up to 3 weeks (carbaryl or malathion at least). Check the regulations in your your area first.

why doesn't amazon carry this product anymore?????
i am beholden to all the fine reviews at this site that touted this great product to the skys. i shot right out and bought the big 80 watt number.
the day before i put mine up i had collected 5 nasty fly bites - hugh itchey welts. so i got even...i pinned the little sucker up and sat out on the patio at 9 that night gloating outrageously. this baby was snapping 'em left and right. little bug bodies were really piling up out there. color me smug.
i have reclaimed the right to go out in my back yard garden and even to sit out in the dead of night unscathed. how much is that worth? and my high strung cats don't mind the slight snapping noise. they don't like bugs either.
this gismo rocks!!! each evening i go out and plug it in for the night's work and i can't resist giving it a little pat and a "you get 'em killer".
do i recommend this device? oh, yea.....

mosquetoes arn't attracted to light? could that be why there is a pest strip for under the hot light that, when heated up, attracts mosquetoes like CRAZY!!! do you want a body count? there are some very deceased mosquetoes out there under my flowtron.
and as to it killing beneficial flying bugs....do you mean those little moths that are outside waiting for you to open you door so they can eat holes in your clothes? get a grip.

This device is advertised as a killer of light attracted insects. MOSQUITOES ARE NOT ATTRACTED TO LIGHT. DEER FLIES ARE NOT ATTRACTED TO LIGHT.

VERY NICE!
I LOVE THE BUG ZAPPER, I HAD IT ON THE BACK DECK, BUT IT WAS TOO LOUD FOR THE DOG, SO I PUT IT AT THE FRONT PORCH AND USED THE LURE PACK AND HAVE NOT HAD PROBLEMS WITH INSECTS AT THE BACK DECK, TO MY SURPRISE, THE LIGHT ATTRACTS INSECTS FROM THE BACK DECK TO THE FRONT PORCH, I LOVE IT! Here in Houston we have had a particularly difficult time with mosquitos this year (due to heavy rainfall). I almost felt like we were held "hostage" inside our house, since going outdoors meant a barrage of mosquitos! But thanks to the Flowtron bug killer which we now have on our back patio, we can enjoy the out-of-doors again! We purchased the 80-watt model, even though our yard is only 1/3 acre. It has been very effective in eliminating our mosquito problem. One word of caution: the zapping noise generated by the Flowtron really bothers our Golden Retriever. Octenol mosquito attractant cartridge
I am trying to locate an internet source for buying additional octenol mosquito attractant cartridges specific for the Flowtron BK-15D Electronic Insect Killer. Unless I can find a source for these cartridges the unit I purchased at Menards (150 miles away)will be usless to me. Can you help me find a source for these specific cartridges?

Works Great!
This bug popper really does a great job. You do have to clean it ever so often. Really has controlled the mosquitos and knats. I recommend this to anyone with an average size yard.

Wouldn't hurt a fly
Don't waste your money on this low powered unit. Not only did it not work because of a disconnected wire, ...I was able to repair, but it environmentally safe because it doesn't kill bugs. Step up two the dual tube #80 ...it is definitely worth the extra money.

Already Broke!
It seemed to be doing the job. Then after less than a year, it just quit working. I bought a new bulb to no avail. Now I'm stuck with a new bulb and left-over mosquito attractant! Bummer!

THE FLOWTRON LE-900 IS A GREAT LEAF MULCHER!!
I purchased the Flowtron LE-900 before I read Methodairman's review (see below) and fully expected I would be disappointed with it after it arrived. What a surprise when I immediately put it to work mulching more than 60 large bags of oak leaves and it performed flawlessly! Yes I had to change the trimmer lines after about 10 very large bags but the unit came with plenty of extra lines which were very quick and easy to change. For leaves smaller and softer than oak and for a less fine cut setting I'm sure the line change interval could be stretched to 15-20 bags. Bottom line: If you want to mulch leaves quickly and easily this is the mulcher for you!

The Ultimate Mulcher ???? Not quite Dear Flowtron
We have had three Flowtron mulchers in the past. All have just about lasted 1-2 years.. They were essentially the LE-800. When we saw the Ultimate Mulcher, the LE-900, we thought "let's go this route again.. " It completely stopped after only three bags of DRY leaves that were picked up with a lawn mower (that is, pretty small pieces). By hunting through the manual, I noticed a Circuit Breaker was mentioned. Inconveniently located underneath the unit which was on a barrel and full of leaves...Great design !!! After a cool down period, I pressed it and the unit started... So the improvement is that it now blows it's own circuit breaker rather than the one in the house which was the previous problem we had!!!!!

I would NOT recommend this unit but it is the only electric powered one available so unless you want to play the gas engine plus metal blade game, you are stuck... You would think on a unit that lists for 150 dollares, they could spend an extra few dollars and put a decent motor on it.

Post Script.... I upgraded to 2 stars because I discovered that the unit had been incorrectly assembled as received from Amazon. This allowed leaf mulchings to be sucked into the motor cloggng air flow and hence causing the circuit breaker to Blow. ...

Fine for the Price
I also expected to be disappointed, but with a little TLC this mulcher works just fine. I did not want a giant mulcher to store and this is the only alternative. You have to understand it is basically a string trimmer used to cut up leaves. The strings do break if large sticks get in, but are easy to replace and available at any hardware store. Many twigs will fall right through without damage. You can't dump piles of packed leaves in, just put in moderate amounts of loose leaves slowly and it will handle them. The motor seems strong. It did stop running when I first started with too many leaves and I thought I'd be sending it back, but a customer service rep told me where the reset button is hidden ('duh' I could have read the manual). At this new low price it's a real bargain.

For a One Season Solution
I bought this leaf shredder in 2003 Spring and used it for about 10 or 15 bags of leaves. It works pretty well, but is difficult
to set up, the stand works loose with just a little use and has to be continually tightened. Parts are difficult to reorder.
You have to send a check, the manufacturer does not accept any
credit cards so it sometimes takes 2 weeks to get trimmer line and parts that break. I have already had to replace the spool which holds the cutter line. I have not been able to find any dealer who carries the parts online.

Wait for a mulcher with metal blades.
I bought this machine, or its clone, at Sears a few years ago. It didn't last one season. In fact, the first time I used it a part came loose and was lost, and it took a couple of weeks for it to be shipped. It's hard to rake leaves without picking up some small twigs, and small twigs cause this machine to hangup. Someone needs to design a machine just like this, but with metal blades. Good flying bug killer
We don't have a mosquito problem but my wife and I usually spend our time at our computers which are located close to our deck. At night, flying bugs would wiggle into the house and send my wife screaming and wailing. So I bought this bug zapper and the problem is solved. A good product if you need something to keep flying bugs out of the house during warm summer nights.

Before buying this product, think of a way to hang it some place. I put mine on a deck table but its a little wobbly and may fall over if there's a strong gust of wind.

I can't identify most of the bugs killed by the zapper, some are small green thinggy with wings and some of rather big long flying bug. It did killed a lady bug however, not sure if that's a good thing or not.

Flowtron Insect Killer
Poor product. It will kill insects after it is really dark outside but it's totally ineffective in the daytime. I owned one (another brand) in the 70's that was excellent. The difference in the two was that my other one had one black light and one flourescent light. It was a softer light that seemed to attract more bugs, both in the daytime and at night. This is definitely an item to buy in a store so you can easily return it. Even the bait didn't help. I live in a subdivision that sprays for mosquitoes so we don't have many. The money would have been better spent on citronella candles. Makes a great night light though! It lights up my entire den through the windows. No more stumbling through the dark to get to the kitchen!

Kills bugs but cheap construction
The Flowtron worked well for me. I set it up on a dawn to dusk timer and it killed bugs so well, some preying mantis setup an eatery right below it. The only problem was that the bug zapper only last about a year before it stopped working. I replaced the bulb and cleaned it but it just stopped working. Cleaning it is a little messy but easy.

IT DOES KILL MOSQUITOES!
You should see the pile of mosquitoes on the ground, I mounted mine near our bbq, turn it on as low as possible, I was amazed, i'm sure it killed 200 or 300 the first night alone, well see if it makes a difference in the long term, mosquitoes are a huge problem here in Winnipeg, Manitoba, even if it kills a 1000 week, it will make summer more enjoyable! On behalf of bug zappers, I am well aware that bug zappers do not attract mosquitoes. The zappers do eliminate other pest though. Look at moths and how they damage crops or gardens! There's a few points for the bug zappers. I might add that the flowtron bk-40 puts on a good show though. I have had one for three years now and it has been trouble free and clog free. I have a flowtron BK 80 coming for immediate use in the back yard patio area. It really works!!!
This thing catches mosquitos! It's easy to set up and you dont have to buy propane. It was a lot less expensive than the mosquito magnet and it does what they say it does.

Gets the Mosquitoes!No TANK needed!!!!!
I don?t usually write things like this but having a Mosquitoes Magnet I wanted more protection without the annoyance of refilling and carrying propane around and not to mention the cost. Every three weeks having to buy propane is bad enough! I took a chance on this Galaxie product and I am glad I did its capturing everything in the yard. A whole lotta money for very little product
Don't let the size of the box fool you. Even though this item comes packaged in a good-sized box, this product is barely one inch by two inches. It's just a small piece of plastic with some type of pheromone embedded in it. Although it does seem to attract flies for a few days, it doesn't seem to last for very long at all. It's just a tiny piece of flimsy plastic! In my opinion, it's just not worth it.
