I'll be outside...
I wasn't surprised to learn that my Chaise Lounge chairs were back ordered. At this price and no charge for shipping, I imagined the whole country waiting for theirs! It was easy as pie to track the shipping status so I knew when to expect them. There aren't many times I've assembled anything but I found this easy as well. I'm pleased with the quality of the wood used. All the bolts and washers and so on were present. It is light enough to move from the shade of a tree to the sun on the deck. The back support is a tad short even at five foot four. It did not stop me from having a well deserved nap. The dog is lovin' it as well but he thinks it's a sofa and we need to cuddle...it's too hot! Looks great, feels solid, totaly functional slide out table for a number of items. You'll like it!A five star rating if it came put together.

love them for the money
We received these for Christmas and had been waiting to put them together. They are easy to assemble and my husband did all four in a little over an hour. We also sanded them lightly with an electric sander and applied teak oil. Oiling is the way to go. They look beautiful. There are a couple of spots that aren't ideal, but I knew that before buying from other reviews, so I expected it. We just sanded those spots a little more and they look fine. As I read in another review, they are a little short. I'm 5 foot 7 and they are exactly as long as me. The description says 70 inches long, but that must be including the tips of the sides. The seating area is 67 inches. I measured for cusions and the back is 25 inches and bottom is 42 inches, so 67 inches. The biggest problem with this is the back - when I sit up, it hits right at the base of my neck so there's no leaning your head back unless you scooch down in the chair. Still - for the price, I love them and I'm sure will get lots of enjoyment from them.

Chips & Dents Easily
What this product makes up for in beauty, it lacks in sturdiness. We found that it took several tries to receive a lounge that was neither chipped or dented, and eventually returned our.

poorly made lounges
I purchased 2 of these and yes they assemble very easily. However, both of them have broken after less than 2 months. One of them split on the backside where you lay it down. My son leaned back and it just cracked!!! (He weighs 50 lbs!) The other cracked several days later the same way. There was no force and it was being lowered slowly. What a shame, the placement of the bolts seem to be a contributing factor.

poor quality
The wood is cheap jointed pieces pretending to be solid wood. The main frame of the chaise gave way at one of these jointed areas the very first time the chaise was used. I am awaiting a refund. It's a pity because the design of the chaise is very nice and if it had held together it would have been a good buy. ... Read more

Sturdy, Attractive, Roomy, Easy to Assemble
This is a large chest that holds a lot, heavy weight, very sturdy an attractive. We thought it was easy to assemble, I don't know why others had so many problems, we're not really very "handy" an it went together in less than an hour. We think it was a very good value. Shipped very promptly.

Don't Buy This Defective Product
I wish I had read the other reviews before ordering this piece of crap cedar storage bench. This is anything except "easy to assemble" as there were two holes predrilled incorrectly, and the interlocking anchors make it quite difficult to re-drill the holes (which I managed to do with some difficulty). In addition, the hinges provided either do not fit the job, or again the specs of this need-to-assemble storage box were off so that you have to cut several corner pieces to allow the top to seat correctly in place. I can say that this is the worst example of engineering thatI have ever seen. Moreover, I had also ordered two of the planter-trellances, which began to fall apart as I assembled it (requiring additional glueing and additional screws just to keep it together). No more purchases from this company for me!

Great appearance, but difficult to assemble
The storage chest arrived in a timely manner and looks great. However, when assembling, the holes didn't match up and had to be redrilled. The hinges weren't right, and we had to buy different hinges. It wasn't worth the hassle!

Fell apart in 4 days
Looks nice and is a nice size but provided screws pulled out after 4 days with barely any use. I can't recommend this, save your money for higher quality.

Even better than I expected!
I ordered 2 and kept my fingers crossed...the price was so reasonable, I thought I may be disappointed. But the chairs are wonderful! They are fairly light-weight so they can easily be moved around the deck, yet the are well-made and well-balanced. They will accommodate a cushion if I so choose to put one on. I purchased them to look out over the yard to the pool. I could't be happier! (Shipping was super quick too!)

American Woods furniture
American Woods furniture is great. Unlike similar furniture by other makers, American Woods uses bolts in the assembly of the piece rather than wooden pegs which shrink and become brittle over the years causing the piece to come apart. As the wood shrinks the bolts can be tightened. I love the look as well as the comfortable sitting. (I have two chairs as well as the table.)

Material and Construction
Just from looking at the picture I can tell that this chair is made from Redwood and is constructed with "Mortice and Tennon" joints. A very solid method of construction. My only hesitation is that there are no measurements given. Plus, if the chair and chair back slats aren't thick enough they will be prone to spliting.

We need a little more information. The chair LOOKS great! But what kind of material is it constructed from? How big is it? A side view would be helpful also to see how the back curves. The price is good, now if I just knew a little more...

Good value for the money
We shopped this in many places and no one came close to this value. However, be prepared to have patience putting it together. It would help to have someone assisting. We ordered two and one box contained a damaged part. We called the manufacturer's 800 number directly and they said they would ship the part to us the next day, no questions asked or proof required. The only frustration we faced was not being able to get other pieces matching due to the fact that they are out of stock. You won't be disappointed with this purchase.

Poor Packaging
The table is beautiful. However, the package it came in was far too weak for such a heavy object so it was starting to fall apart. Moreover, the hardware package came apart during shipping, sending the parts all over the carton. Some fell out, while others lodged into the table, damaging it with deep ruts.

Scale not to size
I received my table a few days ago. It is alright but I think the picture makes it look nicer. I also have found that the legs are very short. The table is not of normal height, so needless to say I am very disappointed. If you are going to purchase this item you need to be aware of the height of the table.

Poor quality product - BEWARE
I bought two of these and the cedar storage bench - both were mistakes. When I tried to assemble these, two things happened. First, the preassembled sides, apparently with only under-used glue and no screws - fell apart. I had to add glue and provide my own screws to reassemble. In addition, in 1 or 2 of each leg that I tried to fasten the base with the wheels, as I tapped the wheel base into the wood so it stayed in place when you lifted the rolling trellance - the leg(s) split. What poor engineering and quality. Stay away from this company's products.

Cheap cheap cheap.
Unfortunately I am talking about the quality, not the price. I ordered four of these and three showed up with broken parts. While the manufacturer was very responsive in sending out replacements, it hardly bodes well for longevity - especially outside where I was hoping to use them. The staple construction is flimsy at best, and the cedar they are using might as well be balsa wood. If your lucky enough to get one with the pieces intact, I wouldn't bet on it lasting more than a season outdoors.

better than we had hoped for
we researched planters and trellises online and in garden centers around here and were really excited to find this combined one. It looked better than most and the price was unbelievable (we did buy it on Amazon special with a free gift) but the best part was when they (we bought two)arrived. Each came with the glue and screws for assembly. One person was able to assemble one planter trellis in fifteen to twenty minutes using a screw driver only. (The second is unpacked and ready to go...)It seems sturdy and is actually better looking than the picture because the wood is really nice. We had originally planned to use it to line an outdoor walkway but the removable wheels on the bottom are making us wish we had a room that needed a divider - this piece of "furniture" looks great indoors too. ... Potting Table
I was so excited when I saw this potting bench and with free shipping it was a great deal. My husband called me to tell me it had arrived and he would put it together. Well when I went outside to see the table I was disappointed because the potting bench was very different from the photo. I called customer service and they apologized and offered to send me another one. Again the wrong bench arrived. So I just kept the one they sent me originally. I like the bench I have but its definitely not the I ordered.

The item's description is not the item pictured. I ordered the potting bench after just looking at the picture. The item I got is much more like the potting bench with he lattice top and no covered tub area for potting dirt. It's nice - but be carful and check to see if it is the correct bench before putting it together. The item number and description of the item i got all match to order - it's just the wrong picture.

Overall a great buy for a functional product
I ordered this bench back in January 2003. It took a while to arrive, but I was very surprised that most of the assembly had already been done for you. Like a previous reviewer stated, many of the lengths of cedar are finger joined. After having the bench for about two to three months now, I've had no trouble with the construction of the bench. We've had a lot of rain lately, but the bench is withstanding the elements! I did, however, have my husband drill small drain holes in the plastic tub and also in the wooden drawer. This bench is just the right height and very handy to have when re-potting. I keep my potting mix in a sealed container on the lower shelf. Again, a great buy and I'm not disappointed with this product at all.

Nice looking, easy to assemble, disappointed in the material
Overall I am pleased with this table. However, I am concerned that the legs and some other pieces are not solid pieces of cedar; instead they are finger-jointed pieces of wood. Probably won't stand the test of time.

Decent Product, Great Price
Like I said elsewhere about AmericanWoods' chairs equally applies to this table - pretty darn good product at any price, great product at this price (140ish) plus free shipping. This table is actually decent sized and looks pretty good. Quality is a bit of an issue since one side of the frame underneath the table top was split and required gluing/set screws to reattach. It doesn't look like any structural problem, but maybe a bit cosmetic(although underneath the top maybe no one will notice). Also, one side of one of the slats on top came loose (glue came undone). so a bit more glue and a screw to hold in place. I guess these comments are all relative: to me no biggie, to someone less mechanically inclined- maybe big deal. Plus, repairs don't matter since its a work bench, not a display piece. Otherwise thing looks good (understanding its cedar and "combined" wood at that (not one solid piece)), and seems sturdy. Quality gets a 2 to 3 stars. Ease of putting together gets a three to four star. Looks/use gets 3 to 4 stars. Overall without cost might get 3 to 3and1/2, but with price it gets a five! ... Read more

Definitely worth the money
I purchased this item during the 50% off clearance sale... For that price, the glider is unbeatable... I did have to reread the instructions a couple of times, but they were clearer than anything I've gotten from IKEA.
Why four stars then? Although all the hardware components were there(a first in my home-assembly furniture experience), I was missing a couple of key pilot holes. The final baseplate sitting on the underside of the seat and the seatback did not have pilot holes to guide me. Typically this isn't an issue, but the pilot holes would have helped me be sure I was putting the baseplate in the correct spot. Also, I had to redrill some of the bolt holes. They just weren't deep enough. Again, it's only a pain when you've already screwed the 4 inch bolt into place and it's 1/4" short of flush.
Remember, this is a cedar bench. It's not teak; it's not mahogany. It's not intended to stand up to heavy duty use. Sit on it carefully. Do not flop down on it, do not let your kids roughhouse on it, and it should do fine.

American Woods Windsor Collectin Loveseat Glider
Having read other reviews of this glider before I ordered, I felt I was somewhat prepared for what I got. This was not meant to be a piece of fine furniture. The cedar was rough in many places and obviously pieced together from ends and scraps. Instructions say you should plan on sealing your glider within the first year of use. I anticipated that the manufacturer's oil sealer would not be the quality I wanted, so I sanded every part, then applied 3 coats of my own sealer before I ever assembled the glider. I believe I increased both the value and the life-span this way. It went together fairly easily; having a cordless drill helped immeasurably. I am now making cushions for the back, as it is slightly uncomfortable without some kind of padding. Really, I love it now, but it took some work to get it to that point. By the way, I got a much better price than is being offered now. I suggest holding out til spring.

outdoor lover
Not a bad little glider for the price. It was a little smaller than I had invisioned, but it will work. It was easy to put toether acording to my Husband but He did have to do a little alteration as one part didn't line up. He also added that the wood that was pieced together was done so in the correct way and it would add to the durability. I guess the bottom line is you get what you pay for and in this case , and in this day and age it was worth the money.

ours is holding up well...
I agree with many of the reviewers who noted that the assembly instructions for this glider could use improvement (though I was able to put it together by myself in about an hour with little difficulty) and the overall quality of the wood is only average. But, that said, ours has held up to two years of steady use on a covered porch with no noticeable problems. The glider mechanism is still very smooth, and the wood is not showing any stress or strain. Bottom line, if you want a perfect, solid wood glider you should expect to pay quite a bit more. But for the price, this is a perfectly fine bench.

Its pretty, but that's all its got going for it
We loved the look of this bench and put it on our Amazon wedding registry. When we received it as a gift, we were annoyed that one of the arm units was split at the grain. The company quickly sent us a new one and it then took 2 people several hours to assemble. We put it on our screened-in porch and enjoyed it for a month or so, and then the cracking began. We discovered quickly that the seat slats were made from several pieces of wood fused together and then veneered, thus the source of the creeking and cracking. Shortly after that the back slats all detached from the seat, which made it easy to see that they were put together with glue and a few staples. This beautiful gliding loveseat, assembled in April, is now sitting in our basement in August, waiting to be repaired or thrown out. good chairs
Although the delivery was delayed for two months, when the chairs finally arrived they were as expected, or a little better. They are light but sturdy, don't wobble when sat in, and go together easily. There are six bolts for each chair (3 on each side), and only a flat screwdriver is really needed for assembly. I put both chairs together in half an hour or so. Some of the wood is joined, (i.e. scraps joined together in tongue and groove) but they're still attractive. The packaging seemed sturdy and robust enough to protect the chairs in shipping. Mine came with no damage and no missing parts. I'm satisfied with my purchase. If you are tired of heavy pressure treated lawn furniture that looks like it came by oxcart from the black forest, and you want something lighter and somewhat more attractive, perhaps for a patio or a porch, then you might want to try these instead.

American Woods Ceder Chair Set: You get what you pay for.
I ordered two set of the American Woods Ceder Chairs and was a bit disappointed. The chairs are priced low and with free shipping and no "store hopping" I guess I am pleased with the product. The problems with the chairs where two-fold: one they arrived with dings and dents, one chair had a two inch end section completly torn off; second the oil stain on two of the chairs had spots and drip marks. Now I could have returned the items but decided to spend a few minutes sanding and glueing (the one chair was glued and clamped overnight) and my wife is very pleased with the end result. The chairs are comfortable (even without cushions) and seem pretty durable.

You get less than what you pay for!
These chairs seemed to be a good price, and with free shipping we decided to take a chance. Boy, are we dissapointed. We've gotten splinters in our hands, butts and the backs of our legs, the chairs have literally split on the legs and backrests, and the matching table has also led to some casualties! I want my money back!!! DON"T buy these chairs!! Better to sit on a (safe) folding chair!!

Decent Product, Great Price
COnsidering the price of these chairs (130 for 2) plus free shipping, they can't be beat with a stick. I mean top value for dollar. Take price out of the equation and they're still pretty darn good. No, they're not teak or other top end wood, but they are a nice cedar and have a pleasing deisgn. Quality was pretty good, in fact 95% on these chairs (less on the potters table I also bought). The only problem was that one drill hole didn't go all the way thru and thus when opened up by a scrediver, it ripped/splinted the wood a bit. No biggie and may even add character. Anyway, the hardware is average (brass screws and wahsers), and the wood is "combined" (not from one piece), but still the product is above average withotu price and outstanding with price.

Money better spent elsewhere
I bought this swing at the end of last season at a highly reduced price. I thought for the money, the quality was OK. Or so I thought.

Unfortunately, I waited until the following summer to assemble it. I was doing well following each step of the directions until I got to a certain point where the sub-assembled pieces wouldn't fit together and when trying, one of the pieces of wood split. It seems it came with some of the holes missed drilled which would not allow it to fit together.

The more time I spent trying to figure out the problem and consulting with other people, the more frustrated I became and the more I disliked the product quality and appearance.

Since I had waited too long to put it together, I couldn't return it. The manufacturer would replace the broken piece and the pieces that were defected if I could tell which ones were defected. I really couldn't. I would have had to have the whole frame shipped out. And, with the passage of time, the swing started to look ugly.

So, I have given up. What I have assembled will be taken apart this weekend. I will chalk it up to "you get what you pay for". At this point, I wouldn't have it in my backyard if I were given it for free!

A great wedding gift!
I purchased one for myself and one for a wedding gift. I just finished assembling mine... a couple of hours alone. It's quite easy to assemble. I was missing only one washer which will be a few cents to replace. I believe that it was an extreme bargain for the amount I paid on a Friday Sale Day Special. I absolutely adore the bench and I envision many intimate conversations in the garden. Let's hope that the newlyweds enjoys theirs as much!

Sweet, smooth silence
This swing was a belated Mother's day gift to my mother. I passed on other models in stores because they were too big for the space it would occupy in my garden or too squeaky when in use. I decided to take a chance on this one and am glad I did. The swing set was delivered within a week and I assembled within three hours with only the help of my cats (would've been quicker if I didn't suffer a momentary brain-freeze while attaching the arms to the seat.) It operates smoothly and silently with no hitches. The wood is a lovely honey color though a bit tacky from whatever it's been treated with. The reason the swing doesn't rate a "5" in my estimation is because a few pieces of the wood were dented in transit. Also, I found the canopy material somewhat flimsy and the directions for constructing the canopy not entirely clear. 3 Months Later...It Fell Apart
My beautiful garden arbor that I've had only since June finally collapsed into 3 pieces. As you might have read in my previous review, my husband and I fortified the shoddy construction with additional screws and glue. It just really couldn't withstand the Texas heat. I'm not sure what happened to the thing, but it started rotting on the top/center about 2 weeks after we set it up. Then, the side rails split and finally broke on one side. And it was just sitting there! No more big storms, just the Texas heat. Maybe it melted the glue? Who knows, but my money did not entirely go to waste. I've cut off the top on one side and saved both planters. They are still in one piece. My new advice, pass on this arbor

Very nice design, needs improvement in workmanship
We bought one for a gift for around [price], put it together. Some minor defects, but liked it so much we bought one for ourselves for around [price]. Box was opened at seam. Screws were missing and parts were broken. Decided it was less touble to repair it than to send it back. Seems to be OK. Now price is ...? Wish we would have gotten the others at this price.

Great Looking, Better Price!
I have been looking for an arbor for the past year and have finally found one that was well under the [price] dollar range. I paid [price] and thought it was a great deal, but Amazon.com has now dropped it another [price], making this the best deal you'll find anywhere.

It will take about 45 minutes to assemble and it's much easier with a screw gun or drill. The wood is beautiful and has a good, heavy sealer on it already, but since I live in Oregon I decided to put an extra coat of water sealer on and the wood really shines now.

It is not the most sturdy of the best arbors, but it is not weak or flimsy by any means and once you plant something in the flower boxes, it helps to stabalize it. But, this is truly a great value for the money and I highly encourage anyone that wants to add a beautiful visual display to their back yard to invest in this piece.

Great Looking, Flimsy Construction
I have been researching garden arbors for about a month now and was really excited to see this one...

Once assembled, the arbor is beautiful and smells wonderful...good quality cedar. The bad news is that it arrives unassembled (obviously) and is shoddily constructed using STAPLES. Unfortunately, in shipping, the arbor was actually broken in 4 places. Fortunately, my husband is an excellent carpenter and they do include wood glue with the screws used to put it together. We patched it up, then took about 2 hours to put it together, and added an additional 4 screws for extra support. That night we had a massive, unexpected storm and we expected to see the arbor strewn about the yard. It had been blown over, but was in one piece.

Overall, I do recommend this item if you are handy with wood and don't mind spending a little extra time putting it together. It is a great, expensive looking piece when completed.

Design appeal
I had to work with it to assemble it properly as some of the holes were a tight fit. Used the glue and added steel plates to the top of the arch as one had come apart. I sank the planter box feet into the ground so the box sat on the ground. To protect the wood I put down some landscape fabric and also lined the inside. They Finally Got Here!
The two chairs I ordered took close to two months to arrive. There is quite a bit of assembly required and the directions could use more detail and drawings to clarify instructions for those of us who are unfamiliar with woodwork. The upper slat on one ottoman had come off and I did my best to glue it on (screw holes were stripped). However, I do like the look of them and I think they were a good buy. Before you purchase, do some shopping around to make sure.....and plan on waiting.

Great product, just one problem!
This is a great product at a great price. The only problem is that I received one damaged and have been unable to replace it because it is not availbale in the stores or on the web!

Quality Questionable
The chairs are a great price and set up is easy, but the quality is questionable. Had to return a set because the seat splintered and then broke. The legs are flimsy also, even when the nuts and bolts are screwed in securely. I ordered 2, returned 1 due to the defect, and now can't decide if I should chance it on another.

Overall Good Chairs, but Hit or Miss Quality
I have two and I really like the design, but the quality was hit or miss. One is great and the other had a cracked slat on the seat which eventually broke (hey, my guests are heavy, what can I say). I reordered and the replacement has been fine.

Overall the chair is very comfortable and the design has a smaller footprint than competing chairs, particularly those in the Kennebunkport style (rear vertical supports).

For the price they are good chairs.

Adirondeck Chair Set
Although I liked what I see regarding the whole set, I would prefer this outdoor item in teak for durability, weatherwise. They have more charm in my opinion in the teak because of the way it weathers to grey and can be left outdoors indefintely. Cedar can't do that. Great for gifts.
These cedar planters are good for what they are to be used for...to put potted plants in. I ordered eight with some to be given as Christmas or housewarming gifts. But, since they're pretty cool looking, I think I'll keep them all for my patio and house plants. Will buy more for gifts later. The cost is about right; ... After all, they're just some pieces of stained cedar wood that YOU have to put together...which, in itself, is not very difficult. However, out of the eight that I ordered, one was defective. I returned it several weeks ago and have not had the cost credited back to me yet ... . Overall, I am pleased with these planters and, like I say, may order some more for gifts. The free shipping sometimes offered will be the clincher, though.

I got two of these and will be ordering two more. They come in pieces, but are very easily assembled. The first one took 10 minutes and the second only 5.
